Analysis of Questionnaire

Gender
18% Male Female 82%

1 The first question I asked my audience was their gender, so later if there were any anomalies I could attribute it to the different genders. My target audience is aimed at both genders, so at a later date I could identify which genders prefer the film. For instance, I believe it will be more appealing to females, but with some male interest, as I do not wish to isolate my target audience too much.

2 I next asked the audience for their age, obviously I have a target audience age of 20-35, however not wishing to affect my research group and offend the people I offered brackets for a more confidential aspect. As some people were too old they created a new age bracket or wrote their age next to it. There

3 - I was unsure what would take the forefront of my opening sequence; however after the analysis of this question I have decided that the introduction of my main character will be the emphasis. Obviously the research gained, shown in the page above, is relatively even in percentage. However, the female audience preferred the character introduction so I will carry this forward into my Opening sequence.

Analysis of Questionnaire
4 - This question was openly asked to the audience to get their true opinion of the genre and their own personal interests. This has now changed my opening sequence of my film; I was previously attempting to adapt a hardhitting plot within my film. However, as I have received this information I will try to add a morality aspect to my sequence to ask questions of the audience.

5 This question was fuelled by the task we were set, as we have to create the first two minutes of a film we have a short window of opportunity to drag the audience into the rest of the narrative. The information collated from this question therefore gave me the raw facts to proceed with my Opening sequence, focussing more heavily on the character and his background story.

6 I was sure of my narrative for the short two minutes. However I was unsure of how I wished to portray it. The quantitative data I have collected here will therefore push me towards setting up the main character in my opening sequence, and that will proceed to the forefront of my piece. As shown within question 6, the data received fits in well together.

Do you like the opening sequence to include music throughout?

7 The social drama genre often relies heavily on non-diegetic sound due to it being set in a real life context it adds to the continuity. However as I was only planning and shooting the opening two minutes I was unsure how to proceed. This question took care of any insecurities and questions I had harboured previously. Now I will include music (an undertone background music), just audible over the dialogue.

Any improvements on the narrative I proposed? - 8

Good, don't change it 30% 50% 20% Allow the audience to relate to character more Include more plot twists

Analysis of Questionnaire
8 I included this question at the end of my questionnaire, accompanied by the narrative for my opening sequence. Just too see how my target audience received it, and if there were any improvements. I have taken on board the comments made however it is hard to include plot twists in the first two minutes, however the audience could relate more as they have at one point in their lives been my characters age.
