To Begin:
1. Insert your Store Value Card, ATM or credit card. 2. Read the on-screen message and click I Agree to continue.

To Sign Off:
1. Save your work to your personal, external media. 2. Quit all applications. 3. Click once on the Session Information button at the bottom of the screen. 4. Click Logoff. 5. Your card will eject. 6. Activating One of Your Fonts:


1. Click My Documents from the Kinkos Access Bar at the top of the screen.

2. Copy your fonts from your external media into the My Documents folder. 3. Open Adobe Type Manager Deluxe 4.1, located in the Start menu. 4. Click the Add Fonts tab. 5. Click Add. 6. A dialog box appears asking you to name the new set. Be sure to activate the set at this point by placing a checkmark next to Activate New Set. Click OK. 7. While your set is highlighted, browse for your fonts using the pull-down menu in the upper right corner of the window. 8. Highlight all the fonts you want to select by Shift-clicking and then click the Add button.

6. A dialog box appears asking you to name the new set. Be sure to activate the set at this point by placing a checkmark next to Activate New Set. Click OK.

Kinkos provides a wide variety of fonts for your use. Please check with a Kinkos team member if the font you wish to use is not available. You may also use your own fonts by temporarily copying them to the computer you are renting. See the instructions below.

To Start Scanning Text:


1. Place the rst page of text to be scanned face down in the upper right-hand corner of the scanner, as straight as possible. (The page should be ush against the edge of the scanner.) 2. Click the Start button in the lower left corner of the screen, and then click OmniPage Pro 10. 3. Click the OCR Wizard button, and then click Wizard. Follow the instructions on screen. 4. Once the page has been scanned, you will be prompted to Pause, Scan Now, or Stop Scanning. If you have more pages, replace the scanned image with the new one to be scanned and click Scan Now. 5. When you are nished, click Stop Scanning. Once the page has been recognized, you will be prompted to correct any discrepancies using the OCR Proofreader. 6. Choose the word processing application that you prefer to import your text into by selecting from the Save as type drop-down list (default is Microsoft Word 2000). 7. Save your le to the My Documents folder on the desktop. 8. Copy le(s) to your disk. Optical Character Recognition scanning can be as much as 99% accurate, depending on the quality of your originals. Please note that text scanning does not always retain formatting, so additional formatting may be required. When saving les to be used on a Windows operating system older than Windows 95, please name them according to the standard 8.3 naming convention. Scanning Text

When saving les to be used on a Windows operating system older than Windows 95, please name them according to the standard 8.3 naming convention. Any eight letters or numbers followed by a period and a three-letter extension. For example, a Microsoft Word document could be named: myexampl.doc. Optical Character Recognition scanning can be as much as 99% accurate, depending on the quality of your originals. Please note that text scanning does not always retain formatting, so additional formatting may be required.

Probable examples of professional photographs include the following: Those depicting a standard copyright notice (such as, 2001 Kinkos Inc.) Those displaying a Do Not Copy notice Photographs with a studio backdrop, background such as mock scenery or an individual posed Headshots or photographs from a models portfolio or an actors bio sheet School events (such as, yearbook, prom, graduation, club/group or similar) Wedding pictures by a professional photographer Celebrity photographs (unless it is obvious that the photograph is an amateur photograph) Sport team or athlete photographs by a professional photographer Historic or famous monuments or events (such as, the Lone Cypress at Pebble Beach, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Kennedy assassination, the World Trade Center tragedy) Photographs that appear professional due to style or media (such as, glossy prints, canvas, etc.) If your photograph contains any of the above characteristics and you are not the person who took the photograph, Kinkos will not reproduce or allow you to use our equipment to reproduce it, unless you can provide written permission from the photographer or studio that took the photograph.

Click the Start button, and then click once on the Adobe Photoshop application. 3. Under the File menu select Import, and then select Epson TWAIN or HP ScanJet. Click Preview Scan if HP ScanJet is selected. 4. Crop the Image Move the solid line around the image by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the cursor over the image. Enclose the area that you want to scan. Do not cut anything off, but crop unnecessary areas out, to reduce le size. 5. Select Path (resolution) Images intended for printing should be scanned at twice the resolution of the halftone screen of your printer. Most ofce printers do not require resolutions greater than 170 dpi. The following table lists some sample resolutions. 5. Select Path (resolution) Images intended for printing should be scanned at twice the resolution of the halftone screen of your printer. Most ofce printers do not require resolutions greater than 170 dpi. The following table lists some sample resolutions. Contact a Kinkos team member for specic recommendations for the scanner you are using.

6. Select Graphic Type Todays scanners provide numerous options for customizing your scan. The following general options work well, but contact a co-worker for specic recommendations for your scanning needs. 9. 8. Select Graphic File Format and Name File For the internet/web use JPEG or GIF images. Note that GIF images must be converted to Indexed Color from the Image menu in Photoshop.

Printing Tips

How to Select the Printer You Want to Use:


1. From the application you are working in, go to the File menu and select Print. 2. Use the drop-down menu next to the currently selected printer to view the available printers. Choose the printer you want to use. 3. Click the Properties button next to the chosen printer and ensure your document is set to print to the correct paper size and orientation. Click OK. 4. Click OK again from the main Print window. 5. If you are unsure which printer to select, please see a Kinkos team member. Selecting the Number of Prints You can select the number of prints you wish to make from the application in which you are working. Typically, you can set the number of prints by selecting Print from the File menu, and then entering in the appropriate number from the Copies section Be sure to proof your print before specifying additional copies. Printing on 11 x 17 Paper 11 x 17 paper is also called Tabloid or Ledger. Set the paper option under properties to 11 x 17, Tabloid, or Ledger. All of our black and white printers that support this size paper should have 11 x 17 paper already loaded. If your document is set to print on 11 x 17 paper, just click OK to print. Printing on 11 x 17 Paper 11 x 17 paper is also called Tabloid or Ledger. Set the paper option under properties to 11 x 17, Tabloid, or Ledger.

Typically, you can set the number of prints by selecting Print from the File menu, and then entering in the appropriate number from the Copies section Be sure to proof your print before specifying additional copies.

Please remove extra carriage returns at the end of your document to avoid printing blank sheets. All of our black and white printers that support this size paper should have 11 x 17 paper already loaded. If your document is set to print on 11 x 17 paper, just click OK to print.
