About the AMLS Committee

Jeff J. Messerole, EMT-P, Committee Chair


Jeff is currently the clinical Instructor and AHA Training Center coordinator at Spencer Hospital in Northwest Iowa. Jeff brings 32 years of experience as an Army Medic, EMTBasic, EMT-Intermediate, and Paramedic. Professional memberships include ACLS PROAD and ACLS Science Committee member; BLS/ACLS/PALS Regional Faculty; PHTLS/AMLS Afliate Faculty, AMLS Committee and Contributing Author to the AMLS text book; A BLS/ ACLS/PALS/PEARS, PHTLS/AMLS, ADLS, TBI, PEPP, NIMS, Hazmat, and WMD/Terrorism instructor. Jeff serves on the following committees or groups Past President of the Iowa EMS Association and Chair of Iowas EMSAC; AHA ECC Chair, ATF and AHA STEMI Task Force; Iowas Quality Assurance Standards and Protocol committee; the Governors Rural Health and Primary Care Advisory Committee; and an active member in NAEMT and IEMSA. Jeff serves on the following teams NW Iowas CISD and DMAT. Jeff is adjunct faculty for several community colleges and a reviewer and contributor to several publishing companies.

Les R. Becker, Ph.D., NREMT-P., Committee Vice Chair


Dr. Becker is a freelance EMS educator serving as adjunct faculty in training programs in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. An active EMS provider since the early 1980s, Dr. Beckers tenure includes service with the Baltimore City Fire Department and the Prince Georges County (MD) Fire/EMS Department (PGFD), having retired from the PGFD in 2005. He continues to date as a volunteer ALS provider in Calvert County, MD. In 1998, Dr. Becker completed his Ph.D. in Evaluation and Analytical Techniques at the University of Maryland Baltimore Graduate School. Dr. Becker has worked in the injury prevention and substance abuse elds and is the lead author of a cornerstone publication addressing EMS provider ambulance transport injuries and deaths.

Vincent N. Mosesso, Jr., M.D., Medical Director


Dr. Mosesso has been the AMLS Medical Director since 2011. He is professor of emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and medical director of Prehospital Care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He serves as associate medical director of Pittsburgh EMS, director of the prehospital care rotation of the UPMC Emergency Medicine Residency, and as an emergency airway physician for the National Football League. Dr. Mosesso is the co-founder and Medical Director of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, and served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of EMS Physicians during 2002-2004. Dr. Mosessos research has focused on prehospital care and sudden cardiac arrest, including the use of automated external debrillators. He has published numerous scientic manuscripts and textbook chapters, and serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for the journals Resuscitation and Prehospital Emergency Care.

Angus Jameson, M.D., Associate Medical Director


Dr. Jameson completed his undergraduate work in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at New College of Florida in Sarasota in 2001. He earned a Masters in Public Health with concentrations in Epidemiology and Health Policy and Management at SUNY Albany and subsequently attended the Albany Medical College. He completed his residency training at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, and then went on to the Fellowship in EMS at FDNY. Dr. Jameson currently practices with the North Shore/Long Island Jewish health system and continues his involvement with EMS as an On-Line Medical Control Physician for FDNY, team physician for the FDNY Special Operations Command Urban Search and Rescue Task Force, and Associate Medical Director for the NAEMT AMLS program. He also frequently lectures to pre-hospital providers. Dr. Jameson has experience as an EMS provider in Florida, North Carolina, New York, and Pennsylvania in both ground and helicopter based services.

Linda M. Abrahamson, BA, RN, ECRN, Paramedic, NCEE, Committee Member


Linda is the Paramedic Program Director and EMS Education Coordinator for Advocate Christ Medical Center, Level I Trauma Center, in Oak Lawn, Illinois. She currently manages a paramedic education program for the hospital and Moraine Valley Community College. She has over 30 years of service as an educator, ight and ground paramedic and emergency room nurse. She has served many local, state and national leadership roles in EMS organizations. She is the past president of the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) and past AMLS chairperson and executive board member for the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT). In addition to continued service as an AMLS Committee Member, she is also the President of the National Certication of EMS Educators Board of Directors (NEMSEC).

Ann Bellows, RN, EMT-P, Ed. D., Committee Member


Ann has worked with prehospital education for over 20 years. She has experience in ICUs and ERs in small rural hospitals and Level I trauma centers, and with Fixed Wing and Rotor Wing transport, and rural volunteer systems. She has been involved with the National EMT Association on many levels and has worked with the PHTLS and AMLS committees. She has her doctorate in Training and Learning Technologies and a minor in Message Design. She has a special interest in EMS education and developing new instructors and exchanging ideas with those who are more experienced.
