Other than ramps that are part of the accessible routes providing access in accordance with Sections 1108.2.2 through 1108.2.4.1 ramped aisles within assembly rooms or spaces shall con form with the pro visions in Section 1024.11. !urb ramps shall com ply with "!! #11$.1. &ehicle ramps in par'ing garages for pedestrian e(it access shall not be re)uired to com ply with Sections 1010.% through 1010.* when they are not an accessible route serving accessible par'ing spaces other re)uired accessible elements or part of an accessible means of egress.

1010.2 Slope. +amps used as part of a means of egress shall have a running slope not steeper than one unit vertical in 12 units hori, ontal -8.per cent slope/. The slope of other ramps shall not be steeper than one unit vertical in eight units hori, ontal -12.0.per cent slope/. Exception: #isle ramp slope in occupancies of 1roup # shall com ply with Section 1024.11. 1010.3 Cross slope. The slope measured perpendicular to the direction of travel of a ramp shall not be steeper than one unit vertical in 48 units hori, ontal -2.per cent slope/. 1010.4 Vertical rise. The rise for any ramp run shall be %0 inches -$22 mm/ ma( i mum. 1010.5 Minimum dimensions. The minimum dimensions of means of egress ramps shall com ply with Sections 1010.0.1 through 1010.0.%.

1010.5.1 Width. The min i mum width of a means of egress ramp shall not be less than that re)uired for corridors by Section 1012.2. The clear width of a ramp and the clear width between hand rails if pro vided shall be %2 inches -*14 mm/ min i mum.
1010.5.2 ead room. The min i mum head room in all parts of the means of egress ramp shall not be less than 80 inches -20%2 mm/. 1010.5.3 !estrictions. 3eans of egress ramps shall not reduce in width in the direction of egress travel. 4ro5ections into the re)uired ramp and landing width are prohibited. 6oors opening onto a landing shall not re duce the clear width to less than 42 inches -102$ mm/. 1010." #andin$s. +amps shall have landings at the bottom and top of each ramp points of turning en trance e( its and at doors. 7andings shall com ply with Sections 1010.2.1 through 1010.2.0. 1010.".1 Slope. 7andings shall have a slope not steeper than one unit vertical in 48 units hori, ontal -2. per cent slope/ in any direction. !hanges in level are not permitted. 1010.".2 Width. The landing shall be at least as wide as the widest ramp run ad 5oining the landing. 1010.".3 #en$th. The landing length shall be 20 inches -1020 mm/ minimum.

1010.".4 Chan$e indirection. 8here changes in direction of travel occur at landings pro vided between ramp runs the landing shall be 20 inches by 20 inches -1024 mm by 1024 mm/ min i mum. Exception: 7andings in nonaccessible 1roup +.2 and +.% individual dwelling units as applicable in Section 101.2 are permitted to be %2 inches by %2 inches -*14 mm by *14 mm/ minimum.

1010.".5 %oor &a's. 8here door ways are located ad5acent to a ramp land ing maneuvering clearances re )uired by "!! #11$.1 are permit ted to over lap the re)uired landing area.

1010.( !amp construction. #ll ramps shall be built of materials consistent with the types permitted for the type of construction of the building9 e(cept that wood hand rails shall be permit ted for all types of construction. +amps used as an e(it shall con form to the applicable re)uirements of Sections 101*.1 and 101*.1.1 through 101*.1.% for vertical e(it en closures. 1010.(.1 !amp sur)ace. The surface of ramps shall be of slip.resistant materials that are securely at tached. 1010.(.2 *utdoor conditions. Out door ramps and out door approaches to ramps shall be de signed so that water will not ac cu mu late on wal'ing surfaces. "n other than occupancies in 1roup +.% and occupancies in 1roup : that are accessory to an occupancy in 1roup +.% surfaces and landings which are part of e(terior ramps in climates sub5ect to snow or ice shall be de signed to minimi,e the accumulation of same.

1010.+ and rails. +amps with a rise greater than 2 inches -102 mm/ shall have hand rails on both sides complying with Section 100*.11. 1010., Ed$e protection. ;dge protection complying with Section 1010.*.1 or 1010.*.2 shall be pro vided on each side of ramp runs and at each side of ramp landings. Exceptions: 1. 2. %. ;dge protection is not re)uired on ramps not re)uired to have hand rails pro vided they have flared sides that com ply with the "!! #11$.1 curb ramp provisions. ;dge protection is not re)uired on the sides of ramp landings serving an ad 5oining ramp run or stair way. ;dge protection is not re)uired on the sides of ramp landings having a vertical dropoff of not more than 0.0 inch -1% mm/ within 10 inches -204 mm/ hori,on tally of the re)uired landing area. 1010.,.1 !ailin$s. # rail shall be mounted be low the hand rail 1$ inches to 1* inches -4%2 mm to 48% mm/ above the ramp or landing surface. 1010.,.2 Cur- or -arrier. # curb or barrier shall be provided that pre vents the pas sage of a 4.inch. diameter -102 mm/ sphere where any portion of the sphere is within 4 inches -102 mm/ of the floor or ground surface. 1010.10 .uards. 1uards shall be pro vided where re)uired
