Messages from WOT Users
Every day we receive emails from people around the world. Most often the letters are from satisified
users. This one tickled our funny-bone, so we wanted to share it with you.

Hey ya'll...I don't sit around waiting for an opportunity to add my two cents worth on topics, but I
feel I should give ya'll some credit where credit is due.
I am 54 years old and was dragged "kicking and screaming" into the computer scene about two
years ago. My new job as a construction project manager for a company in Austin demanded a
crash course in the basics. They set me up with a computer to work with from home.
It did not take long for me to get dialed in to the advantages of the internet and email. Anyway,
just like a "babe in the woods", I wondered off surfing the internet. One thing led to another and,
being a red blooded American male, I found myself checking out websites that I'm sure my
mother would not approve of. You know the rest: my email was filling up with crap and it was
all getting really annoying.
About that time my daughter came to town and, "fessin" up", I told her of my problem and asked
for help. She laughed and said she and her husband had been through the same thing. She fixed
things on the computer, arranged for a new address, then gave me the address of a couple of porn
sites that could be trusted. So far so good.
Now...I found myself looking up sites for legitimate businesses (IE Microsoft, etc.) When I
googled a query an entire page would light up with web sites. I would check them out, one by
one: unaware that some were malicious sites that did not have my best interests in mind. Wow,
the adult sites I checked out on occasion were actually safer than these "legitimate" sites.
I use Mozilla Firefox as a web browser, and Gmail for my correspondence. I found your package
on their add on page. I have tried a few of their other offers but ended up uninstalling most of
them. Anyway, I had forgotten that I installed your program, when several days later, I was
researching something and your "red circle" warnings popped up and clued me in to stay away
from certain sites.
I feel so much safer now knowing that I had big brother (or maybe big sister) guiding me safely
through the crap that is out there just waiting to bite me.
Note: One way you can top what you have going now is to come up with a program that does the
following:
When a malicious site attempts to enter our private world (or computer), find a way to "right then
and there", send their bad juju right back up their own tailpipes with some bad mojo from us.
Maybe that would be stooping to their level, but it just might be worth it to give them a dose of
the crap they are sneaking in on us. I'll just bet you have somebody that knows how to do that. I'll
be looking for it from you on the Google add ons. I'd go for it...
Anyway...Great job...Thanks...You can bleep a few things here and there and post this review of
your stuff anywhere you like, with my name on it.
Thanks for watching my back,

Larry Latham

Are my ratings anonymous?

Yes, ratings are anonymous (or pseudonymous, more specifically)

unless you choose to create an account on our website and reveal
your identity. If you simply use the add-on, your ratings are linked to
a random identifier generated when the add-on was first installed.

How does WOT use my IP address? Is it private?

We are serious about privacy and would never misuse your

personal information. Your IP address is stored in our server logs
for 30 days, after which all logs are deleted. Please read our
privacy policy for more information.

Sometimes I am unable to agree or disagree with comments on

the scorecards. What’s up with that?
On domains with controversial ratings, the agree/disagree function is
disabled. However, you may rate and add your own new comment.

How do I delete a rating?

There are now two ways to do it. One way is to go to your Profile
page and select the My Ratings tab. You can delete a rating by
clicking on the red X.

A new way is to delete it straight from the scorecard. Click Edit my

rating, and an option to Delete appears.
