CMRC MX Pro National: 6th round, St-Thecle, QC, July 26th, 2009
The 6th round of the CMRC Nationals was held in the small town of Ste-Thecle, Quebec this past weekend. The
weather would not cooperate with the race schedule and the track soon became a muddy mess. The Royal
Distributing Thor KTM MX team were well prepared and went to go to the gate in the extremely undesirable
conditions. Due to worsening weather throughout the day the CMRC decided to run the race with a 1 Moto format;
therefore, the one and only moto run per class would determine the days overall results.
Blasting off the gate in the MX 2 Class and rounding the corner in the top 5 were Royal Distributing Thor KTM
was the 250 SX-F of Kyle McGlynn. His teammate Eric Nye started just outside the top 5 and grabbed a handful
of tearoffs on a charge to the front. In near blinding rain and with mud up to the axles, both of the Royal
Distributing Thor KTM 250 SX-F’s powered through the rutted track. The defending champion Eric Nye had
some issues during the moto and lost positions as he dealt with the conditions. His teammate Kyle McGlynn was
able to make a pass early in the race and grab the lead in front of small but enthusiastic crowd. Never faltering the
#32 of McGlynn rode the entire moto without going down and scored his first career MX 2 Overall win putting
Royal Distributing Thor KTM on top of the MX 2 podium.
Under even more extreme conditions the MX 1 class went to the line knowing the track was as bad as they’ve
ever experienced. A decision was made to shorten the normally 35 minutes moto in half so it was imperative to
ride as smart and consistent as possible to do well. After a season of what seems to be bad luck and injury,
Royal Distributing Thor KTM rider Mason Phillips finally turned his season around and grabbed the Holeshot
on his KTM 450 SX-F. The #15 of Phillips never once looked back and leading wire to wire taking the checkered
flag ahead of the entire field. His win was not only his first MX 1 Overall win, but it was also KTM Canada’s first
ever MX 1 National moto win. Teammates Ryan Millar and Jeff Northrop rode the ridiculously muddy track the
th th
entire moto never giving up and finishing the race while scoring valuable points 14 and 13 position respectively.

Orange Motorsports/RTR Performance Troy Lee Designs teammates Liam O’Farrell and Kerim Fitz-Gerald
had a very successful day in the muddy conditions. The #19 of on his OMS/RTR prepped 250 SX-F Fitz-Gerald
grabbed a top 5 start and managed to make a few key passes up into the top 7 before a slight tip over on the last
lap allowed riders by. The Troy Lee Designs backed rider managed not to panic and regrouped crossing the
finish line in 10th place. His teammate and OMS/RTR Performance Troy Lee Designs rider Liam O’Farrell
