Which of the ten Asean members has a clean record when it comes to
the issue of human rights ( the genuine type, not the fake ones ) ?
None of the other nine Asean countries has the right to tell Myanmar
what to do. None of them has the right to lecture Myanmar on 'human
rights'. Myanmar does not possess the kind of unenviable record as
those belonging to Asean countries, like Indonesia, for example.
The blood orgies were very well organised whenever they took place,
with high level people all involved and the American Embassy, too.
Naturally, this kind of behaviour does not qualify one to lecture
others about human rights, maybe perhaps, only on animal rights.
Those with very short memories should read up past articles about the
real difference between 'human rights' and 'animal rights'. Read one
on page 26, the Star, 29 January 2006.
And in the place next door, things were never really any better. The
record of intimidation, harassment, discrimination and outright pain
brought to innocent people was and still is just as long as that other
one. All the recent happenings all week are present in all the daily
newspapers. No further elaboration needed here. Are things here any
better than in Yangon ? Definitely no. Worse ? Maybe.
In the Philippines and Thailand, things are not much better either.
Thailand's top dog used to brand its minority 'the Jews of the East'.
Even today, the minority and the innocent especially in the south of
the country are required to have their blood spilled occasionally.
Too ocassionally, in fact. The Philippines is much like a country
or a man using all his time and all his energy trying non-stop to
join and belong to the elite of society but simply could not care
even one tiny bit about the completely empty larders at home. Do
these people have the right to lecture others about human rights ?
All those Judases who have lived and gotten married in the West just
cannot be trusted. These Judases have no right to claim leadership
over their countries' future. Can they ever guarantee that they will
not sell out their country or countries to the West to plunder as they
pleased ? If there is even a moment's hesitation in giving the answer,
then they really have no right at all to claim anything at all. To
insist that they still have the right over the future is to trample
on the rights of others. Is it a human right to trample on the right(s)
of others ? Not a human right but an animal right.
The kind of animal right that can be seen in Iraq today. An animal
right is the kind of right that authorises you to crush the right
of others simply because you were the one holding the reins of power
or the handle of a weapon. Ask those who hold the reins of power
in, for example, Jakarta. Ask those who hold the triggers for the
bullets and missiles in, say, Iraq or Guantanamo.
Probably not. Because they long ago were already as guilty as hell.
They were worse than the nation called Myanmar. Much worse. Totally
much much worse. Horrible. History will be their greatest judge.
Myanmar ? The place where you can still notice plenty of smiles ?
Myanmar is walking a very, very tight rope but she is by no means
falling over the edge yet. The others ? They fell off long, long
ago. A very long time ago. What unredeemable hypocrites.
