The Blueprint Teen Summit 2013

Blueprint: an original plan or prototype that influences subsequent design or practice Chicago is in a state of emergency and no one can get us out except for those who live it daily. It is our job to take back our children and our communities. I am committed to making that change. I am proposing to host The Blueprint Teen Summit 2013 an event that will help change the future of Chicago!s youth from the inside out. The purpose of the event is to host a Teen "ummit that is designed to bring a large number of teenagers together at one time to give them a platform to express themselves and ask questions that often go unanswered. In return we will get input and feedback about stopping the violence and how to better youth programming in Chicago. This event will introduce the concept of an advisory board with detailed description of responsibilities time commitment roles and application. Through this platform we will jumpstart the community #evive Chicago awareness campaign. "aturday $ovember %& %'(& is the proposed date for the first annual Blueprint Teen Summit a free event that will give teens (&)(* the opportunity to use creative expression learn from others and strategi+e about their future,The Blueprint. There will be a t)shirt design contest for the teen with the best artistic idea of the -lueprint Teen "ummit the winner will have his.her design printed on the %'(& t) shirts and given a sponsored pri+e. The summit will be conducted in % phases for hour to hour operations.

/hase ( #egistered participants will go through check)in to receive their wristbands for the summit. 0nce they have been given their wristband they will be directed into the auditorium where they will be able to enjoy music and have a chance to visit vendor tables. They vendor tables will include retail college admissions and intern.employment information. This will allow the participant!s time to mix and mingle as well as look over their schedule for the day events. 0nce everyone is seated the 1C will welcome everyone and introduce the event host to the participants and parents. 2fter hearing from the host the participants will be directed to their breakout sessions led by advocates who have the passion to help re)direct the thoughts actions and energy of the participating youth. 3ach teen should have to scheduled sessions once both sessions have been completed the entire summit will seat for a sponsored lunch concluding phase (. /hase % Immediately after lunch the 1C will call to order the second half of the summit. The winner of the t)shirt design contest will be announced and rewarded for their artistic creations among their peers. This will take us into the spoken word and dance performances both led and created by teens. 4ere the potential special guest speakers: 1ichael "cott 5r. 2yesha 5aco 6a"hawn 7. 8ord 0wens 5. "helby and the parents of 4adiya /endleton will be introduced. 2fter the introduction of the speakers a short documentary titled 9Chi)raq: will be shown to all in attendance this then opens the floor for our panel question and answer discussion. The proposed panel guest can offer answers and insight to the youth who feel otherwise ignored. 4ere we as adults will have the opportunity to be a listening ear to the voices that are being drowned out by the violence in our city.
