Questions and Answers


In March 2012, several products in the infrastructure 2013 portfolio launched with changes and enhancements to the current offering. The changes include persona-based improvements, product consolidation, and modifications in product branding. This document answers questions specific to AutoCAD Map 3D.

General Product & Licensing Information


1. Is AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise still available with the new releases?
No, effective with this release (AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 software), AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise software is now part of the functionality of AutoCAD Map 3D. This new offering delivers all of the benefits of AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise, as well as all of the former Autodesk Topobase Client functionality, in a single offering.

2. Is there a separate price for functionality that was formerly available only as part of AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise and/or Autodesk Topobase Client?
No. Enterprise industry models and related tools for Oracle , formerly only available as part of AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise and/or Autodesk Topobase Client, are now available as standard features and functionality in AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 and comes with the standard AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 software license agreement.

3. Have AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise Subscription customers been notified of this license change?
Yes, current AutoCAD Map 3D and AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise Subscription customers have been notified of this change via a letter in the AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 product box and via an email to the Subscription contract holder.

4. What happens to my customers existing Map 3D Enterprise Subscription contract?


All AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise customers with active Subscription contracts will be migrated to AutoCAD Map 3D and will receive AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 as part of their Subscription fulfillment. When their AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise contract is up for renewal, they will be asked to renew AutoCAD Map 3D Subscription at the AutoCAD Map 3D Subscription price.

5. Until what date can a customer renew an inactive AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise Subscription to be part of the migration to AutoCAD Map 3D?
Map 3D Enterprise Subscription renewal orders will be accepted until July 31, 2012.

AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 Partner FAQ 6. What is the benefit of this packaging and licensing change for AutoCAD Map 3D and AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise customers?
The discontinuation of AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise simplifies the AutoCAD Map 3D offering. This change also provides greater flexibility to all AutoCAD Map 3D customers who want to utilize enterprise industry model functionality for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server .

7. Is all of the functionality that was formerly available as part of AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise available in the Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2013?
Yes, with this new consolidated offering, all of the functionality formerly available only with AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise is now available as part of the functionality of AutoCAD Map 3D product which is available in Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2013.

8. What is the key message for AutoCAD Map 3D 2013?


AutoCAD Map 3D software is a model-based infrastructure application that provides broad access to CAD and GIS data, helping GIS, planning, and engineering professionals create and edit data to make better-informed decisions. 9. Will there be a trial license for AutoCAD Map 3D 2013?

1. Can industry models available with AutoCAD Map 3D be stored in databases other than Oracle?
Yes, AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 industry models can be stored in DWG well as Microsoft SQL Server databases.

2. Is all of the AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 industry model functionality available with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013?
No, the industry model functionality available in AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 is not available in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 software. However, both AutoCAD Map 3D and AutoCAD Civil 3D are included in Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2013 (Standard, Premium and Ultimate editions for AutoCAD Map 3D, and Premium and Ultimate editions for AutoCAD Civil 3D). Customers wishing to use both AutoCAD Map 3D industry models as well as AutoCAD Civil 3D are encouraged to upgrade to Infrastructure Design Suite Premium or Ultimate edition.

3. Can AutoCAD Civil 3D open and read AutoCAD Map 3D industry models?
Yes, DWG-based industry models created in AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 can be opened and read in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013.

4. Is the Autodesk Labs project, called Project Parsec, available with this release?

Project Parsec, formerly released as a technology preview on Autodesk Labs, has been enhanced and is now a standard feature, known as Convert to Industry Model, of AutoCAD Map 3D 2013.

5. Can AutoCAD Map 3D be installed in a virtualized environment, like Citrix?


Yes, AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 can be installed on Citrix XenApp and is fully supported to run in this environment. Review the AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 system requirements online.

6. Will the same or updated FDO providers be available with AutoCAD Map 3D as in previous releases?
Yes, FDO providers included with AutoCAD Map 3D support the same data sources as previous releases of AutoCAD Map 3D. However, many of these providers have received updates and therefore they must not be mixed with earlier version products.

7. Is there a 64-bit version of the FDO Provider for ArcGIS?


No, as the API used for the FDO Provider for ArcGIS does not come in a 64-bit flavor, the current
