Cabled Warmer

Materials: I/5.50 mm hook Worsted yarn- about 400 yds to get 10 wide by 38 longsample shown uses two skeins Red Heart SS. To make this wider, add stitches to the ribbed edges, or add more sc stitches between the small cables and the larger cabled section. Special Stitches: blo- work stitch into the back loop only. FPdc- front post double crochet: Yarn over, insert hook from front to back around the post of indicated st, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through last two loops. FPtr- front post treble crochet: Yarn over twice, insert hook from front to back around the post of indicated st, yarn over, pull loop through, (yarn over, pull through two loops) three times. FPdtr-front post double treble crochet: Yarn over three times, insert hook from front to back around the post of indicated st, yarn over, pull loop through, (yarn over, pull through two loops) four times.

Row 1 Fsc 35. Turn. Row 2 ch 1, sc blo in first 5 st, sc in next 25 st, sc blo in last 5 st. Turn. Row 3 ch 1, sc blo in first 5 sc, FPdc around the post of the st two rows below, sc in next sc, FPdc around the post of the st two rows below, sc in next 2 sc, (FPtr around post of each of next 3 st two rows below, sc in next sc) 3 times, FPtr around the post of the next 3 st two rows below, sc in next 2 sc, FPdc around the post of the next st two rows below, sc in next sc, FPdc around the post of the next st two rows below, sc blo in last 5 sc. Turn. Row 4 repeat row 2

Notes: When working behind the post stitches, it may help to pull the stitches you are working behind towards you and down a little. You will be working in front of the sc, so theres only a little pocket space to work in. Its a bit tricky the first few times, but, as with anything, it comes with practice.

Turn Row 18 Repeat row 2 Row 19 Repeat row 15

Repeat rows 4-19 for pattern to your desired length. For a nice finished look, I suggest ending on a Row 15. I used a button for closure--it slides easily between the small cable post stitches. But you could use so many other things: a velvet ribbon, hook-and-eye closures, just let it lie how it may, etc.
