United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Measures to reduce under-five mortality rate by two thirds People's Republic of China

Peoples Republic of China is concerned about the childhood mortality not only on its territory but also in other countries such as Afghanistan, Niger, Mali, Somalia, Central African Republic and so forth. Before the early 1950s, the rate reached about 300 per 1,000 thousand in China. Before the early 1950s, Chinas infant mortality rate reached about 300 per 1,000 whilst nowadays it has fallen to about 33 per 1,000 and is expected to continue decreasing in the future. However ,in some large cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai, the infant mortality rate has dropped to 5.05 per 1,000, a rate mirrored in some of the most medically advanced countries. The target is to reduce child mortality by two-thirds, meaning from 93 children of every 1,000 dying before age five in 1990 to 31 of every 1,000 in 2015. China is deeply regretting that approximate / round about 29,000 children under the age of five die every day, mainly from preventable causes. More than 70 per cent of almost 11 million child deaths every year are attributable to six causes: diarrhoea, malaria, neonatal infection, pneumonia, preterm delivery, or lack of oxygen at birth. Unfortunately, malnutrition and the lack of safe water and sanitation contribute to half of all these childrens deaths. In China, the majority of infant deaths are related to difficult labor, pneumonia, and nutrition deficiency diseases. China offers programs which helps families learn essential skills and basic health knowledge, particularly in the care of newborns. This includes best practices in breastfeeding and complementary feeding, hygiene and safe faeces disposal. .
