Rescue 1122 Jhang

BACKGROUND:
Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, Jhang service started in Jhang from
October 2009 with mapping and Community Awareness program in a loaned building as the
central station was still under construction. Service became operational after getting
Ambulances in November 2009. The Central Station Rescue 1122, Jhang was handed over in
January 2010 which was still under construction.
During the period of November 2009 to September 2010 Rescue 1122 Jhang has saved 6692
victims as 2398 got first aid and 4293 were hospitalized, responded to 5546 emergencies in
Jhang and got about 69471 calls.

OBJECTIVES:

To complete mapping in district Jhang

To start Rescue 1122 service in district Jhang.

To run community awareness program effectively in district Jhang.

To maintain physical fitness and professionalism in rescuers.

To make District Jhang a safe zone

TARGETS ACHIEVED:

Mapping: Rescue 1122, Jhang started mapping in October 2010 and generated
complete Map of Jhang area.
Activation of District Emergency Board: With the start of rescue service in
Jhang District emergency board was activated and monthly meetings are held
regularly. Sites for water hydrants installation surveyed and presented to DCO for
approval.
Emergency Ambulance Service: Rescue 1122, Jhang started responding
emergencies from November 2010.The details of major incidents are as follows;

FIRE EMERGENCIES:
Rescue 1122, Jhang responded first case of fire in August 2010, after receiving
water Bowzer and dealt 06 fire emergencies till said period.

COMMUNITY AWARENESS:
Rescue 1122, Jhang started Community Awareness program in October 2009.

TRAINING OF RESCUERS:
Skill tests in practical as well as in written form are also being conducted on
monthly basis.
District Emergency Officer and Emergency Officer give regular lectures to EMTs
& DRs and conduct Patient Shifting drills and fire drills.
Water Rescue team was established in district Jhang after testing and training at
swimming pool and Trimmu Head Works.

ANNUAL REPORT OF COMMUNITY AWARENESS

Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue1122, Jhang started working on community
Awareness Program since October 2009.The Community Awareness & Safety Program
started from educational Institutes of District Jhang. Almost all private and Government
Institutes has been visited so far, for Community Awareness, Emergency Evacuation

Campaign against the use of plastic bags, we motivated public to
use paper or fabric bags in collaboration of YES network and
British Council.
6. The No. of Fire Hydrants installed in high risk, commercial, high
rise
buildings and industrial areas.
The EDOR emphasized on the planning for the whole city for fire
hydrants. According to him, the locations like schools, industrial
zone and populated density areas are important for installation of
fire hydrants.
DEO Rescue 1122 informed the board for his requirement about
the water hydrants. He described the specification of his needs.
He pointed out the difference of pipes which had already installed
and his requirements. He urged for the installation of fire
hydrants as per over head and underground according to the
situation. Furthermore, he would provide the list of spots for the
installation of fire hydrants.
TMA Shorkot told the Board that in his city, the fire hydrants
already exist in working position. But it should check if these fire
hydrants are compatible with the requirements of Rescue 1122.
The District Emergency Officer, Rescue 1122 Jhang submitted a
report on Proposed Water Hydrants Points in District Jhang.

1. Our budget is very less as compared to the handled
Emergencies during the year of 2010.
2. We have claimed only required budget.
3. Very limited number of Fake calls responded.
4. Very limited number of Already Shifted cases.
5. No misuse of electricity, Sui gas.
6. Both side paper printing encouraged for internal
communication in Rescue 1122 Jhang.
