Energy Performance
Evaluating the Performance of LEED-Certified Buildings
Existing buildings earn Energy & Atmosphere credits by achieving or exceeding a specific Portfolio Manager Score based on actual energy use. Additional EA credits can be earned through additional reductions in energy use and by installing sub-metering systems. For BD&C, projected energy use must be less than a particular threshold and can earn additional points through further energy reductions. In both programs, the owner must participate in the Building Performance Partnership. This course describes the Energy & Atmosphere prerequisites and credits available related to achieving and verifying performance of LEED certified buildings under the EB/O&M and BD&C programs. Course date: Monday, January 28, 2013 Time: 2:45pm-5:45pm Location: Dallas Convention Center, Dallas, TX Instructor: Mark Stetz, P.E., Member ASHRAE, BEAP (Stetz Consulting LLC) Price: $159 ($119 ASHRAE Members) Register: www.ashrae.org/dallascourses
HVAC Applications
Air-to-Air Energy Recovery Applications: Best Practices NEW
Real-world examples of where and how air-to-air energy recovery technologies are integrated into some of the most commonly used commercially available systems are reviewed. Particular configurations that are most commonly used in High-Performance Buildings and how they can best be used to meet strict goals for IEQ and energy efficiency and thermal comfort are discussed. A variety of different dedicated outdoor air systems, neutral air systems and enhanced dehumidification strategies (with single and multiple heat exchangers) are examined. Combined Heat and Power: Creating Efficiency through Design & Operations NEW
The successful implementation and operation of a cogeneration plant is the focus of this course. The course progresses from design through construction and operations, and concludes with three case studies. The design section includes key issues that affect equipment sizes and selections, as well as the effects of those selections on plant performance and heat recovery. The construction section provides an overview of the key steps in a projects construction phase that differ from more typical central plant or general construction projects. The operations section shows the methods that should be implemented to prolong equipment life and promote operational efficiency. Each case study provides background information for the campus, and the corresponding results of the combined heat and power plant installation.
