Role of Women
'ntry
I have taken this subject to explain since this subject is still relevant and touchy in our society. While in written and theory male and female have equal ri hts! in practice that"s a different story.
2emale! on the worldview of that time! was not considered as a person but as a tool! as a simple object destined for the service of man! without freedom and willin ness to more important thin s such as3 en a ements! weddin s! etc.. In this society that re ulated relations between people4men free to define their ri hts! the woman had a submission role because she did not order! but just listened. Woman at that time was not maltreated! but simply did not participate in the company of troopers for whom the law was written ... it 5she67 was merely

#t that time! a patriarchal worldview existed! a family where all family members! re ardless of a e! had to obey the father! or husband. 8ne of the most inhuman ri hts that had the master of the house was that of betrothal and marria e of his sons and dau hters no matter the desire of the parties involved in the marital a reement. (au hters betrothal was definitive! but not for the boy. $If the irl does not want to o with the one who has been chosen for her! she can not marry with another person while she lives.9 +:o;;i <.! 1-12! p . 0=-1. $<ven if the boy takes another bride the irl doesn"t have the ri ht to et married until the boy it has died$. +>upovci ?yrja! 1-@2! p . 1A1. In a para raph of the %anun! the discrimination that already existed! at that time was this3 $If the irl who was promised to marria e didn"t want to marry! her husband had the ri ht to take her a ainst her wish and the irl"s family ave some bullets to her husband so that he could kill her if she wanted to escape and the blood wasn"t lost and no reven e was required from the irls family since he would be killin her with her families permission 9. +>upovci ?yrja! 1-@2! p . 1A1. <ven while the boy had the ri ht to decide his own fate the irls fate could be decided even by distant relatives. 2or the boy it was said3 $*he boy has the ri ht to marry to his thou ht! if he doesn"t have parents. Role of Women
*oday women in #lbanian society are equal with men before the law! but equality before the law and in everyday life are two different thin s. We need women H workin women to achieve equality! not only before the law! but also in life! equality with men! equality with husband. We can never be rid of patriarchal society if the woman"s freedom is 5not67 achieved. (espite developments in many areas of life that are takin off! in #lbanian society reat patriarchal family is still present! especially in villa es where many still live under the articles of the $%anun of &ek' (uka jin.$ *he stoppin method of females from schools is still used and also their early betrothal. Bowever a deal worthy to note for the prevention of these en a ements it has been made by residents of >ri;ren. BereEs an important point of this deal3 $If anyone disobeys the decisions that prohibit buyin and sellin of irls and prevent en a ements before sixteen years! will be held from law and the case will appear to the competent bodies of the law$ . +?tara Ielena! 1-.J! p . 1.-4/=1. <xplain this a little betterK
8n the other hand! female education and work are increasin day by day! so from a tradition of close4household it has one to a broader experience4socially. #lbanian woman in the past had no role! it was socially dead and lived a ve etative life. *oday the situation has improved sli htly! but still is far from what it should be. In #lbanian society! in the present moment! two thin s are more ur ent and important3 11 *ry to become aware that female is a person! with all ri hts and duties and 21 participation of women in family and in society! which can be achieved throu h school and work.
8ne thin is already certain! every day a woman becomes aware of the real possibilities! of what it is today and what can and should be in reality. # popular question that is used many times! says so3 # ood measure of the culture of a population is the position of women. *oday in the letter +the law1 women have the ri ht to study! work! but there are many difficulties such as environmental! unfavorable circumstances that make them unable to emer e from family environment. &ittle has been done for the emancipation of women! we can not be satisfied even with todayEs situation! but I believe that we are on the ri ht path and if we continue in this direction the woman"s position is expected to improve further.
