Fallen Angels, Demons, Giants

Eph 3:9 and to bring to light all, what is the fellowship of the mystery having been hidden from eternity in God, the One creating all things through Jesus Christ, Eph 3:10 so that now to the rulers and to the authorities in the heavenlies might be made known through the assembly the manifold wisdom of God, Psa 126:1 <A Song of degrees.> When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. The Book of Giants 4Q203, 1Q23, 2Q26, 4Q530-532, 6Q8 Introduction and Commentary It is fair to say that the patriarch Enoch was as well known to the ancients as he is obscure to modern Bible readers. Besides giving his age (365 years), the book of Genesis says of him only that he "walked with God," and afterward "he was not, because God had taken him" (Gen. 5:24). This exalted way of life and mysterious demise made Enoch into a figure of considerable fascination, and a cycle of legends grew up around him. Many of the legends about Enoch were collected already in ancient times in several long anthologies. The most important such anthology, and the oldest, is known simply as The Book of Enoch, comprising over one hundred chapters. It still survives in its entirety (although only in the Ethiopic language) and forms an important source for the thought of Judaism in the last few centuries B.C.E. Significantly, the remnants of several almost complete copies of The Book of Enoch in Aramaic were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, and it is clear that whoever collected the scrolls considered it a vitally important text. All but one of the five major components of the Ethiopic anthology have turned up among the scrolls. But even more intriguing is the fact that additional, previously unknown or little-known texts about Enoch were discovered at Qumran. The most important of these is The Book of Giants. Enoch lived before the Flood, during a time when the world, in ancient imagination, was very different. Human beings lived much longer, for one thing; Enoch's son Methuselah, for instance, attained the age of 969 years. Another difference was that angels and humans interacted freely -- so freely, in fact, that some of the angels begot children with human females. This fact is neutrally reported in Genesis (6:1-4), but other stories view this episode as the source of the corruption that made the punishing flood necessary. According to The Book of Enoch, the mingling of angel and human was actually the idea of Shernihaza, the leader of the evil angels, who lured 200 others to cohabit with women. The offspring of these unnatural unions were giants 450 feet high. The wicked angels and the giants began to oppress the human population and to teach them to do evil. For this reason God determined to imprison the angels until the final judgment and to destroy the earth with a flood. Enoch's efforts to intercede with heaven for the fallen angels were unsuccessful (1 Enoch 6-16). The Book of Giants retells part of this story and elaborates on the exploits of the giants, especially the two children of Shemihaza, Ohya and Hahya. Since no complete manuscript exists of Giants, its exact contents and their order remain a matter of guesswork. Most of the content of the present fragments concerns the giants' ominous dreams and Enoch's efforts to interpret them and to intercede with God on the giants' behalf. Unfortunately, little remains of the independent adventures of the giants, but it is likely that these tales were at least partially derived from ancient Near Eastern mythology. Thus the name of one of the giants is Gilgamesh, the Babylonian hero and subject of a great epic written in the third millennium B.C.E.

Sons of Elohim
Gen 6:2 The sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were good, and they took wives for themselves from all those whom they chose. Job 1:6 And a day came when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah. And Satan also came among them. Job 2:1 And it happened that a day came when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah. And Satan also came among them to present himself before Jehovah. Job 38:4 Where were you when I founded the earth? Declare if you know understanding. Job 38:5 Who has set its dimensions, for you know? Or who has stretched a line on it? Job 38:6 On what were its bases sunk? Or who cast its cornerstone, Job 38:7 when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Psa 29:1 A Psalm of David. Give to Jehovah, sons of mighty ones; give to Jehovah glory and strength. Psa 89:6 For who in the sky shall be ranked with Jehovah, who among the sons of the mighty is like Jehovah? Dan 3:25 He answered and said, Behold! I see four men loose, walking in the middle of the fire, and there is no harm among them. And the form of the fourth is like a son of the gods. Jud 1:6 And those angels not having kept their first place, but having

deserted their dwelling-place, He has kept in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of a great Day; Rev 12:3 And another sign was seen in the heavens. And, behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns! And on his heads were seven diadems, Rev 12:4 and his tail drew the third part of the stars of the heaven, and he throws them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman being about to bear, so that when she bears he might devour her child. Rev 12:7 And war occurred in Heaven, Michael and his angels making war against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels made war, Rev 12:8 but they did not have strength, nor yet was place found for them in Heaven. Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, the old serpent being called devil, and, Satan; he deceiving the whole habitable world was cast out onto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 2Esd 15:35 They shall smite one upon another, & they shall smite down a great multitude of starres upon the earth, even their own starre; and blood shall be from the sword unto the belly. 2Pe 2:4 For if God did not spare sinning angels, but delivered them to chains of darkness, thrust down into Tartarus, having been kept to judgment; 1Pe 3:19 in which also, going in to the spirits in prison, He then proclaimed 1Pe 3:20 to disobeying ones, when once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, an ark having been prepared, into which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 1Co 11:10 because of this, the woman ought to have authority on the head, because of the angels.

