Preinsulated pipe end cap
Product features
The preinsulated pipe end cap is a heat-
shrinkable part, manufactured from a
molecular crosslinked polyolefin.
It is designed to seal the annulus between
carrier and outer pipe. The cap is coated with
a specially developed adhesive inside both
outlets. During installation, one outlet of the
cap shrinks down onto the pipe jacket while
the other outlet recovers onto the service pipe.
During this process, the adhesive forms a
permanent seal between the service pipe and
the outer jacket.
Internal protection of insulation
Factory installed, DHEC end caps protect the
integrity of the thermal insulation during pipe
transportation and storage. On installed
preinsulated pipe systems the end caps
prevent water vapour migration across the
joint in the event of a pipe leak or insulation
jacket failure. They confine insulation
degradation to one pipe length or the pipe
area.
Versatility
DHEC end caps are provided in several pipe
sizes and/or insulation thicknesses to
accommodate dimension variations of pipe
and insulation.
Availability
They are available from stock in a range of
standard sizes covering most existing
preinsulated pipe sizes.
Economical
DHEC end caps can be installed in minutes.
Once in service, they prevent degradation of
insulation material over long lengths of the
pipe network, reducing repair costs.
