Islamic banking is o!ten related to the re$i$al o! Islam and the desire i! M%slims to li$e all as#ects o! their li$e in accordance ith the teachings o! Islam" In Malaysia, se#arate Islamic legislation and banking reg%lation e-ist side.by.side ith those !or the con$entional banking system" The legal basis !or the establishment o! Islamic banks as the Islamic /anking 0ct *I/0+ hich comes into e!!ect on 7 0#ril 1913" The I/0 #ro$ides /2M ith #o ers to s%#er$ise and reg%late Islamic banks, similar to the case o! other licensed banks" The Go$ernment In$estment 0ct 1913 as also enacted at the same time to em#o er the Go$ernment o!
