Admissions Criteria
#dmissions decisions are based on the candidateAs academic achievements and potential as well as his or her personal accomplishments. The admissions committee reviews a number of factors C records of past studies such as 5rade Boint #verage =5B#? study plan personal statement and letters of recommendation. Other achievement records and specific Dualifications such as language proficiency are also taken into consideration. The candidateAs application is reviewed in the conte3t of the level of studies completed Duality of achievements and characteristics of institutions attended. (inally the appropriateness of the applicantAs academic goals and the suitability of preparation for the proposed program of studies are assessed. Two letters of recommendation from teachers or professors are reDuired. Eomplete your part of this form and along with a stamped and addressed envelope supply them directly to two recommenders who know you well. 9e sure to give them adeDuate time to complete the forms before the application deadline. 7ecommendations should be sealed in an official envelope and signed across the back by the recommenders. Lour recommenders should give us their appraisals of the contributions you made in their classes or academic fields. They are asked to give their personal impressions about your character intellectual ability aptitude in research and the Duality of your previous works and potential.

These documents detail your academic achievements and are reDuired from every institution that youAve attended in the past =e3cluding elementary M middle school records?. Transcripts must provide a record of the courses you have taken in each year of study along with the final grades. "f an institution cannot provide a year!by!year record then the school official must at least provide us with a listing of the disciplines you have studied =i.e. +nglish 9iology ;istory etc.? and a summary of your achievements in each. Blease submit official transcripts as issued directly by the institutions you have attended. Important Notes for All Applicants



SNU does not generally acknowledge international schools located in Korea as foreign schools. #ll documents should be in +nglish or Korean. . "f itAs in any other language you must submit a notarized*certified translation =in +ng. or Kor.? completed by a public notary in the country in which the document was originally produced.

"f any of the submitted materials contain false information admission will be rescinded. Original documents should be submitted. Should they be unavailable however copies must be authorized by the originating institution before they are submitted. Students whose graduations were pending at other institutions during the time of application should submit their 5raduation Eertificates and the Eertificates of their degrees to the Office of #dmissions within $& days after their enrollment at SNU. (ailure to submit this document may revoke the admission offer.

Undergraduate transfer applicants of Korean origin must submit the entire record of their Eertificate of (acts Eoncerning the +ntry and +3it. "n case of submission of false or unverifiable information =especially those resulting from multiple passport handling? or failure to submit all of the reDuisite records may adversely affect oneAs candidacy for acceptance.

Undergraduate transfer applicants must submit all of the relevant documents from their respective universities =i.e. offici!" transcripts letters of attendance etc.? to demonstrate the current matriculation status and attendance at their present bachelorAs degree program.

#dmitted students may not defer enrollment to a later semester. Students who wish to defer enrollment must re!apply. Korean citizens who hold dual citizenship are considered as J#pplicants of Korean Origin.K They are not eligible to apply as foreign students. Those applicants who were admitted to SNU within the last & years through international admissions and intend to apply to a FasterAs or Goctoral program are e3empt from submitting the following)

Official certificates of graduation and transcripts from schools and*or universities outside of Korea Official document indicating parent!child relationship between the applicant and his*her parent

#pplicants e3empt from submitting any of the above documents should submit the Eertificate of #ttendance or 5raduation at SNU instead.

#ll transfer and graduate applicants must submit a document that verifies the current institution is eDuivalent to a four!year college*university. Perification of #cademic 7ecord form will be part of the application and you will be able to print upon completion of online application. Getailed account of individual admissions decision for each applicant cannot be disclosed. Blease be sure that in principle any modification or cancellation will not be accepted after completing the application. #pplicants should take full responsibility for any disadvantages due to the mistakes or omissions on the application.
