1. I Introduc ction
WIZ110SR is a gateway modu ule that conv verts RS-232 protocol int to TCP/IP pr rotocol. It en nables remo ote gauging, managing an nd control of f a device th hrough the ne etwork based d on Etherne et and TCP/IP by connec cting to the existing equ ipment with h RS-232 serial interface. . In other words, w WIZ110SR is a protocol conve erter that tr ransmits the data sent by b serial equ uipment as TCP/IP T data type and converts back the TCP/IP d data receive ed through th he network i into serial data to transmit back to the equipme ent.

IP P Configurat tion Method d: Select IP setting mode, you can n select amo ong Static, DHCP,
PPPoE E mode. Static c: Static is i the option n for setting g WIZ110SR with static IP address. First select t MAC addre ess that you u want to set it as sta atic IP in b board list. Then, T the Local IP, Su ubnet, Gatew way boxes are a enabled. Input Static c IP address and click setting butt ton. Then IP is set as you want. (PPP PoE ID, Passw word box wil ll be disabled d) DHCP P: Set this option o to use e DHCP mode e. First, chec ck DHCP an nd click Set tting button n. If IP addre ess is succes ssfully acquired from DH HCP server, the t MAC add dress will be e displayed on o the board d list. (It tak kes some time to acquire e IP address from f DHCP server) When n a module on the boa ard list is se elected, IP address, Subnet mask a and Gatewa ay are displa ayed. If mod dule could not n acquire network inf formation fr rom DHCP se erver, IP address, Gatew way Address and Subnet mask will be e initialized to 0.0.0.0. PPPo oE : WIZ110S SR supports PPPoE for A ADSL user. Wh hen you sele ect PPPoE in IP Configuration Metho od PPPoE ID D and Passwo ord box will be enabled. 1. TCP is the proto ocol to estab blish the con nnection bef fore data com mmunication n, but UDP jjust processe es the data communicat tion without t connection n establishme ent. The Network mo ode of WIZ110SR can be divided into TCP Server, TCP C Client and Mixed mode e according to the conn nection estab blishing met thod. At the TCP server mode, WIZ1 110SR opera ates as serve er on the pr rocess of con nnection, an nd waits for the connect tion trial from the client t. WIZ110SR R operates as a client at t the TCP Clie ent mode on the proce ess of conne ection, and t tries to conn nect to the servers IP a and Port. Mi ixed modes supports bo oth of Serve er and Client. The comm munication process p of ea ach mode is as below.

In norm mal time WIZ110SR is on the waiting status, and if there is any connect tion request (SYN) from the monitoring cen nter, the connection c is establis shed(ESTABL LISH), and data (FIN). comm munication is s processed (Data ( Transa action). Final lly connectio on is closed ( In or rder to oper rate this mo ode, Local IP P, Subnet, Gateway G Add dress and Lo ocal Port Nu umber shoul ld be configu ured first. If WIZ Z110SR is set t as TCP Clie ent, it tries t to establish connection c to t the server r. To op perate this mode, m Local IP, Subnet, Gateway Ad ddress, Serve er IP, and Se erver port nu umber shoul ld be set. If server s IP had d domain na me, use DNS S function. In TC CP Client mo ode, WIZ110 0SR can activ vely establis sh a TCP connection to a host com mputer when n power is su upplied. As illu ustrated in the t above fig gure, data tr ransmission proceeds p as follows: 1. As power is su upplied, WIZ110SR board d operating as a TCP client mode activ vely establis shes a conne ection to the e server. 2. If t the connecti ion is comple ete, data ca an be transmitted in both h directions from the host h to the W WIZ110SR and d from WIZ110SR to the host
<Mix xed mode> In thi is mode, WIZ Z110SR norm mally operate es as TCP Server and wai its for the co onnection re equest from the peer. Ho owever, if WIZ110SR W rece eives data fr rom the seria al device bef fore connect tion is estab blished, it ch hanges to the client mod de and sends the data to the server r IP. Therefo ore, at the m mixed mode, the server mode m is oper rated prior to t the client mode. As lik ke TCP Serve er mode, the Mixed mo ode is useful for the case that the m monitoring center c tries to connect to the seria al device (in n which WIZ1 110SR is use ed) to check k device stat tus. In addit tion to this, if any eme ergency occu urs in the serial device, the modu le will chan nge to to the server and deliver the emerge Client mode to es stablish the connection t ency status of the devic ce. .

