Introduction
1. The Government sets up a regular schedule of hours of work for employees who must work shifts.

1. These guidelines and procedures apply to all employees of Government hospitals and health care facilities working a modified workweek.

De initions
1. 1. 1. 1. 1. !mployee means a worker who is employed in Government hospitals and health care facilities working a modified workweek. "tandard hours o #ork means working 7. hours per day. Modi ied Work Week !"##$ means personnel working compressed work period with no increased cost to the %mployer. Re$ular hours o #ork means 1& consecutive hours per day for employees working a "##. %&ertime is all time re'uired (y the employer and worked (y an employee in e)cess of 1& hours per day on 1& hour shifts.

'uidelines
1. 1. A master weekly shift schedule must (e posted at least five calendar days in advance to cover the work area*s shift re'uirements. If the schedule is revised without five calendar days notice+ the employee shall (e compensated at the rate of time and one,half for the first full shift worked on the new schedule. -u(se'uent shifts worked on the new schedule will (e paid for at the straight time. %mployees shall not (e re'uired to work more than seven consecutive shifts of work (etween days off. The intent is to assign less than the ma)imum.

Two !&$ rest periods with pay of 1 minutes during each partial shift of 7. hours. 1. 4vertime worked immediately following or immediately preceding an employee*s 1& hour scheduled shift will (e paid at dou(le time. 4vertime shall (e paid for all authori5ed hours worked on scheduled days off in accordance with the guidelines for overtime. An employee working an e)tended work day and compressed work week shall (e entitled to the designated paid holidays as specified in Article 16 of the 7ollective Agreement and shall (e paid for same at the employee*s (asic rate for 7. hours. #hen a day designated as a designated paid holiday coincides with an employee*s day of rest+ the employee shall (e paid for the holiday at the employee*s (asic rate for 7. hours. The employee may re'uest the holiday (e taken at a later date. #hen an employee is re'uired to work on a designated holiday+ as part of the employee*s regularly scheduled hours of duty or as overtime when the employee is not scheduled to work+ the employee shall (e paid in addition to the pay that the employee would have (een granted had the employee not worked on the holiday. Twice the employee*s straight time for all hours worked/ or 1. An e'uivalent com(ination of cash and a 7. hour day of leave at a later date convenient to (oth the employee and the employer.
