If the electrode potential is positive, the above reaction is the spontaneous reaction
in the direction left to right. If the electrode potential is negative, the spontaneous
reaction is in the opposite direction.
The logarithm of the constant for the redox equilibrium, K, for the overall cell
reaction as written above is shown in the last column of the Table. If the equilibrium
constant, KH, for the hydrogen half-cell reaction is taken as unity, that is
