This is from a photo I took on vacation in West Virginia after taking a wrong turn and crossing the state line into Maryland. I entered this in the All Area Saginaw art show and was accepted, the Saginaw News featured this painting in their article.
I took a 4-week wildlife painting class (~1974) taught by artist Bill Adair. He had driftwood samples and mounted pheasants in the classroom that we used for reference.

This was my first commissioned paintings that my high school art teacher suggested me to paint for an owner of a local bar. He was from Minnesota and a big Vikings fan living in Michigan.

I sold a painting of this to another guy on my high school golf team for one dollar. He is now one of the top 100 golf instructors in the world and the head pro at Butler National in Chicago.

This is pastels on a large piece of blue paper rolled out. I did this as a high school art assignment and this hung at my parents for many years.
I was commissioned to do this for a seminary student while I was at Olivet, I did a pencil drawing first and then the oil painting. I do not have a good photo of the painting.
