PURPOSE

Present workflow for the advanced well completion design with integration of QuikLook and NETool applications to quantify benefits and allow a study over time (transient analysis) in the wellbore depending of the well completion type, to validate, standardize and strengthen the processes of work teams and integral methodologies used in projects associated with well productivity in the PSL Halliburton Consulting.

SCOPE

Develop an official document about workflow to advanced well completion design with integration of QuikLook and NETool applications, considering the quantification of benefits in terms of cumulative fluids production and allow a study over time (transient analysis) in the wellbore depending of the well completion type, to quickly familiarize staff and approve as make use of these applications. Moreover, it will release the workflow approved national and placed the document in the portal to using in the Halliburton PSL Consulting projects.
APPLICATIONS

The development of this workflow enabled by the integration of QuikLook and NETool and applications can be used to: 1. Optimizing the design of well type and completion design to maximize customers NPV. 2. Evaluate the well type and completion efficiency in terms of cumulative fluids production over time. 3. Predicting the effect of the well completion and future behavior of fluids result of the settings applied to reservoir and/or complex wells.

4. Reduce the financial and operational risk by the use of improved candidate selection. 5. Achieving a better understanding of the mechanisms of the reservoir. 6. Reducing the cycle time of decision. 7. To investigate the optimal placement of the packer or isolating the annular areas over time.
NETool simulation program

Is a steady-state simulator, based on networks of nodes defined for rapidly calculating the multiphase fluid flow through the completion of a oil well, and in the region near the oil well bore. The completion of the oil well and the region near the hole are represented by a distribution of nodes that can be interconnected by flow channels. The definition of the details of termination leads to a suitable pressure drop correlation for each flow channel, either for forming the annular pattern or a series termination. The effects of the oil well position, as oil well as the length and configuration of the termination at the production are easily modeled through an interactive oil well placement and easy selection of the components of the completion of a construction of correlations pressure drop. The effects of the use of multiple devices in oil well completion can be seen by placing the basic parameters of the oil well in the simulator and run different completion designs with various influence parameters such as cutting water permeability models damage, etc. The program quickly allows the running of numerous scenarios to compare the results and optimize completion.

QuikLook simulation program

It is a reservoir simulation tool that can be used to study the effects over time (transient analysis) of a completion in the reservoir. The QuikLook simulation program is exceptionally versatile and easy to run, with powerful visualization capabilities and output reports results using data imported into other simulators if necessary as the display TeraPro. The program can also predict the prediction of sand and geomechanical models. It was designed with the practice of engineering in mind, the program combines the power of a numerical reservoir simulator with a simple interface models capable of processing one million cells. It is a management tool for reservoir fluids having a superior graphical interface to incorporate complex oil well data, checks the consistency of the data, produces additional graphics, interactive graphics outputs, deploys and monitors the simulation runs analyzing the results. To implement the workflow shown raised rapid integration demonstration of NETool application to a reservoir simulator as is QuikLook. This integration exchanges pressures and flow rates for all

time steps for each of the cells intersected by the well trajectory, resulting in an well-integrated model fully dynamic.
Description Process:

To display the results in that well-integrated reservoir model, it must perform the following procedure described below in summary to get a better understanding of it: 1. Create a model in QuickLook of base case (for this example is the current completion in the study reservoir). 2. Create a model in QuikLook to NETool of base case. 3. Run simulation integrating QuikLook and NETool for the base case. 4. Save files and database results of caso base. 5. Create a model in QuikLook to NETool of the case with different devices than the base case or current completion. 6. Run simulation integrating QuikLook and NETool for the case with different devices to the base case or current completion. 7. Save files and database of obtain results of case with different devices to the base case or current completion. 8. Create a model in QuikLook for NETool of the case with optimized devices. 9. Run simulation integrating QuikLook and NETool for the case with optimized devices. 10. Save database of the output results of the case with optimized device. 11. Perform a data post process, compare and show results.

The integration we resume in integration the information, prototype model design, well type design, well completion option, scenarios evaluated, optimization best scenario, document, presentation and monitoring the execution. The next slide shows this integral solution:

CASE STUDY:

Client Situation: A National Oil Company Operation (NOC) with natural fractured reservoirs (NFR), mature fields and offshore production have dynamic models supported with static characterization, productivity models focus on wells and methodologies for continuous improvement in the design and construction of wells. Project Scope: To evaluate the efficiency and well completion type, by applying the QuikLook - NETool integrated workflow in order to select the best performance of the oil production and mitigate the production of undesirable fluids (water and / or gas). Solution Design: The integration makes it possible to investigate the long-term effects of the components of the completion in the reservoir performance and production, including the recovery factor, cumulative production and time of the water / gas breakthrough into the well.

Benefits: Manage complex well completions. Precisely simulate complex flow patterns in production borehole segments. Completion to adjust the properties found while drilling. Managing the impact of the production of a new well completion technology. Evaluation of fluid movement through time (transient analysis). Well design based on the output response. Understanding the behavior of well production and reservoir.
