Gurusthan Trust
Gurusthan Trust is a small
trust with common
individuals for the cause of
common people. This trust
was founded by Mr. Manohar
G. Pitale from Vile Parle.
Mumbai India.
Background
The main trustee of this
Gurusthan Trust is Mr.
Manohar G. Pitale. Devotion
to Shri Sai Baba is in his
blood. It was his grand father
late Mr. Vishnupant Pitale
who was the first one from
Pitale family to see Shri Sai
Baba in person in 1916 in
Shirdi. After meeting Shri Sai
Baba, he realized that Baba
is not an ordinary person but
he is an incarnation of the
God. Shri Sai Baba tested the
strength and devotion of Mr.
V. Pitale by taking his money
which was mere Rs.15/- and
asked him to go back to
Mumbai empty handed.

did not lose heart and kept
going and he could reach

even the Ticket checker, who
met him in the train spoke to
him on different topics but
just did not ask him about the
ticket. That was nothing less
than a miracle. From that
time onwards his financial
and spiritual growth began.
It was his unflinching
devotion to Shri Sai Baba that
made him give all his money
without blinking his eyelid
and without a single doubt
and this selfless love and
faith for the Baba and His
noble teachings remained
with him throughout his life.
From that time onwards
Pitale family has been strong
followers of Shri Sai Baba.
It’s now the fifth generation
which is carry on the noble
work. Mr. Manohar Pitale
grew up with this devotion to
the Baba from the Childhood.
This coupled with his artistic
instincts made him get
interested in making the
beautiful small metal idols of
Shri Sai Baba which he
would sell at the basic
minimum price and would
spread the teachings of Baba
around.
Knowing about his skills,
once a person from a distant
place came to meet him and
asked him to make an idol of
Shri Sai Baba of two feet
height initially Mr. Manohar
Pitale was hesitant to accept
the order for the big idol but
he gave in to the persistent
demand of that person and
agreed to do it without
accepting any advance. After
continuous work and
dedication, Mr. Manohar
Pitale finally could make one
very gracious idol of Shri Sai
Baba as desired by that
person. But when Mr. Pitale
told that person about the
total expenses involved
without taking any profit for
his hard work he just lost his
temper saying that how can
you charge Rs.9000/- for
such a simple idol. And he
started arousing Mr. Pitale.
He said you are making
money out of Shri Sai Baba.
You are misusing his name.
He just poured all bad words
that one could think of. But
Mr. Manohar Pitale was
unmoved because he knew
that he had not done
anything wrong and he had
not asked for a single penny
extra. In spite of the
disappointing response by
that person, Mr. Pitale was
hospitable to him and did not
lose his temper. Seeing all
this happening to his father,
Amol Pitale, son of Mr. Pitale,
who was in a medical
college that time was very
upset. But kept quiet so as
not to insult the guest. After
the guest left the house
without taking the idol made
for him, Amol told his father
not to sell this gracious idol
in any condition, in future.
Two years passed. The idol
of Shri Sai Baba was there
on the table in the house.
Amol completed his medical
education by this time. One
day he suggested his father,
Mr. Manohar Pitale, to keep
the idol in his ground floor
office. But once it was kept
there, people passing by
would look at the idol and
would come in and pray and
would offer some prasad or
money. Not knowing what to
do with the money offered to
Shri Sai Baba. Amol and his
father, Mr. Manohar Pitale,
contacted a lawyer for the
advice who suggested to
from a trust and keep the
money under that trust.
Taking a clue from it the
Pitales formed a small trust
which was named
“Gurusthan Trust’. They did
not stop with this but
converted the ground floor
office in to a small temple
and set up that idol of Shri
Sai Baba there. This must
have been the wish of Shri
Sai Baba only, as without his
inspiration the things would
not have happened this way.
It was just a coincidence
which led to the formation of
this Gurusthan Trust.
Gurusthan Trust has utilized
the collected money for
helping cancer patients,
Gujarat earthquake and
Tsunami victims, and
operations of a small child.
Gurusthan trust collects used
books and clothes from
people and distributes
among students in rural
areas. Also, efforts are made
to provide long term
medicines for some patients
with chronic ailments. Free
medical consultation is given
to poor patients in Gurusthan
Trust office every Thursday.
Free Mobile Dispensary
was set-up by Gurusthan
Trust to serve needy and poor
patients. This team also
serves the devotees who
walk down to Shirdi from
Mumbai for the festival of
Ramnavmi. This free mobile
dispensary takes care of the
medical needs of these
devotees. Lakhs of devotees
throng to Shirdi for the festival
of Ramnavmi. Thousands of
devotees walk this distance
of nearly 250 k.m. with
complete devotion. They face
lot of medical problems while
walking. Gurusthan trust’s
free mobile dispensary tries
to serve these people in a
best possible way and tries
to make their journey
comfortable.
The trust also supplies
medicines to the Shri Sai
Baba Palki devotees who
walk on different times
throughout the year.
Gurusthan Trust needs
medicines like: analgesics:
tablets/gels/sprays,
Electrolyte powder (energy
supplements.) Anti-diarrheas.
Anti-infective (antibiotics)
tablets/ creams. Wound
dressings, Anti-allergic,
Cough syrups etc. The trust
also provides free medical
consultation for the poor in
the trust office every
Thursday. They collect
clothes and used text books
from individual and provide it
to the tribal people round the
year.

Miracles of Sacred Udi Shirdi Sai Dham, (A Documentary Film)
It was March 2007, I had
just returned from Shirdi
where I visited for the first
time. All the time I felt the
presence of Sai Baba with
me. On reaching home I
came to know that my son-
in-law’s colleague is in ICU,
with very grim chances to
survive. My daughter was
worried about the wife and
small boy, and did not know
how to help.
I wanted to send sacred
udi to her and became very
anxious to make it reach her
as quickly as possible. I got
in touch with my daughter’s
colleague who was leaving
for Dubai and gave them udi
in a packet to be given to the
patient.
The very next day, my
daughter collected the udi
and took it straight to the ICU.
They gave the patient udi
mixed in water. The wife of
the patient is also a Sai
Devotee. After about three
days, I received email from
my daughter telling ‘Daddy -
Miracle has happened’ as
she had read and heard only
in books or through
someone about the
miracles of Sai Baba’s udi.
Now she was convinced and
will be able to tell others the
powers of sacred udi. After
knowing this, I could not
control myself as tears rolled
down due to happiness, as
a life was saved.
It has given me the energy
and strength to tell all about
the miracles of Sai Baba.
Due to the efforts and
support of my wife,
daughters in this noble path,
we all have become
devotees of Sai Baba. On
regaining consciousness,
her husband came to know
the sacred effect of Sai
Baba’s udi. He also became
a devotee of Sai Baba.
Everyone including his
employer were totally
surprised at his quick
recovery. His employer even
gave him 3/4 months salary
and other benefits to enable
him to take up rest and to be
with his parents. He came to
Shirdi to pray his offers.
Now I make it a point to tell
all about this incident, so that
those who have faith in Sai
Baba could avail the benefit.
As He rightly told his
devotees during His life time
that we need not worry
unnecessary as He will
continue to help all who have
faith in Him and have
‘shraddha’ (devotion) and
‘saburi’ (patience).
