Baptism
Baptismal Preparation for parents and godparents: 7 8:30 pm the last Monday of the month. Call for Reservations. Baptisms are usually the first Sunday of the month.

Anointing of the Sick

Please notify us (355.1292) as early as possible for the Anointing of the Sick, the sacrament intended for the seriously ill or dying. It is Our Lords special presence and companionship in serious time of need. Anointing may take place in the home, at the hospital or elsewhere and as often as once a month. If someone should die without anointing, remember that the desire to receive is sufficient and the Lord cares!

Reconciliation and First Eucharist

Preparation for children who have attained the age of reason (usually during 2nd grade) is arranged either through the Office of Religious Education or St. Rita Elementary School.

Matrimony

If You Should Experience the Loss of a Loved One

Please call us at 355.1292 If you feel you will be in need, or your loved one has passed, we will assist in making arrangements with your chosen funeral directors; refer you to our liturgy and music directors; and offer you helpful guidelines and a book that will aid in the selection of readings for the Mass or Memorial Service. Areas we can help you with prior to the passing may help in the planning of funeral services. We know that this can be a tough time and we want you to know that your parish is there for you. PLEASE UNDERSTAND we only have one resident priest; sometimes arrangements for another priest may be needed.

Contact the Parish Office upon engagement; at least six months is needed for preparation of this joyous sacrament!

Dear Parishioners,
In todays Gospel proclamation we are told that only one of the ten lepers returned to Jesus to offer praise and thanks to God for his cure, which caused Jesus to ask:

Where are the other nine?

Every time I hear this account, my reaction is embarrassment. But why? This happened over 2000 years ago, and yet I feel somehow ashamed and embarrassed as if it had just happened. I wonder if it is because of the way I was raised; you know, the voice of your parent, Did you remember to say thank you?especially to Jesus! I think we would all like to believe that we would be the one who returned with thanks and praise; but dont you just have a twinge of concern or fear that you might have rather easily been one of those nine others who became caught up in themselves and their incredible good fortune that any thought of thanksgiving just seemed to evaporate? Lately I have come to associate thanksgiving with forgiveness. At first it does not seem to be such an immediate connection. However, if you think about it, both actsthanking or forgivingreward the one who thanks and the one who forgives. Both acts are even known to improve ones health. St. Paul instructs his readers, Dedicate yourself to thankfulness. Why? Because thankfulness to Godfor the day, for a friend, for an answer to prayer, is part of being in a real relationship with God and part of living the reign of God now, on Earth. Thankfulness is part of an at peace disposition, part of human happiness. Forgiveness likewise rewards the one who forgives. With a sigh of relief, one who has forgiven is able to then move onget on with life instead of being a prisoner to hate and resentment, or (God forbid!) prisoner to years of ill health generated by all the energy spent and abiding negativity required to hold a grudge. Imagine, No, I dont have forgiveness in my heart. I have grudginessyoull also probably have an ulcer or shingles before its over. And then one has to ask, if possessed in spitefulness, how far has my heart wandered from being dedicated to thankfulness? So what did happen to those other nine lepers? Well never know. We do know, however, the joy and happiness of the one who returned to thank the Lord. We know that his relationship to Jesus deepened and produced even greater rewards. Not a bad thought seeing as how the supermarkets are already putting out the stuffing mix for THANKSGIVING.

Ministry Fair A Great Success!

Congratulations to all for the wonderful displays at our 2013-14 Ministry Fair. There were many creative, beautiful and inspiring displays that again made it very difficult to choose a winner. However, the votes are tallied; the results are in AND WE HAVE TWO WINNERS. Our winners are: Art and Environment for the beauty of their display and Holy Housekeepers for creativity and humor. Each of these ministries will receive $50 to be used for their good work.
