PEACE BUILDING OPERATIONS NOWADAYS IS CLEARLY HINGED ON THREE PRIMARY PILLARS: 1. Knowledge of the Terrain and the culture of the people 2. Understanding of the political environment 3. THE POLITICAL OFFICER CONCEPT As alternative political operators, the role of the Peace building operators is to build the confidence of the people in the government by personally becoming a change agent, one who is able to bring others to work together towards a common goal as part of a nation building effort.

COMPOSITE SKILLS REQUIRED In a nutshell there is a particular sets of knowledge and skills that a peace builder is required to possess, these are hinged on three pillars previously enumerated.

FUNCTIONAL IDEOLOGY This particular understanding is the development of a Nationalist ideology which incorporates the Filipino Muslim identity in the context of first people concept. This ensures that the operators are guided with a framework of reference from whence as political operators they would always go back to.
UNDERSTANDING OF THE DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT This portion will allow the trainees a comprehensive working understanding of the different schools of thought and their political and sociosocio-cultural relevance in the Philippine Context. This will allow the PDT operator to navigate particular communities with a specific school of thought in mind

FUNCTIONAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE FILIPINO MUSLIM AND MORO NARRATIVE This particular topic will allow PDT operators to have a functional analysis and understanding of the Filipino Muslim History as well as responding to the Moro/Bangsamoro Moro/Bangsamoro Narrative and looking at a counter narrative

COUNTERING VIOLENT EXTREMISM This would allow the PDT trainee of methodologies of identifying and countering violent extremism

COMMUNITY ORGANIZING This is an essential skill that would allow PDT operators to entrench themselves into their respective communities and allow them the opportunity to interphase with community leaders.
