Cognitive: 1.1 Volley an object repeatedly with a partner, using the forearm pass. Psychomotor: 2.1 Explain how to increase force based on the principles of biomechanics. 2.6 Explain the role of the legs, shoulders, and forearm in the forearm pass. 2.8 Illustrate how the intended direction of an object is affected by the angle of the implement or body part at time of contact. Affective: 5.1 Participate productively in group physical activities. 5.3 Identify and define the role of each participant in a cooperative physical activity.
Big Ideas:

The big idea is to give our students the tools in order to improve their overall performance during this volleyball unit. I hope this unit will promote students to live a physical active lifestyle. Studies show that students are more than likely to be physically active if they have fun while participating. Student will understand the importance of being physically active. They will also be able to perform the 6 basic volleyball skills need for volleyball.
Unit Summary:

During this volleyball unit students will be given the opportunity to improve their volleyball skills. Volleyball consists of 6 basic skills that will be mastered by our students by the end of this unit. Students will show improvement in skills such as passing, setting, spiking, receiving, serving and blocking. In addition to these skills, student will also learn offensive and defensive strategies that will help. Modified games will be designed in order to help enrich the skills learned in this unit. This unit is designed to help students improve their skills while having fun with their peers.

Quick Write During this quick write assessment I will asking a series of question. I will ready each question aloud to the classroom and each student will have 5-7 minutes to write their response. This assessment will take place during the beginning of the volleyball unit thus allowing me to get a greater comprehension of any prior volleyball knowledge.

Flash Card Mania This assessment will give student the opportunity to assess their own knowledge in regards to volleyball rules. Quiz Time This quiz assessment will focus on the critical features of the fundament volleyball skills These skill have been the main focus of our lecture hence the creation of this quiz. This quiz is short therefore every student will be expected to complete this quiz. Volley Puzzle This crossword puzzle assessment was created to test the knowledge of volleyball history reviewed during the beginning of the volleyball unit. Free Response Survey This assessment was created to allow our students freedom to explain what they have learned throughout. They will also be given the opportunity to express any concerns they might have in regards to the volleyball lecture unit.

Written Assessment of Critical Feature This volleyball lecture has almost come to an end. The only written assessment left to complete is a detailed written description of the critical feature pertaining to each fundamental skill. Imaging you have an identical twin and your identical twin has shown sudden interest in trying of for the school team. Tryouts are next year, which gives them plenty of time to learn the basic volleyball skills needed to succeed in volleyball. Your sibling is aware you completed a volleyball unit lecture with the most amazing physical education teacher on the planet (me) and is coming to you for help due to your volleyball expertise. You accept to become your siblings volleyball trainer in order to prepare them for the upcoming volleyball tryouts. I forgot to mention one important piece of information; your twin is deaf. As her trainer it is your responsibly to provide a detailed explanation of the critical elements of each fundamental volleyball skill. Please provide a clear description of each skill in paragraph form.
