NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL
FAMILY CAREGIVER MONTH!
Every day, 43.5 million family caregivers
care for someone 50+ years of age and 14.9
million care for someone with Alzheimers
Disease or other dementia. Lets take this
month to reect on all caregivers do for their
loved ones and to raise awareness of family
caregiver issues.
On November 2nd, over 100 people
(caregivers and local vendors) came out
to Celebrate Family Church in Leicester to
hear Keynote Speaker, Sylvia Mackey from
Baltimore talk about New Beginnings.
Sylvia energized and empowered the
crowd of caregivers, motivating them in the
difcult, yet rewarding, task of caregiving.
Sylvia is wife and former caregiver to John
Mackey-former NFL football player Mackey-former NFL football player for the Baltimore Colts who suffered from Frontal
Temporal Dementia. Sylvia offered words of wisdom and much needed insight to lo-
cal caregivers. 30 local vendors were also on hand to provide resources and support
to Caregivers prior to Fall Prevention Awareness presentation and Yoga for Seniors
exercise session.
The Caregiver Resource Center

Ofce for Aging and is located at Noyes
Hospital in Dansville. Services include
information and referral, education,
support groups, monthly newsletter,

The project will provide for the following at the school district facilities:
