Eurochestries Festivals in few words...

The Eurochestries festivals welcome symphonic (or string) orchestras, choirs and music chamber ensembles, with young musicians (from 15th to 25th years old) of high level coming from different countries from the whole world. These festivals carry values of meetings between the young people of the various countries, the touristic and linguistic discovery, and naturally the musical exchanges between the musicians, but also the public. The music intensity is based on the young talents, soloists and conductors. During each festival, the musicians of the participating orchestras play in concerts with their own programme, but also work together mixing nationalities to prepare the closing concert. This originality allows the Eurochestries rich moments for music, human and cultural exchanges for the young musicians. The concerts of the Eurochestries festivals bring the classical music into the heart of the rural towns They thus go to meet populations who are less disposed to have access to the cultural offers of quality: the concerts correspond to the principle of local diffusion while participating to the cultural life of the territories. The festivals also allow the creation of music works ordered to composers and allow meetings of conductors.

The first Eurochestries festival was born in Charente in 1989, on Mr Marcel Corneloups

Located in Charente until 1998, the Eurochestries, saw their revival in CharenteMaritime in 1999 under Claude Revoltes presidence, after a year of restructuration, according to the General councils wish. Since the first festival, the Eurochestries concept spread out and other festivals were created in Europe and outside Europe.
