In order to ll the Project Leader pipeline, Technips Council for Project Management (CPM)--comprised of senior operations executives worldwide--and Technip University created a dedicated program of learning and career development for professionals in the Project Management job family: the Project Leader Development Program (PLDP). This is a program for the career ambitious, self-motivated professional, who thrives on challenge and has the self-discipline to execute a skill development plan. As we all learn differently, the PLDP offers a rich variety of learning methods to develop your skills
Learning through Experience-70%
The PLDP aims to have 70% of your learning on the job. This includes rotary periods, specic tasks, development of assignments in situ and on-the-job stretch assignments. Special job-stretch assignments may include getting larger scope or scale on an existing project, or being made a deputy to a more senior person. These will be specic skill-building tasks done during naturally occurring project events.

A Recipe for Success: The Project Management Development Planner


In order to help you take action on the development activities that match your needs, we have developed a comprehensive guide: the Project Management Developer Planner. Using the Planner, you, along with Human Resources, Talent Managers and your manager, identify development activities that improve your project management competencies. For every competency in the Project Management Competency Framework, there are several pages of activities that build your skills. Available on TPNet/ Technip University

Learning from Others-20 %


Participating in this program requires you to dedicate 20% of your development to learning from others. By working alongside experienced project managers, being exposed to experts during the knowledge transfer process, taking advantage of mentoring and coaching, as well as social networking, you will build skills.

Learning through Training-10%


10% of this program will be based on knowledge acquisition that still requires classroom-based learning. Technip University will maintain curricula that is available to you in your region. It will include various educational opportunities such as classes, seminars, simulations, and eLearning.

How do I join?
Youre talented, motivated, ambitious and hungry to learn? The next step is to contact your Learning & Development Manager (Training Ofcer) and your Talent Manager.

Do I need to be sponsored?
No, the program is about you and your learning. It is designed to give you the tools, with the support of your manager and HR, to take charge of your career.

How much time does it take to get an Individual Development Plan (IDP) dened?
Below is an estimation of the time required at each step of the process (indicative): Induction Training (Kick off Workshop) Self Assessment Gap Identication & Prioritization IDP Denition (Meeting) 4 hours 30 minutes max. 30 minutes max. 60 minutes max.

How do development activities combine with my current job?


The implementation of the IDP will very much depend on the competency, the gap, the mix of activities you select and your personal commitment. The on-the-job training becomes part of your daily tasks, but in some cases, you will have to arrange special learning time with your manager.

How do I organise my on-the-job learning?


As you create your IDP, consult the Project Management Development Planner, an online resource on the Universitys web site. It gives you numerous ways to learn on-the-job. Its up to you to work out how you take part in naturally occurring project events that build new skills.

Is there a time-limit on reaching competency levels?


Because of the differences in difculty, the varying nature of competency gaps, and the different pace at which we all learn, there is no ofcial limit on reaching desired competency levels. Of course, the sooner you reach desired competency levels the sooner you can concentrate on others and take your career further.

How long does the PLDP last?


Its evergreen. There is no dened campaign with opening and closing dates. Career development is a never-ending journey as long as you are a life-long learner.

What does the PLDP mean for my career?


This program will build skills to take on the larger, more complex projects that Technip is aggressively pursuing and winning. Mastering these project management competencies fuels your growth within Group. Promotions are not automatic, but at Technip, if you are serious, we are serious about taking your career further.