Pseudo Jubilee 4:15 in the first week in the third year of this week, [395 A.M] and he called his name Mahalalel. And in the second week of the tenth jubilee [449-55 A.M.] Mahalalel took unto him to wife DinaH, the daughter of Barakiel the daughter of his father's brother, and she bare him a son in the third week in the sixth year, [461 A.M.] and he called his name Jared, for in his days the angels of the Lord descended on the earth, those who are named the Watchers, that they should instruct the children of men, and that they should do 16 judgment and uprightness on the earth. And in the eleventh jubilee [512-18 A.M.] Jared took to himself a wife, and her name was Baraka, the daughter of Rasujal, a daughter of his father's brother, in the fourth week of this jubilee, [522 A.M.] and she bare him a son in the fifth week, in the fourth year of the jubilee, and 17 he called his name Enoch. And he was the first among men that are born on earth who learnt writing and knowledge and wisdom and who wrote down the signs of heaven according to the order of their months in a book, that men might know the seasons of the years according to the order of 18 their separate months. Pseudo Jubilee 5:5 ,6 which He had created. But Noah found grace before the eyes of the Lord. And against the angels whom He had sent upon the earth, He was exceedingly wroth, and He gave commandment to root them out of all their dominion, and He bade us to bind them in the depths of the earth, and 7 behold they are bound in the midst of them, and are (kept) separate. And against their sons went forth a command from before His face that they should be smitten with the sword, and be removed 8 from under heaven. And He said 'My spirit shall not always abide on man; for they also are flesh 9 and their days shall be one hundred and twenty years'. And He sent His sword into their

midst that each should slay his neighbour, and they began to slay each other till they all fell by the sword 10 and were destroyed from the earth. And their fathers were witnesses (of their destruction), and after this they were bound in the depths of the earth for ever, until the day of the great condemnation, when judgment is executed on all those who have corrupted their ways and their works before Pseudo Jubilee 7:20 Meshech and Tiras: these are the sons of Noah. And in the twentyeighth jubilee [1324-1372 A.M.] Noah began to enjoin upon his sons' sons the ordinances and commandments, and all the judgments that he knew, and he exhorted his sons to observe righteousness, and to cover the shame of their flesh, and to bless their Creator, and honour father and mother, and love their neighbour, and guard their souls 21 from fornication and uncleanness and all iniquity. For owing to these three things came the flood upon the earth, namely, owing to the fornication wherein the Watchers against the law of their ordinances went a whoring after the daughters of men, and took themselves wives of all which they 22 chose: and they made the beginning of uncleanness. And they begat sons the Naphidim, and they were all unlike, and they devoured one another: and the Giants slew the Naphil, and the 23 Naphil slew the Eljo, and the Eljo mankind, and one man another. And every one sold himself 24 to work iniquity and to shed much blood, and the earth was filled with iniquity. And after this they sinned against the beasts and birds, and all that moves and walks on the earth: and much blood was shed on the earth, and every imagination and desire of men imagined vanity and evil 25 continually. And the Lord destroyed everything from off the face of the earth; because of the wickedness of their deeds, and because of the blood which they had shed in the midst of the earth Enoc 7:1 It happened after the sons of men had multiplied in those days, that daughters were born to them, elegant and beautiful. 2 And when the angels, N3 the sons of heaven, beheld them, they became enamoured of them, saying to each other, Come, let us select for ourselves wives from the progeny of men, and let us beget children. (3) An Aramaic text reads "Watchers" here (J.T. Milik, Aramaic Fragments of Qumran Cave 4 (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1976), p. 167). 3 Then their leader Samyaza said to them; I fear that you may perhaps be indisposed to the performance of this enterprise; 4 And that I alone shall suffer for so grievous a crime. 5 But they answered him and said; We all swear; 6 And bind ourselves by mutual execrations, that we will not change our intention, but execute our projected undertaking. 7 Then they swore all together, and all bound themselves by mutual execrations. Their whole number was two hundred, who descended upon Ardis, N4 which is the top of mount Armon. (4) Upon Ardis. Or, "in the days of Jared" (R.H. Charles, ed. and trans., The Book of Enoch (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1893), p. 63). 8 That mountain therefore was called Armon, because they had sworn upon it, N5 and bound themselves by mutual execrations. (5) Mt. Armon, or Mt. Hermon, derives its name from the Hebrew word herem, a curse (Charles, p. 63). 9 These are the names of their chiefs: Samyaza, who was their leader, Urakabarameel, Akibeel, Tamiel, Ramuel, Danel, Azkeel, Saraknyal, Asael, Armers, Batraal, Anane, Zavebe, Samsaveel, Ertael, Turel, Yomyael, Arazyal. These were the prefects of the two hundred

