SELF-TITLED ALBUM
Placebo released their self-titled album in 1996, the post-punk, grunge sound would be a launching pad for a band set on stardom

PLACEBO FRONTMAN: BRIAN MOLKO


Brian Molko is the lead singer and guitarist for Placebo, he collaborates with Olsdal to write all the lyrics and music for their songs. Born on 10, December 1972 in Belgium

MAN OF MANY TALENTS


Stefan Alexander Bo Olsdal was born 31 March 1974 in Sweden; he plays bass, guitars and keys and provides backing vocals to Brian Molko.

collaborate on the title track of Placebos sophomore album Without You Im Nothing, released in 1998.

BRIAN MOLKO PEFORMS IN VELVET GOLDMINE


The band would also taste some success as actors in the movie Velvet Goldmine, a tale about the glam rock scene in the U.K. during the 1970s. They dressed up (homage to Bowies Ziggy Stardust perhaps), and sang a cover version of the T. Rex song 20th Century Boy,

BLACK MARKET MUSIC


The year 2000 would bring about the darkest and most unapologetic album by the band to date, Black Market Music was released

PERFORMING LIVE
Slave to the Wage, dedicated to the memory of their friend Scott Pierning who had died during production on the album, its a race, a race for rats, a race for rats to die a morose tale about working yourself to the grave.

SLEEPING WITH GHOSTS


Sleeping With Ghosts was released in 2003, less dark and more kind than its predecessor, with polished guitar and a more listener friendly approach

PLAYING LIVE WITH A LEGEND


the band would play Wembley arena with legendary rock musician Robert Smith of The Cure, he sang the Placebo track Without You Im Nothing with Molko and Boys Dont Cry, a Cure classic.

DRESSED FOR A FUNERAL


Meds was released in 2006, it would be the last album that drummer Steve Hewitt would record with the band.

PROJEKT REVOLUTION TOUR


The following year they would land a spot on the Projekt Revolution tour in support of Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance, Steve Hewitt would leave the band after the tour

PLACEBO WITH NEW DRUMMER STEVE FORREST


Steve Forrest from the band Evaline would join with Placebo in 2008; recording of Battle for the Sun would begin and be released in 2009.

BATTLE FOR THE SUN


Ashtray Heart, the opening track, was actually the bands name before they became Placebo and came from a Captain Beefheart lyric She used me like an ashtray heart.

SEVENTH STUDIO ALBUM


The band took a break after extensive touring and released their most recent record Loud Like Love in September 2013

MTV EUROPEAN MUSIC AWARDS


Placebo have sold over 11 million albums worldwide, and received nominations and awards for best album, single, and music video.
