Qualities of Instructor which contributed to success of the course. She showed a lot of real examples, like pictures of places or famous people from that time that were interesting to learn about. She also knew a lot of information about basically anything and everything so any questions we asked would get answered and talked about. I loved that she also connected a lot of things from the past to todays history, which made it all seem pretty relevant. extremely enthusiastic, easy to talk to, understanding, friendly, fair Young and relates to the students; you can tell that she knows her material when it comes to a lot of things

Qualities of Instructor which hindered success of the course.

Opinions of course, including printed materials.

Additional comments to improve overall quality of the course.

Any other comments.

Nothing.

Great course. Ive taken this section of history before in high school and I learned a lot more now than I did back then. Especially about a lot of stuff that matters since it relates to today.

It was great how it was. Wouldnt change anything.

very interesting Great class, thankfully only one textbook

Great professor Prof. Lyon is the best. Ive learned so much from her and love how passionate she is towards the subject. She is very fair yet a tough grader so its a great balance. She knows everything there is to know about history. Really enjoyed the course!

Prof. Lyons is one of the greatest professors Ive had! Shes so passionate about the subject and always tells us cool interesting facts to keep us interested. She is funny, very very smart, and very fair.

None!

The course is excellent. Ive learned so much from her class lectures that I dont need the textbook all that much.

None. She knows what shes doing.

She was enthusiastic and interested in the subject matter. She also included lots of humor to help make history more interesting. She taught the class as if she was having a conversation with students instead of just lecturing, which is an effective teaching method.

Pretty interesting course. The textbook was very helpful and I read every chapter.

Be more specific in what youre looking for the essays because the assignment sheets are a bit vague in how to construct a thesis for the papers. Also, working with ISIS or some other electronic form would be better than course reserves because course reserves has many issues online.

very easy to talk to and understand She genuinely loves history and teaching. Her enthusiasm made me even more excited to learn. She is extremely down to earth and understanding of student problems. Very enthusiastic. Loved it. It was extremely interesting, the material was easily understood, and the supplemental information made the classes very exciting and enthralling. I enjoyed it Keep doing what youre doing

none.

I felt she was wonderful and knew how to relay concepts on a level that students would understand. I also enjoyed that she taught the class from the perspective that we would have seen at the time in history, not from the perspective of a president or a textbook. I would love to take any class that she teaches.

none at all

Ms. Lyon is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate on the subject matter. She if fairly flexible. She gave many opportunities for extra credit.

The test were unreasonably difficult and required far more effort and time than was necessary to convey a working knowledge of the material. The essays assigned were somewhat difficult to understand. The grading of the essays seemed to be more concerned with structure rather than content. I don't believe Ms. Lyon should have been so restrictive with the structure of the essays. There are many different writing styles and the one she chose was limiting. I felt like this was treated as a writing course. Also, her office hours were very limited.

I loved the class. I took this class as an elective as I am a health science major and I really enjoyed it. I did not like having to write the papers as I have three times fulfilled my gordon rule requirement. I felt the textbook was pretty good. I did not like all of the political aspects of the textbook I felt that many of the chapters were very heavy with that material. I really liked learning about the abstract stuff like listening to songs, watching videos, and reading articles on the side that were relevant. The homicide records were really cool! I felt the tests were kind of difficult not knowing the terms we were going to be tested on as there were many in the book and in lecture. The text book is nothing special. The course as a whole is average. It could have been far better if the tests were not so overwhelming. I could have conveyed my knowledge far better had been structured just a little more generally. The level of mastery required for the tests seems a little unreasonable given the nature of the course.

I felt that I would have learned more if the class moved a little bit faster. Knowing I was one of the few seniors in the class and that some of the people in our class would not have handled a faster moving class, I understand why we went at the speed we did. I would have liked to learn even more about some of the topics we talked about.

Thank you for being so awesome!!!!

Give exams that let students communicate their knowledge in different ways. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. The exams were very one dimensional and required impecable writing and organizational skills, but under great time constraints. I learned a lot in this class, but my test scores did not accurately reflect my working knowledge of the material.

Use power points. Make a more generalized exam format.

She was one of the best teachers I have had at UF. She made class very discussions very open and casual, so students would not be scared to participate. She also made every topic seem more interesting than I thought they would be, and she was always willing to meet us at the library to help us with assignments. awesome lady. very relatable, super smart, and nice

Very interesting and I never thought I would say that about history. I also loved how there was no busy work or quizzes.

Great the way it is!

Best teacher and great class. I learned a lot.

nope. shes great.

Extremely helpful! The first teacher I have had that has taken the time to sit down and look at my work, and not only grade it but critique it so that I can improve in the long run. She is enthusiastic and interesting. She was able to make us feel comfortable and learn more than was required. She is so extremely personable, relatable, and concerned about her students doing well that she made this course my favorite one of this semester! She translated the information we needed to know in a way that we could all understand and further than that she made history fun to know! I will definitely be recommending her to students interested in taking any history class! Explains concepts easily and thoroughly, professor showed interest in the course and cares a lot about the students! Easy to contact as well

no! She was great!

its a class you have to study for, but if you talk to her and go to her office hours and show effort, you will be rewarded This course was fast paced but interesting and full of knowledge that can be used in other areas besides history.

nope

great teacher. always available even though shes workin on her PhD Best Professor I had this semester!

The lectures were so interesting! The way class began with an interesting video motivated me to get to class on time.
