Praise the Lord for Dennis & Lynn Free') our fellow-
missionaries now on the field^and working with us in E. Java. Their arrival has been a great blessing
to us a l l and we are sure the Lord will use them
mightily because of their wonderful spirit of Christ ian love, dedication and eagerness to do His will.
Within a month and 3 days after their arrival Lynn gave birth to their first child, Brian_^ith, who is presently a 17h lb., 5 month old boy and the very im age of his daddy. Needless to say, he is the center
of attraction at home, in the market and wherever the
Frees take him.
So many events have taken place over these past months that we can only relate them
briefly. In addition to the arrival of the
Frees, the birth of their son, and opening a new work in Rogojampi, we were blessed by
the brief ~vIsXt._of Bro^ C.onlen. Sllsby, a
former professor of Carl's at Minnesota Bible College, now the Director of "The Traveling Christian College", Seattle, Wash. His arrival coincided with the quarter ly missionary meeting so he told us of the plans of the college to visit Indonesia in the spring of 1977. Carl
& Handojo guided Bro. Silsby on a trip to the island of Bali for further investigations into cultural studies for the college and saw him "off" to Australia from there. After returning home Carl & Dennis got to work immediately on getting their ocean freight cleared through customs in far-away Jakarta (600 miles from here), transported to Batu by truck, locating a house for the Frees, plus dozens of trips made to immigrations, police, the dept^ of religion, and to town and village offices to complete Frees' legal registrations. This consumed weeks and months of TIME! The house rented by the Frees is located in Batu, 5 kilometers from our home in the village of Punten (just outside of Batu). They are happily settled and busily engaged in language study. .In July we had the joy of hosting the annual gathering of our missionari'es from across Indonesia. This threeday time of fellowship, prayer and discussions
was a tremendous blessing and all seemed to enjoy the cool mountain weather, the outdoor bar-
bgue and song-fest around the campfire, plus the hot-springs baths. All the children ate apples and enjoyed games of volleyball, ping pong, badminton and playing with our German Shep herd dog. Those attending were: John & Shirley Truscott (Australian missionaries) from Ban dung, and the following....all from Salatiga in Central Java....Lew & Vida Cass family. Bob & Diane^^gafoose family, Robert & Janice MacLean family, John Dorothy Harper, and Misses Jean Con^r and Linda Joyner The Wineqarner, Furnas and Ritchey families are presently in

There are times when our HANDS ARE TIED! This has certainly been the case with getting the large ATF Offset Printing Press into In donesia! The very same month we arrived in~Indonesia from our furlough, the govt. passed a law regarding the import of some major items, including printing presses and equipment. The new law levied a 100% to 150% duty on such imports! We've been trying to find a way to avoid paying that high rate, but have found it impossible! Having
paid $3400 for the press (used price) in the U.S. we felt we could not
exactly the same price we paid for it.__NOW we must do our best to repair the small tabletop A.B. Dick press we have here in Indonesia and m^e_ it
do for all our printing needs. We are truly grateful to all our many
friends who helped us purchase the large ATF press for Indonesia, and if they do not object,
we'll use these gifts to repair our small press and print more Bible correspondence materials
and New Testament Christian literature.

TODAY (as I write this newsletter) two more villages near the Rogojampi church have opened up and we've been asked to begin preaching and teaching Christ there/ A widow is willing to give a piece of land for a church house in one of these places and the head of a village wants to

gr^ce. will not be writing "Grace Notes" in this issue because she has broken
i her left wrist, for the second time in. four jiK>nths! She is wearing an alumin um, splint-cast until the first week in October. Her first break was from a fall down the back steps and the second from trying to hold our large dog when he attacked our neighbor's dog, upsetting Grace and throwing her weight on that left wrist again. Pray for her speedy and complete recovery.
The month of
August is a special time in our house as so many anniversaries take place. Aug. 2nd is Monica's birthday, Aug. 7th is, our wedding anni versary, the 23rd is Monica's and David's wedding anniversary and the 27th, Philip's birthday. Since Bro, Handojo's birthday is just one day later (28th) and two of Philip's boyfriends had birthdays in Aug., we invited them all to share a meal with us and special treats of angel food cake, home-made ice cream and barbequed rabbit!
_Phil^ has grown taller than either his Mom or Dad. He appears at "the right with his German Shepherd dog (given to him by an Austra
