INTERVIEW ,BY COLIN LEDREW UBIQUITY UNIVERSITY FOR ITS PUBLICITY MATERIAL. DRAFT.

BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE UBIQUITY VISION IN YOUR OWN WORDS Ubiquity, is a University, without borders, providing knowledge for future employment but at the same time equips the individual to understand the challenges facing the planet, and ways and means of contributing to a wondrous planet. In this it represents a paradigm shift in thinking. The current Paradigm is not working, to protect and nurture the earth, where its financial world is driven by a small mafia, and emiserating millions of people. The control of the Mafia in the fossil fuels industry which is wounding the planet, the Pharmaceutical industry which is hurting and maiming the human body, and forms of governance which is unable to address the multiple and complex issues facing the planet. TELL ME WHAT TOUCHES YOU OR INSPIRES YOU ABOUT THE VISION

The vision stands for reaching out to billions of young people who cannot afford a higher education, and which will sustain them with the skills and knowledge to transform and be a part of an educational movement for change. We have to ask the question and reexamine what is education. Ubiquity has started that process. Education is not to be locked up in a classroom with a black board, to memorise for sitting for an exam. It is to arouse the natural curiosity and wonderment of the child to explore the many fcets of the universe. I am sure that Ubiquity will combine the need for a professional qualification and at the same time to expand human consciousness. Currently, Ubiquity is based in San Francisco, but in the future there will be many centers of learning, where the curriculae will be determined by local experiences and cultures. Whilst the immediate purpose of Ubiquity is to enroll students for higher education at an affordable price, in the future courses should be available for housewives, those are in retirement, those who are already employed. Further, forms of available, not taught in the current cirriculae should be ebciyraged such alternatives to Allopathic treatments, to find alternative healing systems and knowledge to enhance the human body. HOW CAN UBIQUITY MAKE CHANGES THROUGH EDUCATION?

The Sri Lankan education system is moribund, archaic dysfunctional. Teacher and the student is trapped and caged in a class room and the blackboard, memorizing chapter after chapter for exam after r exam. After school, the childs attends tuition classes to get an advantage for the exam. Sri Lanka has experienced three youth insurgencies which has killed more than half a million young people and over 2 million refugees are now living abroad

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS? Those who can benefit from Ubiquity are those who are unable to enter university. In the educational ladder in Sri Lanka, 350000 enter primary school, and climb the ladder. Only 20000 can enter university, another 12,000 go abroad, and the rest end up in a dead end. Ubiquity, in the first instance should tap the students who are unable to enter the University. HOW CAN UBIQUITY CHANGE THE LIVES OF PEOPLE (OR YOUNG WOMEN) IN THE WORLD By offering choices in the curriculum for a degree, but which will also equip the child with wisdom and knowledge

about her body, its forms of energy, the planet and all what that takes. HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO IT? By a global classroom, where the student will interact with others from different continents and cultures. Where there will be room for activity and play and discovery through the homework they are given to work in teams Homework could be a visit to a forst and to itemize its itrees and plants, to list available healing systems in the country, the study of what people do in retirement etc. WHAT QUALITIES OR BEHAVIORS ARE IMPORTANT FOR SERVING THE UBIQUITY VISION? To inspire others with an alternative vision. To walk the talk. To be a team player and in selfless service WHAT TEAM DO YOU WORK IN? We are involved with building Ubiquity in Sri Lanka and promoting Ubiquity in Asia. WHAT GIFTS ARE YOU BRINGING TO THIS ENDEAVOR? Passion, endurance and focus

WHAT KIND OF COMMUNITY IS UBIQUITY Ubiquity is currently based in San Francisco but in the future it will involve many other peoples and cultures. I would say a planetary community WHAT ARE THE QUALITIES YOU WOULD WANT TO HAVE IN A COMMUNITY? The relentless pursuit of knowledge and spirituality, strong professionalism and sharing the burden. WHAT KIND OF WORLD DO YOU WANT THE NEXT GENERATION (YOUR KIDS AND GRAND KIDS TO HAVE) TO HAVE The next generation would live longer lives; science and technology will serve mankind, and liberate the mind and the brain to explore our inner world and the outer universe. HOW DOES A UBIQUITY CREATE A BETTER WORLD? By doing what it preachers. To work towards a Integral society WHATS UBIQUITIES HIGHEST CALLING To serve, in aspiring to do the impossible WHAT MAKES UBIQUITY UNIQUE? It attempts to harness new knowledge for the upliftment of mankind

WHAT IS POSSIBLE? - WHERE CAN UBIQUITY GO? There are many steps on the way. The first is to obtain the capitol and investments. Then it has the challenge of developing new curricula, then it has to enroll partners throughout the world. Then Ubiquity has to make distant learning be fun with human interaction. Describe how Ubiquity will change your life? By connectivity, enabling the sharing of knowledge across borders.
