The job of a Board Member is akin to running a business. The extent of a candidates business experience and professional skills may be of some guidance in choosing between candidates. Nominees are invited to provide some background information on this. PLEASE PRINT

Note to ABS Secretaries

All full members of the RA are entitled to seek election to the Board. Please ensure that ALL members are aware of this request for candidates for this election. Extra copies of this form may be requested from RA Head Office Please consult the Constitution of the RA if you have any queries. Your ABS and County RA Secretaries have a copy of this. It is your responsibility to ensure that your nomination paper is duly completed and sent to the RA Head Office at Unit 12, Ensign Business Centre, Westwood Business Park, COVENTRY CV4 8JA to arrive BEFORE 1st February 2014. Receipt will be acknowledged. The election process takes place in Spring 2014 and the result will be announced by 7 May. Failure to comply with the Rules of the RA or statements that prove to be false may disqualify your candidature. Incorrectly completed forms will be returned with a note of the deficiencies and an invitation to correct and resubmit it by 1 st February. All candidates will be required to sign a Fit and Proper Persons declaration and, upon election, to abide by the Boards Operational Codes of Practice. There will be a minimum of three places for election to the Board. Candidates are advised that membership of the Board can be onerous in terms of the personal time commitment. Attendance is expected at a minimum of 4 Board meetings and a minimum of 4 committee meetings (usually held on weekends) and at the AGM each year. It is an operational position with a considerable correspondence workload between meetings; ideally, a working knowledge of and facility for handling email with pdf attachments, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is essential. Current Board members will be happy to discuss the workload involved with you or the way the Board and its committees operate.
