CONTINUOUS WRITING

Continuous writing is a piece of continuous prose, not in note form.

Particular emphasis is placed upon the candidates ability: {what to focus in your essay}

and types To use wide vocabulary with precisions To punctuate accurately and effectively To write in paragraphs which are linked and show cohesion To spell accurately over the full range of vocabulary To respond with relevance and precision to the chosen topic To engage and sustain the interest of the reader

How your essays are graded Mark Range Description of Criteria Take note that language accuracy forms the main look-out-for Language is entirely accurate Sentence structures are sophisticated, varied and effectively used to achieve an intended effect Vocabulary shows sophistication and used with precision Punctuation is accurate and helpful Spelling is accurate Paragraphs have unity and appropriately linked Interest aroused and sustained throughout An exceptional piece of writing Language is almost always accurate but there may be more minor errors or FDS Errors may also arise from more ambitious structures which are imperfectly understood Sentences show some variation of length and type Vocabulary is wide enough to convey intended shades of meaning with some precision Punctuation is almost always accurate Spelling is nearly always accurate Paragraphs show unity and linked Interest is sustained throughout most of the composition
