Jim & Emi CivaleMissionaries to Samoa

Samoa, officially the Independent State of Samoa, formerly known as Western Samoa. The country dropped the "Western" from its name in 1997. It is a country encompassing the western part of the Samoan Islands in the South Pacific Ocean. It became independent from New Zealand in 1962. Jim moved to the Samoan islands in 1989, as a final step, before entering the seminary to join the Jesuit priesthood. That year, he met Emi, who was working with the Poor Sisters of Nazareth, and was about to join the convent. In 1990, they abandoned their plans to become a priest and nun, and were married instead. For the next six years, Jim and Emi remained devout Roman Catholics, attending daily mass, and having their four children baptized as infants. In 1996, Jim received Christ as Savior. Six months later, Emi was saved. At that time, they left the Catholic church, and joined Grace Baptist Church in American Samoa. Shortly after Jim and Emi were saved, baptized, and added to Grace Baptist Church, the missionary pastor of the church needed to leave the islands suddenly, and the Lord led Jim to start Vai o le Ola (Living Waters) Baptist Church in his living room. Jim and Emi are currently working on their second church plant, Asau Baptist Church, which began in 2010. Jim and Emi have also invested much time and energy on the Samoan Bible Project, which will allow Samoan people to receive the entire Word of God freely in their own language.

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF YOUR INCOME WILL YOU COMMIT TO MISSIONARY ENDEAVORS?

During the month of October, our church family determines our missionary budget by the amount we pledge to give through our commitment cards. Faith Promise Commitment cards are being distributed and collected today. Through prayer and dependence on God, we would like you to make a 12month commitment to our missionaries, like you make long-term commitments to banks to purchase cars, or a house.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS Turn your clocks BACK one hour before retiring on Saturday evening, November 2.

Youre invited to listen to our internet radio station, GlorifyRadio.com, on your computer, smart phone, or iPod/iPad.

DO YOU KNOW WITH BIBLE CERTAINTY THAT HEAVEN WILL BE YOUR ETERNAL HOME?
Our Dilemma: We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God Romans 3:23. Our Inability: We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned. We need a Saviour. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord Romans 6:23. Our Saviour: Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the human family, lived sinlessly, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life John 3:16. Our Response: Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as Gods children. Whisper a sincere prayer and invite Christ to save you. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved Romans 10:13.
