NARRATIVE REPORT Group 9

Every Bit of It

It has been a wonderful journey going to a place like Mauban where someone can enjoy while learning a lot of things, with its refreshing breeze that smells like the sea, its breath-taking sceneries that feel like peace, and its ambience that seems serene. It has a good foundation of people and a strong cooperation of each citizen. They welcome visitors with warmth and hospitality.

Our first week in the area went well since the previous group finished working with the surveys, spot mapping, and making miniature houses. We had double checked the data gathered and validated the number of houses written on the draft. We also spent time painting the location map of Barangay Mabato with designated colors for each BHWs. It was quite hard to maintain the equal thickness of the paint so we need to be more careful. We also encoded and tallied the data gathered by the previous group. It was not that easy to tally data, because it needs a lot of concentration not to get mixed up with all the numbers that need to be computed. It was one of the best weeks we had ever experienced. Our clinical instructor discussed first how to make the family case. Then we also had our survey at Barangay Sadsaran regarding the family case that we were about to make.

During the second week of our duty, we spent hours in completing the data of the barangay. We cut, we pasted, we encoded, and we printed. We prepared it for the data board that shows all the information of Barangay Mabato. These tasks just prove that nurses must not be just knowledgeable and skillful but also be creative and resourceful enough. It was not that easy to put all these stuffs in its respective places because we need first to refer it to the map before we paste it to the data board permanently. It took us a lot of time to finish it completely.

As we have our duty in Mauban, we realized how blessed we are for we were given an opportunity to take this wonderful experience that will arm us to be a fully equipped Community Health Nurse. We have seen the real essence of life. Seeing how the people weve encountered struggle to keep living and surviving. Behind all those hard times they are getting, you wont see any worries or hear them complaining instead they still wear those big smiles as if saying that they are happy and contented with their simple lives.

This duty serves as an instrument to strengthen the bond and teamwork of our group. Though sometimes we have misunderstandings, it didnt become a hindrance for us to work as a team and as a family.

We were very grateful for giving our group the chance to be exposed in this field of nursing, for opening our eyes with the reality of life, for letting our hand hold the responsibilities and for the opportunity that allowed us to touch lives. Truly, nursing is not just about being in the hospital. It is being flexible. It is loving every bit of it.

HISTORY OF MAUBAN

Mauban was initially composed of five small settlements known as Cagsiay, Daungan, Dumagat, Pingbayanan, Luya-Luya and Tubog. Daungan Dumagat was led by Gat Pagil, a Dumagat. It was then situated at what today is pier area. On the other hand, Pingabayanan that was located by the side of Maapon River was the seat of Government among tagalogs led by Luis Bernardo. Both communities were always subjected to raids of Moros though Daungan dumagat through their great warrior and leader always felt a sense of security. Lack of road access kept the two settlers from combining forces. In 1678 after the demise of Luis Bernardo, the settlers started encountering severe and ruthless attack from Moros. Baltazar Palad, Pinagbayanans new leader joined forces with Gat Pagil by relocating Daungang Dumagat. Both settled in an area which they called Batis-Malinaw, a spring that produce crystal clear water and the place where civilization started to what is Mauban. Their joining forces produced peace and order. Later, people from Cavinti, Laguna and other nearby town came to Batis Malinaw and mingled with them forming a new community. The dissimilarity of the way of life of the new settlers with the group generated disputes. Because of that, the Dumagat community who was known to leave in isolation with other cultures decided to leave Batis Malinaw unnoticed by other settlers. Two memories about Gat Pagil lingered in the hearts and minds of the settlers, one was his military genius and second was his gray hair which observed since he was twenty years old. Because of the color of his hair, he ws fondly called Gat Uban (uban tagalong term for white and believe to be sign of wisdom) which was later change to Mauban as they get closer to him. Patterned after the common Spanish Government structure throughout the Philippines, mauban was founded as municipality in 1583.

Kasaysayan ng Brgy. Mabato

Ayon sa mga matatanda, noong una ang lugar na ito ay dating bundok at maraming malalaking bato, kung saan ang mga tahanan ay layu layo, ang bundok na ito rin ang pinangyarihan ng paglalabanan ng mga tinatawag na Hukbalahap na kung tawagin ngayon ay mga NPA o mga taong labas at ng mga Militar, ito ay dahil sa hindi pagkakasundo ng pamamalakad sa bansa. Matatagpuan din sa gubat o lugar na ito ang mga ibat ibang klase ng mga hayop tulad ng ahas, kuwago, paniki at kung anu ano pang mga hayop na matatagpuan lamang sa kagubatan.

Sa bundok o lugar ding ito matatagpuan ang mga pinakamaraming malalaking bato. Taong 1702 hanggang 1710 inatag at pinagbuti ang daang patungong banyo buhat sa Soledad hanggang Daungang Dumagat na kung tawagin ngayon ay Jocson Street. Taong1814, si Ventura de San Miguel naman ang nagpagawa ng daang Soledad, na ngayon ay Bonifacio Street.

