Here is the data I have gathered. As I have explained the .looking backward
for a comparison is difficult. The statistics we compile on a regular
periodic basis are not compatible with this task. \s for Data Sources the following list is accurate

of CLASS. The pass'port side of CLASS has HHS data on deadbeat dadsi and U.S.
Marshals data. The HHS data check has a legislative basis linked with
passport issuance. We now get NCIC Wanted Persons data which should cover
the same population as the Marshals Service data.

Current CLASS datasources:

FBI ..-7 9/11 Personal Privacy

INS
DEA
DOJ Office of Special Investigations
-TIPOFF
Interpol
-Customs
Intelligence Sources other than TIPOFF

John,

Many thanks for your help over the phone last week. I wanted to check
if you had been able to pull some approximate CLASS numbers together for
us, as we'd discussed. We would like to incorporate them somehow into
our report, which we are finishing up by the end of this week. Please
let me know how it's coming along. Once acjain, I appreciate all your
assistance!

Many thanks!

Best,
Gabrielle

records from the FBI. National security lookouts based on FBI requests were
added on a case-by-case basis prior to 9/1 1 . This are found amongst other

The U.S. Marshals Service data is only in the passport database and was
never in the visa database. I don't know when it was added by passport, but
I think it was post 9/11.

John,

Thanks very much for getting us those figures! I understand that the
pre-9/11 numbers are estimates because you're unable to go back and pull
any exact numbers. But thank you for getting us some ballpark figures.

I have one additional question though. You gave us a list of current

CLASS data sources. Are these the same data sources that CLASS had
pre-9/11 ? I know that the NCIC records werenl in CLASS - but thfere was
a relatively small number of FBI records of some sort in CLASS, correct?
Also, was the Marshals Service data included in the visa lookout side
of CLASS pre-9/11? (I know it was included in the passport side but I
can't recall if you said it was in the visa side prior to 9/11.)

Again, many thanks!

Best, /
Gabrielle
