Campus Life
UC San Diego is a public institution that lies alongside the Pacific Ocean in the La Jolla community of San Diego. The UCSD Tritons compete in 23 NCAA Division II sports, mainly in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The school has more than 400 student clubs and organizations, and many students are active in Greek life on campus. All freshmen are guaranteed on-campus housing but are not required to live on campus. The campus has an aquarium, public museum and the Large High Performance Outdoor Shake Table, which is one of the largest facilities in the country that tests structures ability to withstand simulated earthquakes.

Scholarship Requirement (GPA you must earn) - California residents : You must earn a GPA of 3.0 or better with no grade lower than C. - Non-California residents : You must earn a GPA of 3.4 or better with no grade lower than C.
(*GPA is based on courses taken during 10th and 11th grades)
Examination Requirement (test you must take) - You must submit scores from either : ACT Plus Writing OR / SAT Reasoning Test with critical reading, math and writing / 2 SAT Subject Tests closely related to your major(Recommended for engineering, biological or physical sciences major)
(*All musts must be taken by December of the senior year. Only your highest scores from a single sitting will be considered)

UCSDs college system is unique in the UC system were proud of that, and we think you will be, too. Every undergraduate at UCSD belongs to one of its six colleges. Each college has its own distinctive educational philosophy and programmatic theme, general education requirements, neighborhood within the campus.
You will take only your colleges core courses and writing program courses with students from your home college.
Landmarks
The Geisel Library is the central library building at UC San Diego. Geisel named for Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and featured in UCSDs logo.
The 2010 film Inception has a snow fortress that is very similar in structure to Geisel.
