Personnel: We continue to work with a vacant administrative secretary position. Brian and I have taken some steps to get some part-time temporary help beginning next week. Detectives: At the request of Esko School, K-9 Officer Holman and Raja searched their building for illegal contraband. They also assisted the Boundary Waters Drug Task Force with a traffic stop that recovered 3.5 grams of methamphetamine. We continue to have several reported burglaries in and around the city. Detectives are working on a few leads with St. Louis County Sheriffs Office. Patrol: Late Friday, right at shift change, there was a report of two uncooperative shoplifters at Wal-Mart. As squads responded we were updated that the two had taken off on bicycles from the property. Sgt. Benko and Sgt. Palmer located the two individuals by McDonald Rental. The male suspect gave up as soon as he was located. The female suspect did not stop, despite commands, and pedaled away as Sgt. Palmer chased her on foot. Officer Beckman and Sgt. Benko located her by Taco John's and quickly took her into custody. Shortly after we cleared from the jail, WalMart called to report they had two other shoplifters in custody. Corporal Hallback and

Officer Martin responded. The suspects were cited for theft and the female was taken into custody on an outstanding Carlton County Warrant. Sgt. Palmer and Officer Reed responded to a report of an overdose on 10th Street. The adult victim was found lying in the bathtub, not breathing, and unresponsive. Fire District staff administered a dose of Narcan and the victim started breathing and came to. No contraband was found, but the complainant believed that she was using heroin. Soon after clearing the previous call, there was a report of a fight between two females at 805 18th St. Apparently it was a verbal argument over dogs being on the property and it quickly escalated. Both parties were yelling and shoving each other. Ultimately, punches were thrown causing a gash to one of the combatants forehead. Statements and photos taken were collected and one adult female was taken into custody for 5th Degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct. During this same time a report of a domestic assault taking place at 634 Laurel Street was received. The investigation revealed probable cause to arrest the adult male for 5th Degree Domestic Assault. That same night, officers were in the process of assisting Pine County and Carlton County looking for a man believed to be suicidal. The cell phone company located the cell phone in the vicinity of Reponen Road and Strand Road. As we were waiting for a second ping, we were requested to 1571 Whispering Pines Drive for a report of a male

threatening his cousin with a knife. Once at Whispering Pines Drive, we separated all parties and ultimately arrested and adult male for 2nd Degree Assault. During the interview with the witness, it was learned that over the course of the last week, the suspect has been touching a juvenile female. A request for additional charges has been requested by the Carlton County Attorney's Office. Miscellaneous: On Friday staff meet with Dwight Cadwell of Northland Sports Online. We are working to create a link from his webpage to the Departments social media webpage. Staff is also working on including officer bios that will be loaded on the site. Staff attended a number of meetings including but not limited to Carlton County Tirade, Carlton County Criminal Justice meeting, Gang Task Force meeting and the City Council meeting. Officers provided a police escort for the statebound Cloquet High School Football Team as they left town for their game in St. Cloud.
