LIGHTED BOTTLES The lighted bottle system serves as a visual representation of all the information the ipad application contains. It visualizes how much water actually each ingredient in our meal needs in order to be produced. Each bottles represents a liter of bottled water. The application, on the screen, shows the numbers of the water footprint breakdown for each ingredient once the user place the order on the menu. Computed number of bottles light up once the application signals and sends message to the light installation system. Different color represents the different ingredient of each meal.

VIRTUAL WATER
Is the amount of water that is used to produce that product, the whole production history of the product. It is the way of capturing the invisible water being used, in order to become aware of the water resources.

We should always observe what we eat and how we produce what we eat if we want to have an impact. The future of water is in the hands us the Consumers - our food choices tells the industry determine how much water is diverted to the food production, our diet, our food preferences, amount of meat into our diet our tendencies to waste food, this have massive impact on our pressure report to our water resources, we hold the key to water security, we are influential.

a cow consumes

1300 kg of grains

a cow also consumes

7200 kg of roughages

a cow also drinks

during the whole three years.

24 000 litres of water

and at last,

7000 litres of water for servicing the farm house and for slaughtering purposes.

AMOUNT OF WATER HIDDEN IN OUR STEAK

In an Industrial farming beef system, it takes 3 years to grow a cow before its ready for the market. Lets see how much water the farmers actually use till the end of 3 years to provide beef for our plates.

3 060 000 L 24 000 L 7 000 L total:

to produce all the grains and roughages

for the cows 3 years drinking water

for farmhouse and slaughtering purposes

3 091000 L
And so that means:

to produce 200 kilos of boneless beef

WATER FOOTPRINT METER FOR MEAT PRODUCTION

15 400 L for a kilo of beef

97.5% salty water 2.5% Freshwater .1% accesible for use 70% of the worlds surface is covered with water and 30% is land, but most of it 97.5% (salty) has very limited use to us. Of the remaining 2.5% (freshwater), but only a small fraction - 0.1% is actually sufficient quality to be used by the worlds plants and animals.

Globally since 1950, the population has grown exponentially by four billion people in six decades. We know that the population technically knows no limits, but water most certainly does. The water we have before when the world was first created is the same as the water we have until today. It has a fixed amount but moves and constantly cycles, It is renewable but limited. The increase in population means there will be less water for each in the near future.

The concept of Virtual Water directly aims to make the people aware of their water footprint. Making invisible water consumption, Visible to the community.
