Immediate Needs : . Secure bicycles for the girls to be able to come to the school easily . School uniform and stationary for the students . Teachers and Staff Salary Support . Fencing of school ground . Bike Shelter and Tea Shed Bicycles for the Girls: To help increase access to school and
regular attendance
As the classes at the Girls College Starts early morning at 6:30 am, its quite a challenge for most of the girls to get to the college in time for class. They have to rely on their family members to lend them their bikes or help to bring them to the school. Because of this challenge many girls have to miss the classes and cant attend the school on time. Since we dont have a school bus or any alternative transportation system, providing a paddle bike will greatly help the girls and will help them to get to school on their own and be independent. This will also improve the school attendance.

Sample picture from a similar project in India

Donating a bike for a girl to commute to school is a wonderful motivating gift. The status of their own bicycle in Nepal can make a life changing difference to a young girl. Providing the girls a

bike will provide an opportunity for the girls whose families would otherwise be reluctant to allow walking these distances for safety reasons. A bike is especially helpful for girls of families who can barely spare the money for education, let alone transport. In other places where this type of program exists, the bike is the girl childs proudest possession and has given her the courage to dream of even greater things.

Next Steps for the Growth of the College:

What are we thinking for the Next year? : (Under development)

. Add new classrooms (upper oor on the existing building) to offer new
classes from grade 6 to 12 from next year
One of the critical experience that we had this year was extremely low percentage of girls in the lumbini region who managed to pass grade 10th (S.L.C.) exam to be eligible to join our girls college. Though we are proud that almost all the girls who passed the S.L.C. exam were able to join our college. But however it is quite a small number of students. So instead of devoting all our full faculty of staff and manpower just to educate only 27 students, we are hoping to utilize the same team to educate hundreds others. Under the given educational laws of government in Nepal it is difcult to get permission to run from grade 9 and 10. (For this year who have partnered with another college for afliation). So after lots of experience and rethinking, now we are thinking ahead about the possibility of expanding our original vision to open classes from grade 6 all the way up to grade 12th. We can almost run the whole program with just few more additional teachers thus instead of just educating only few, we can expand and offer the opportunity of education to hundreds and hundreds of girls from the local area. Another point of view is that doing this will also help the school to progress faster to become independent and self nancing in future. But for this, we need at least 8 more classrooms (it will be much cheaper to build them on top of the building, thanks to the stronger foundation). And we also need to secure a school bus to help bring the girls to school from the villages that are located off the limit for walking or cycling distances. So this is something that we need to think about and plan together.
