Inteoduction
This manval has been developed to provide a method of rectifying water ingress problems
found in Land Rover Defenders, with the aim of improving customer satisfaction. It
provides a means of finding the source of water ingress along with the appropriate
rectification method.

Assumptions
It is assumed thatthe service technicians using the mancal will have a certain level of
‘expertise that will enable them to perform the rectification processes effectively. For
ccxtmple, in prosess that involves tealing inside 2 door fame, itis assumed that the
Technician would have the expertise to know that the door easing must rst be removed
‘before performing the sealing process.

‘Once « customer has reported a water leak in ther vehicle this manual should be used

The téchrique used to locate water ingress paths involves spraying the vehicle ll over
swith s hose. The vehicle shouldbe sprayed continuous fora good four to five micutes
‘with al ereas being thoroughly covered
[Before spraying, interior eatpetsimats are removed fiom the front and rear of the veticle
(depending on ihe derivative ie. pick-up truck or twelve’ seater), this sossts is the

the font and back ofthe vehicle watching for water Ieaks. Tf leak is spotted, the general

Upon identification of a leak, the local area surrounding it is focused on. This involves
one technician standing outside the vehicle spraying a hose atthe suspected water ingress
trea. Simuitaneously, another techreian would be positioned inside the vehicte looking
for the leak path. Once the water leak path has been identified the eppropriaie
rectification processes i used ta cure the problem.
