Volunteer Counselor Job Description PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Minimum Qualifications: ! Desire and ability to work with high school students in the outdoors. Prior experience working with students beneficial. ! Have no hesitation about becoming a mentor with the campers for at least one-year. ! Ability to relate to ones peer group and work well with people from diverse backgrounds. ! Ability to accept supervision, guidance and constructive feedback. ! Ability to assist in teaching an activity. ! Be a positive role model for children and peers (exemplary character, good judgment, approachable, etc!) ! Be an undergraduate student ! Be at least 18 years old. Major Responsibilities: ! Maintain the health and safety of all campers. ! Work closely with co-counselors to identify and meet camper needs. ! Create group unity and provide opportunities for each camper to experience success. ! Provide guidance and encouragement for the camper participation in activities. ! Keep in contact with mentees at a minimum of once a month Benefits: ! Personal growth and satisfaction. ! Opportunity to enhance interpersonal communication and leadership skills. Mandatory Dates: ! Monthly meetings upon accepting the position until camp ! Annual CampMed: 2PM Friday, April 4, 2014 to 3PM Sunday, April 6, 2014 **All participants must be transported by bus to campsite on Friday and back to campus on Sunday I hereby agree that I have read and understand the above. INTERN APPLICATION (OPTIONAL) Last Name First Name We are offering an exciting opportunity for two counselors to be interns for the board this year! As an intern, you will be responsible for attending weekly board meetings in addition to your monthly counselor meetings. You and your co-intern will act as high school liaisonyour responsibilities will include establishing a good relationship with the high school, scheduling information sessions about camp, organizing parent meetings, and being accountable for your students. You will have the opportunity to be a part of board meetings, participate in critical decisions, and will be guaranteed a spot on next years board.
