HI: I'jn attaching a few documents with responses to the questions.

First, I did the namechecks and copied the output to a word doc. - MEMO
MARCH 25.DOC. The format is a little different - the unique ID appears to
the right of the name - but all the data is the same. The excel sheets are
for the Refusal Code table and the Site Code table.

Re question #4 - ^es, State ancl IN^hav«,starKJardizQd refusal codes for the

sections of Uv^Jii^ both agencies'use, so a *6c1" is the same in both
agencies! Therf art some codes unique to one agency or the other. For
example* 00* Is unique to State.
Question 6 should be addressed to VO.

3!
Hi Lots:

Thanks once again for providing me with the CLASS lookouts for the visa
revocation cases that GAO is reviewing.

I have a few quick questions for you:

were 2 people for whom I neglected to give you names and

biographies. Could you please do a CLASS check for them?

I can either pick up these additional CLASS runs, or, if possible, you
could fax them fbi |to my attention.

3. When I met with you earlier, you printed me a copy of the "Visa
Refusal Code Table" from your intranet. The "visa refusal description"
column got cut off when you printed it but you mentioned that you could
get someone to format it correctly so that this would not happen. At the
time, I thought the cut-off version would be okay, but now I'm wondering
if you'd be able to get it formatted so that it's not cut off? I didn't
realize at the time how crucial the "visa refusal description" column
was!

4. Do you know if INS and State have standardized refusal codes? For
example, would a "6C" refusal code on an INS record and a State record
meaki the same thing?

5. Do you have a document which lists the post abrreviation codes? For
example, I've been able to guess that JDD is Jeddah and that ISL is
Islamabad, but a table of the post abbreviation codes would be very
helpful.

6. Last question, I promise. Do you know when the NSER and VRVK refusal
codes were created? I have a cable from the Visa Office which states
that VRVK wis created in August 2002, yet in some of the CLASS
print-outs I received from you, I've seen the VRVK show up in records
that appear to have been created before August 2002. Also, I believe
that NSER (the alien registration program) was not started until
September 2002; yet I have seen CLASS entries with the NSER refusal code
as early as February 2002.1 don't understand why this would be! Can
lookouts be edited at a later date? If you don't know the answer to this
mystery, is there sohneone else to whom you could refer me?

THANKS so much foryour help. As I said, for all of the requested

docs/CLASS runs, I can either pick them up at your convenience or you
could fax them to me aj I
