(a!ie sat on the edge of his bed and looked around the dingy bedsit that he called ho!e. )e*d co!e to the city full of hopes drea!s and aspirations but it had all turned into a dark night!are of despair. +ooking at the pile of sketchbooks on the table (a!ie had all but lost the inspiration to draw his co!ics. ,nce his artwork had been so ali"e and "ibrant now e"erything he drew was done in black ink dark sinister worlds inhabited by creatures that haunted his drea!s. -ulling on an old .u!per (a!ie got ready to go to the caf/ downstairs. That was how he*d found the bedsit (a!ie had seen a notice in the caf/ window for a general assistant in the kitchen. The owner 0eorge had taken pity on (a!ie and agreed to let hi! li"e in the bedsit upstairs. (a!ie got paid a pittance for working in the kitchen but at least his bedsit was rent free. +ea"ing his bedsit (a!ie ran down the stairs and out through the door into the yard behind the caf/. 1sually he went in through the back entrance but it was locked so he
