Notes
Katy was born on October 25, 1984 in the city of Santa Barbara in California. She was born into a home of Christian Ministers. So during her childhood she was very involved in the Christian community. Her parents had very strict Christian standards. They were only aloud to listen to or watch things that revolved around their religion. Her parents did in some way help her to start her career.

Notes
. Her parents let her start taking singing lessons and would travel to Nashville where her parents knew people in the Christian Recording Industry. This was the very small start for Katy. When Katy was 16 she released a Christian album, which she released under her real name Katy Hudson, she sold about 100 copies of this album until the recording industry she was going through went bankrupt. During her teenage years, her parent set up Christian gigs for her at local church events and restaurants. Her parents band Katy from listening to any other music besides gospel music

Notes
She did follow her parents rules of only listening to Christian music until one day she was with friends and heard the voice of Freddie Mercury. After hearing his voice she was open to the possibility of singing other genres of music. But this choice did not show up until later. When she was only 16 years old she moved from her hometown in Santa Barbara to Nashville so she could work with record companies so she could get her music out there.

Notes
When Katy was 17 her life changed for the better and she started getting recognized. This is the year she met Glen Ballard. He mentored her and inspired her to become part of who she is today. He has helped out a couple of singers before, who became big as well. He was responsible for the Magazine Blender stating that Katy was becoming The Next Big Thing. While Glen was mentoring her, the recording company Capitol Music Executive heard and later signed her in 2007. Now that she was in this crowd of music and all the different genres the company signed, she had a better chance of being heard.

Notes
This is when her music changed from being Christian oriented to being whatever she wanted to sing about. In late 2007 she offered a free download of her song Ur so Gay, and it was an instant hit. Everyone loved it and this was the official start of her career. She then released her song I Kissed a Girl, which was even better then her first song. This song became her first single. This song was used in a popular T.V. show that made it climb from being 100 favorite hit to being number 2. This was huge for Katys career!

Notes
2009 Katy earned a Grammy nomination for best female pop vocal performance for I Kissed a Girl, this was huge for a music artist just starting out in the music business. She also announced her first headline tour in 2009 called Hello Katy. This tour was meant to introduce Katys music to the world. Katy has a unique style of preforming her music. On this tour she used inflatable fruit and a huge kitty head to go along with her on the stage. She uses unique things like this in all her tours. In a sense it is what makes her stand out from the rest.

Notes
Katy started opening for famous singers like Mika and The Starting Line. While she was pursuing her dream of becoming a singer, she met Travis McCoy, a singer from Gym Class Heroes. They started dating and played a couple in a music video. They became very serious and were going to get married but then later broke up.

Notes
. In 2010, Katy met a British Comedian and they fell in love. They ended up having a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony. In the same year she released her album teenage dream. This album had several hits on it, and is her most famous album thus far. These hits are California Girls, E.T., The One that Got Away, Firework, and Teenage Dream. This Album is the second in history to have 5 number one hits in just one album. Katys career was on fire!

Notes
In 2011, on top of her life of being a talented and loved singer, she played the voice of Smurfette in the movie The Smurfs. This movie was a hit and made half a billion dollars. She returned two years later in The Smurfs Two. This year was a crazy year for Katys Career. She was on her world tour and her marriage was failing. In the middle of her world tour, after being married for 14 months, her husband filed for divorce. This was devastating to Katy. She almost had to take a day off her tour, letting down Spain. She toughed it out and went on stage, shedding a few tears here and there but her fans supported her and pushed her forward by chanting We love you Katy! This was the push that Katy needed to continue her tour. Even though her love wanted a divorce, her fans would always be there for her. Her tour did not end until January of 2012.

Notes
After her tour she was nominated for five different awards! She won three of her five nominations; these awards were Choice Music award, Teen Choice Awards and Favorite Tour Headliner. Not only did she travel the world and preform, but all her performances were filmed in 3D for her movie that later came out called Katy Perry: Part of Me. This movie showed her strengths, love, and devotion to her music, and it showed how hard the divorce was on her. This movie was a great success and made her fans love her even more.

Notes
After her tour, Katys career went from hectic to slow paced. She was no longer touring or preforming but working on her new music. She has already released a sneak peak of three of the songs that are going to be on her new album Prism. She announced in early September 2013 that she would be releasing this album on October 22, 2013! Her song Roar, that is going to be on this album, is already a huge hit among the pop genre. This album is meant to explore the dark side of Katy and has been said to be a completely different side of Katy. She is starting up her Hectic career again traveling to different countries to preform a teaser of Roar for her new album. It is anticipated that this album will be just as big as her other ones and hopefully encourage her to take another tour to preform her new songs for the world. Katy Perry is a very talented pop Artist who has earned where she is today. She did not get it handed to her. She worked hard for it and the world recognizes that and cant wait to hear more from her.

Peacock (3:52 Minutes) This song was written by: Katy Perry, Mikkel S. Eriksen, and Ester Dean and Produced by Stargate.
