Discover the Love of Christ

Frostproof, Florida
Pastors Remarks
Dear Church Family, It is hard for me to believe that Thanksgiving and then Christmas are just around the corner. Thanksgiving can be bypassed rather quickly but dont forget to take time to be thankful. What a great God we serve! We have so much to be thankful for and if you take some time to reflect, you will come to that conclusion, if you have not already done so. Count your blessings! On Sunday evenings I am sharing on Great Commission Living: Love Your NeighborShare Christ. The core is the Great Commandment (love God-Matthew 22) and love people, the Great Commission (love people-Matthew 28). The six expressions of love and evangelism are pray for the lost, interact with and serve the lost, evangelism training, friendly-up-the-church, harvesting efforts/events, and deploying disciples. This is not a one -time event, but a process which we need to engage until Jesus comes back. This process really is something that springs from transformational church surveys that we did some months ago. Some felt like the church did not have a clear process in place for us to follow. Notice the six expressions are nothing new. These are what a Great Commission church should be doing. This will be the track that we run on. My prayer is that we each make a commitment to it. At a recent Florida Baptist Convention conference I heard these statistics: An estimated 177,000 Protestant churches in America have an average attendance of less than 100. At least 80% of churches are plateaued or declining. Every week, across the U.S., between 50 and 75 churches are closing their doors.

Those are alarming numbers. That is why it is imperative that we do what God has called us to be and do. We all need spiritual renewal, as individuals and collectively. I am thankful for those who will be involved in My Hope America, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association evangelism event that will take place the first week in November. Please pray for the hosts and the people who we will have contact with. In His love,

Frostproof Care Center

We at the Care Center are preparing for a busy and exciting holiday season. Last year, 173 food boxes were given to families during the holidays. On October 21, we began accepting applications for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving apps will be accepted until November 15 and Christmas apps until December 17. Assistance to these families would be impossible without your help. Opportunities for service are listed below: 1. Food Meats, yams, cranberry sauce, pasta, macaroni and cheese, dried beans, rice, soups, flour, sugar, small oil, drinks/juices, tomato sauce, canned, shelf stable, or powdered milk, and canned vegetables/fruits, and meats and meals (beef stew, chicken and dumplings etc.). 2. Gifts for children and teens birth to 15 years old - We try to give every child one special gift and two smaller gifts. Gifts should be new or like new. If you desire to wrap your gifts please indicate on the outside if it is for a boy or girl and the age and category of the gift, i.e. car/truck, doll, game, sports, arts n crafts. 3. Financial assistance - We gave gifts to 379 children of our community last Christmas. The financial needs are always great. 4. Personal Care Items - Deodorant, toothpaste, soap, toothbrush, shampoo etc. are needed for our clients. 5. Volunteer your time - Care Center is always in need of helping hands. During the holiday season there are many additional tasks to do such as wrapping gifts, filling food boxes and delivering. 6. Adopt a child or family - Shopping for a particular child or family can make this Christmas time special. Care Center tries to fill specific requests for each child. Many organizations, businesses and individuals have increased their own Christmas joy by giving to a family in need! You may call the Care Center to be put on our Adopt a Family list. 7. Families in need - Please let us know of any families who could benefit from these special holiday services. The staff and volunteers of the Frostproof Care Center would like to wish you and your church a joyful and Christ-centered holiday season. We appreciate your support throughout the year. Thank you for your assistance. In His Service,

Ralph C. Waters

Dear Church Family, First of all, I would like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who was able to volunteer for our TRUNK OR TREAT community outreach event. Once again, I am reminded of how blessed our church is with people who are willing to donate their time and energy in helping the people around us. In total we had over 1000 people from our community in attendance! I look forward to seeing the impact that this outreach will have in the near future. With the holiday season just around the corner, we at 02 youth are excited to see what God has in store for us this year. Our largest event of the month is our Thanksgiving Banquet on November 27th at 6:00PM, and we will need to have all hands at their stations to prepare for this fellowship. Please make note that our Thanksgiving banquet is open to not only students but to everyone, including parents, church members, and visitors. Around 90% of our students parents do not have a church home, and we would love for you to join us during this time to welcome them into our family. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call me at(863) 635-3603. In closing, please continue to pray for our students during this holiday season. For many of them, this time of the year does not bring much celebration, but sadness. Even at their young age, many have lost loved ones during this time and can also feel the financial pressures and depression that this season naturally brings. How fortunate are we then that all we have to do is point to a God that is abundant in both joy and peace. Keep them in your prayers so that they may find Him instead of turning to the world in search of ways to get by. If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this. C.S. Lewis In His grip, Bro. Brian

KidZ~Korner News
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, For His loving kindness is everlasting Let the redeemed of the LORD say so... Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary Psalm 107 1-2 God is indeed a gracious God. I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve Him through the childrens ministry. I am very thankful for those serving beside me in Sunday School, Childrens Church, Wednesday evening programs, KidZ on Mission, Van Ministry, KidZ Camp, Good News Club, and Preschool Ministries. This takes a lot of time, energy, money and leaders. Each event or outreach we do has a purpose and a goal- Reaching Boys and Girls and their Families with the Gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him. So many thanks go out to the faithful servants in Preschool and Childrens Departments, as well as the staff and others who serve in the various ministries of First Baptist Church. If you have an hour or two a week and would like to plug in somewhere-contact me, Brian, or the office staff and we will be happy to discuss ministry opportunities with you. Each year the KidZ department has fund raisers to supplement our budget and provide funds for unbudgeted items. One upcoming fund raiser will be the KidZ~ Korner Caf. We will be serving lunch (dine in or carry out) in the Smith Building on the first Sunday of each month beginning in December. Menus will be listed in the church bulletin and on the KidZ~Korner Face book page. TRUNK OR TREAT was a big success! THANK YOU to Mike Cannon for cooking 1000 hotdogs (Doug Wise for loaning us his big grill!), Gene Schwidde and Sharon Englands life group classes who tag-teamed to put together the sack lunches and pass them out to our guests. Several Life-Group classes along with the O2 Youth Group were represented in passing out treats and tracts, registration table, and setting up for the event. Thank you to the many folks for providing bags of candy. Next step following up on the many contacts we received! The Angel Tree Project is coming up soon and we already have a few names of children and families. If you would like to participate and are uncertain what to purchase, we have folks who would love to shop for you! You may purchase gift cards or make a monetary donation, designating it to ANGEL TREE PROJECT. Thanks and God Bless you in advance for your generous and loving spirit towards the less fortunate. In His Service-For His KidZ, Diane Cannon