Sa panulukan naman ng ngayoy P. Burgos at P. Gomez, ipinanganak si Don Quirino ang ama ni Dr. Jose V. Eleazar noong 1887.

1909 sa lugar ding ito natatag ang Iglesia ni Cristo sa pangangasiwa ni Hipolito Calamigan at Tomas Revuelta.

1917 nadagdag ang Iglesia Adventista na pinamahalaan naman ni Eriberto Malabunga.

1937 pinasimulan ang pagtatabag ng bundok sa dulo ng Aguinaldo Street upang maging lampasan ito ng daang patungo sa mga Paaralang Bayan sa kabila ng Bundok Paliparan. Ang nasabing bundok ay ipinapatag at ginawang daan na ngayoy dinadaanan ng mga sasakyan, bagamat mataas naging

maganda pa rin naman ang hitsura ngayon ng nasabing bundok na datiy magubat at mabato. Sa ngayon ay makikita pa rin ang mga batong malalaki na nasa bandang likuran ng Barangay Hall ng Mabato. Sa lugar ding ito nanggaling ang ilan sa mga kinikilalang tao sa Mauban katulad nina G. Amado Clemente, G. Wilfrido Enverga, G. Rafael G. Bantayan, G. Godofredo at Atty. Jode Laureles, Bb. Nenuca Almira, Gng. Rosario Encomienda, G. Manuel Callejo, Atty. Eladio Pasamba at dating Mayor Rexito P. Bantayan.

Sa ngayon ang lugar na ito ang isa sa mga pinakatahimik na lugar dito sa Bayan ng Mauban ang pinagmulan ng kung tawagin ay Barangay Mabato.

GROUP 9 Halakhalan ng aking Groupmates ang nagsisilbing pampagising sa isang mahabang nakakaantok na byahe patungong Mauban. Ngunit sulit ang lahat dahil sa magagandang tanawing sumalubong sa amin at makabuluhang aral na natutunan namin. -Less Hagalpak pa lang ng tawa sa byahe, sulit na ang mahal ng pamasahe. HAHA. Mauban!!! Enjoy ah!!! Its more FUN in Quezon especially in Mauban.. hahaha. Ramdam ko na talaga ang summer dahil sa kanilang magandang tanawin at sa beaches nila. . Masaya talaga dito kahit hindi kami masyadong nakapag-uli dito sa ikli ng panahon na duty namin. Hindi man kami nakapag-survey pero natapos naming yung mga naiwan nilang mga gawa. oshMauban!! Whoohoo!! Nakakatuwa talaga kasi first time ko makapunta at makita ang bayan na ito at makapag-duty dito kaya mas doble yung saya. Nakakatuwa ung mga ginagawa naming dito tulad ng pageedit ng pictures at papers. Trip to Mauban! Sus bawing bawi yung haba ng byahe at 140 pesos na pamasahe sa saya at bonding na nabuo sa group namin. Siguro isang factor talaga yung bonding nyo sa byahe para mabuild yung teamwork ng group nyo for the improvement of your group

First time at Mauban! Sobrang saya kase nbigyan ng pagkakataon ang group namen n mkaduty dito. Sobra nmeng na-enjoy ang mahabang byahe at bonding ng grupo <3 Its more fun in Mauban -Minay Wow Mauban! Yung tipong feeling mo eh nasa inyo ka lang kasi iba din yung bonding ng group namin.We are like sisters and brothers and its really good for us kasi madali para sa amin gumawa ng mga task -Princess S. Nakakatuwa yung byahe kahit na medyo nakakahilo. First time sa Mauban kaya nakakaexcite. Kahit medyo bitin sa time, worth it naman kc pagtalaga groupmates ang kasama, kahit san naman pumunta, fun saka maingay. Mas lako kaming nagkaroon ng bonding. -Alecx Masaya yung pagpunta namin sa mauban parang family outing lalo na kasama ko ang aking mahal na grupo, medyo nahilo ako sa byahe tapos maulan pa. Pagkadating namin e may mga ginawa na kami para matapos ang aming mga gawain sa tulong ng aming clinical instructor eh nagawa naming ito ng maayos. May mga magagandang tanawin din dito kaya masaya talaga ang pagpunta namin ng mauban. Hindi lang kami natutu pati na rin nagging masaya kami sa aming ginawa sana ay makabalik uli kami dito. M.E.A

First time ko mag duty dito sa mauban. We had fun while doing our requirements. I enjoyed my duty here and also I love this place there are lots of beautiful spots here. I love my duty here nd also the company of all the barangay health team. TINTIN First time ko dito sa Mauban, ahm masaya, kasi gusto kong makapunta sa ibat ibang lugar.