serve er. DNS(Doma ain Name Sys stem) is the database sy ystem having g information n about IP ad ddress and c correspondin ng domain na ame. When c connecting to o domain name, you can n use DNS fun nction of WIZ110SR. Inp put IP addre ess of DNS s server provid ded by ISP in DNS Serve er IP, and do omain name e in the Serv ver (Domain) If ser rver has dyna amic IP addr ress, but dom main name, if you use DNS D function, , you do not t need to co onfigure server IP address s whenever i its changed. .
D Direct IP Search

ch modules. Therefore, network inf formation of f the module such as IP P address, subnet s searc mask k and gatewa ay is required d for the sea arch. If you u check Dire ect IP search h, the field i n which IP address a is input, will be activated. In I this field, , input IP add dress of the module, and d click Sear rch button.
If module doe es not have valid netw work informa ation, Direct IP search is not avail lable.
Check k if module e is connecte ed to the N NAT or priva ate network k. If so, it is s not possib ble to conne ect to the module m from m outside.
Se earch
The S Search funct tion is used to search a all modules existing on the same LA AN. By using g UDP et will be se broad dcast, all mo odules on the e same subne earched. The s searched mo odule is displayed as MAC C address in the t Board list.
Se etting
This f function is to o complete the t configura ation change e. If you u select the e MAC address from the Board list , the defau ult configura ation value of o the modu ule will be displayed. d Change the c configuration n and click Setting bu utton to com mplete the c configuration n. The mod dule will re-initialize with the changed config guration. Changed value e is saved in n the EEPRO OM of the m odule. Thus s, the value is not remo oved even though powe er is disconne ected. The c configuration n value can be b changed i in below steps. Se elect the MAC address of f which conf figuration va alue should be b changed i in the Boar rd list. The v values config gured will be e displayed. Ch hange the va alue Cli ick Setting button. The configurat tion change will w be comp plete. Th he module will be initiali ized to the c changed valu ues (re-booting is process sed) o check confi iguration res sult, click Se earch button. To

After r the connec ction is estab blished, if th here is not data d transmission within the time de efined in Ina activity time e, the connec ction is close ed automatic cally. The d default value e is 0. If 0 0 is set, this s function is not activate ed. In this de efault setting, the conne ection is ma aintained ev ven though t there is no data transm mission. In o order to clos se the conne ection, the Close comm mand should be given. This function can be used for f more tha an two or more m system ms to connec ct to a WIZ110SR modu ule. If one sy ystem holds the connect tion to the WIZ110SR, W other systems s can not co onnect to the e module. If f there is no data transm mission durin ng the time defined d in In nactivity time e, the conne ection will be b closed for other system m to be conn nected.

Therefore, the da ata can be re egarded as error e data du ue to incons sistent data length. In order o to solve this proble em, the data from seria al can be pac cked according to the specified con ndition befor re sending to o Ethernet. The T condition n is as below w. Time e: If there is s not any ne ew data dur ring designat ted time, al ll data in th he serial buf ffer is converted to Ethernet packet. If ne ew data is re eceived, the time is re-c calculated an nd the received data d is saved d in the ser rial buffer. Time T condition can be u utilized whe en the serial data a size is variable and ha as no ending g character, but needs t to be delivered in frame unit. (If the valu ue is 0, opt tion is not us sed) Size: When data is collected as much as the defined size in the serial buffer r, it is transm mitted to Ethernet (If the valu ue is 0, opt tion is not us sed) Chara acter: The data d is collec cted in the s serial buffer until specifi ied characte er is received d, and transmitted d to Etherne et.
