Respect Life
The terrible miscalculation of young women is that abortion can make them unpregnant, that it will restore them to who they were before their crisis. But a woman is never the same once she is pregnant, whether the child is kept, adopted, or killed. Abortion may be a kind of resolution, but it is not the one the woman most deeply longs for, nor will it even preserve her sense of self."

Dear Parishioners of St. Francis Borgia,

I would like to share with you some thoughts and desires as we approach November 11. It is a beautiful day because of a couple of reasons. First of all, it is the Feast of St. Martin of Tours who is a patron of soldiers. Second of all, it is Veterans Day. We do realize there is a lot of history and a long tradition connected with this day. St. Martin of Tours was born of pagan parents. His father was a veteran. At the age of 15 Martin was forced to serve the Army against his will. After three years of service in the Military Martin became a Christian and was baptized. There is a legend about St. Martin. Martin met a poor man, almost naked, trembling in the cold. He had nothing but his weapons and his clothes. He drew his sword, cut his cloak into two pieces, gave one to the beggar and wrapped himself in the other half. Some of the people who saw this laughed at his now odd appearance, others were ashamed at not having relieved the mans misery. That night in his sleep Martin saw Christ dressed in the half of the garment he had given away, and heard him say: Martin, still a catechumen, has covered me with this garment. On Veterans Day we pray in a special way for those who have served our country. We remember these brave men and women who have given their lives in defense of our nation. We thank them for the wondrous way they have worked in our country, guiding our leaders, both past and present, with their strong hand. We thank them for generations of military members who have worked for our freedom. We pray for those who have served faithfully, giving of their energy, their passion and for some, their very lives. We pray for the loved ones of our deceased veterans, asking them to comfort each one. We pray that their dedication and sacrifice will inspire our troops today as they serve. May their faithful service cause each of us to rise up in gratitude for all they have done in our nation and our world. I also have great appreciation for that day because on November 11, I came to this world. I dont believe that there is a coincidence. My interest in military service goes back to my High School Seminary in Poland. At age 17 I felt that strong desire to be a military chaplain, so I took a trip to Warsaw to find out what the requirements were to become a military chaplain. I also approached my pastor of my home parish (who was a World War II Veteran who fought at Monte Cassino) seeking his advice. My pastor in a very loving, tender and fatherly way based on his experience advised me to continue my studies at regular seminary to serve God and his people as a parish priest first. So, here I am, at St. Francis Borgia Parish, a priest in the city of Chicago. I'm happy and I know that it has been God's plan for me to be here but that desire to be a military chaplain never died. It became stronger. I still feel that call in my heart and I would like to pursue it. I shared my feelings, emotions and desires with Fr. Rich, my spiritual director, and Most Reverend Francis Cardinal George. I'm aware of the fact, that there is a shortage of catholic chaplains. I hope and pray that God is calling me to serve our soldiers, who sacrifice their lives to serve our country. I am in contact with The Archdiocese for the Military Services and the US Army. It is a long and very complex process in order to become a military chaplain. I will share with you more details when the process progresses. Dear Brothers and Sisters, You are my parish family and I'm asking for Your prayers. I'm going through this very lengthy, detailed and complicated screening process, interviews, medical and physical tests. I place my hopes, my desires and my future in God's hands. Let it be His will. Thank You and may God bless You. Fr. Marcin Bulinski

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry, Parafianie St.Francis

Borgia, 11 Listopada tradycyjnie juz od wielu lat czcimy pamiec i oddajemy hold tym, ktorzy walczyli i oddali zycie "za wolnosc nasza i wasza" abysmy my mogli zyc. Dzien Weterana, a w Polsce Swieto Niepodleglosci. W tym dniu modlimy sie i pamietamy o tych, ktorzy odeszli jak rowniez o tych, ktorzy dzisiaj narazaja swoje zycie na swiatowych frontach strzegac idealow wolnosci. W kalendarzu liturgicznym 11 Listopada czcimy rowniez Sw. Marcina, ktory jest patronem zolnierzy-Jego ojciec byl weteranem. Sw. Marcin pochodzil z poganskiej rodziny.W wieku 15 lat zostal zmuszony do sluzby wojskowej, a po 3 latach przyjal chrzest i zostal wiernym sluga Chrystusa. Legenda glosi, ze pewnego razu spotkal prawie nagiego trzesacego sie z zimna zebraka i chcac mu pomoc wyjal szable, przecial swoje ubranie na polowe, okryl biedaka, a druga polowa przykryl siebie.W nocy przysnil Mu sie Pan Jezus okryty polowa Jego sukmany ( bylem nagi, przyodzieliscie mnie-slyszelismy to wiele razy) Sw. Jestem ksiedzem parafialnym w Chicago. Jestem szczesliwy, staram sie jak najlepiej wypelniac moje kaplanskie powolanie i dziekuje Bogu za kazdy dzien. Jednak to wewnetrzne pragnienie, aby sluzyc naszym zolnierzom, ktorzy poswiecaja swoja mlodosc i zycie sluzac nam, nigdy we mnie nie wygaslo. Za zgoda i pozwoleniem Kardynala zlozylem aplikacje do Archdiocese for Military Services and US Army i rozpoczalem proces jako kandydat na kapelana wojskowego. Skladam moja nadzieje, moje pragnienia i moja przyszlosc w rece Boga Wszechmogacego, a Was Bracia i Siostry, ktorzy jestescie moja parafialna rodzina goraco prosze o modlitwe w mojej intencji. Dziekuje bardzo. Niech Wam Bog blogoslawi. Szczesc Boze. Ks. Marcin Bulinski

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, When we started the To Teach Who Christ Is Campaign several weeks ago I was wondering if this campaign will effect our regular offerings in any way, especially that as you know, we are not meeting our weekly budget almost every weekend. Last weekend proved that it is possible for us to reach our weekly budget even though we are doing the campaign. Last weekends collection was over $11,000. I want to thank you for your generosity. We thank those who already made their commitments to our Campaign and we remind you that you can wait for the reminders to come in the mail making your irst payments following the instructions given by the Archdiocese. After you receive the instructions in the mail, payments will be mailed to the Archdiocese as they hold our parishs account for the Campaign and they will send us report updates systematically. The money collected will be released by the Archdiocese to fund the projects mentioned in the Campaign case. The success of our Campaign depends on the participation of us all. So far we received 570 pledges. Yours in Christ,

To Teach Who Christ Is Campaign