angels, and the remainder were all with them. N6 (6) The Aramaic texts preserve an earlier list of names of these Watchers: Semihazah; Artqoph; Ramtel; Kokabel; Ramel; Danieal; Zeqiel; Baraqel; Asael; Hermoni; Matarel; Ananel; Stawel; Samsiel; Sahriel; Tummiel; Turiel; Yomiel; Yhaddiel (Milik, p. 151). 10 Then they took wives, each choosing for himself; whom they began to approach, and with whom they cohabited; teaching them sorcery, incantations, and the dividing of roots and trees. 11 And the women conceiving brought forth giants, N7 (7) The Greek texts vary considerably from the Ethiopic text here. One Greek manuscript adds to this section, "And they (the women) bore to them (the Watchers) three races-first, the great giants. The giants brought forth (some say "slew") the Naphelim, and the Naphelim brought forth (or "slew") the Elioud. And they existed, increasing in power according to their greatness." See the account in the Book of Jubilees. 12 Whose stature was each three hundred cubits. These devoured all which the labor of men produced; until it became impossible to feed them; 13 When they turned themselves against men, in order to devour them; 14 And began to injure birds, beasts, reptiles, and fishes, to eat their flesh one after another, N8 and to drink their blood. (8) Their flesh one after another. Or, "one another's flesh." R.H. Charles notes that this phrase may refer to the destruction of one class of giants by another (Charles, p. 65). 15 Then the earth reproved the unrighteous. Enoc 8:1 Moreover Azazyel taught men to make swords, knives, shields, breastplates, the fabrication of mirrors, and the workmanship of bracelets and ornaments, the use of paint, the beautifying of the eyebrows, the use of stones of every valuable and select kind, and all sorts of dyes, so that the world became altered. 2 Impiety increased; fornication multiplied; and they transgressed and corrupted all their ways. 3 Amazarak taught all the sorcerers, and dividers of roots: 4 Armers taught the solution of sorcery; 5 Barkayal taught the observers of the stars, N9 (9) Observers of the stars. Astrologers (Charles, p. 67). 6 Akibeel taught signs; 7 Tamiel taught astronomy; 8 And Asaradel taught the motion of the moon, 9 And men, being destroyed, cried out; and their voice reached to heaven. Enoc 9:1 Then Michael and Gabriel, Raphael, Suryal, and Uriel, looked down from heaven, and saw the quantity of blood which was shed on earth, and all the iniquity which was done upon it, and said one to another, It is the voice of their cries; 2 The earth deprived of her children has cried even to the gate of heaven. 3 And now to you, O you holy one of heaven, the souls of men complain, saying, Obtain Justice for us with N10 the Most High. Then they said to their Lord, the King, You are Lord of lords, God of gods, King of kings. The throne of your glory is for ever and ever, and for ever and ever is your name sanctified and glorified. You are blessed and glorified. (10) Obtain justice for us with. Literally, "Bring judgment to us from." (Richard Laurence, ed. and trans., The Book of Enoch the Prophet (London: Kegan Paul, Trench & Co., 1883), p. 9). 4 You have made all things; you possess power over all things; and all things are open and manifest before you. You behold all things, and nothing can be concealed from you. 5 You have seen what Azazyel has done, how he has taught every species of iniquity upon earth, and has disclosed to the world all the secret things which are done in the heavens. 6 Samyaza also has taught sorcery, to whom you have given authority over those who are associated with him. They have gone together to the daughters of men; have lain with them; have become polluted;

7 And have discovered crimes N11 to them. (11) Discovered crimes. Or, "revealed these sins" (Charles, p. 70). 8 The women likewise have brought forth giants. 9 Thus has the whole earth been filled with blood and with iniquity. 10 And now behold the souls of those who are dead, cry out. 11 And complain even to the gate of heaven. 12 Their groaning ascends; nor can they escape from the unrighteousness which is committed on earth. You know all things, before they exist. 13 You know these things, and what has been done by them; yet you do not speak to us. 14 What on account of these things ought we to do to them? Enoc 10:1 Then the Most High, the Great and Holy One spoke, 2 And sent Arsayalalyur N12 to the son of Lamech, (12) Arsayalalyur. Here one Greek text reads "Uriel." 3 Saying, Say to him in my name, Conceal yourself. 4 Then explain to him the consummation which is about to take place; for all the earth shall perish; the waters of a deluge shall come over the whole earth, and all things which are in it shall be destroyed. 5 And now teach him how he may escape, and how his seed may remain in all the earth. 6 Again the Lord said to Raphael, Bind Azazyel hand and foot; cast him into darkness; and opening the desert which is in Dudael, cast him in there. 7 Throw upon him hurled and pointed stones, covering him with darkness; 8 There shall he remain for ever; cover his face, that he may not see the light. 9 And in the great day of judgment let him be cast into the fire. 10 Restore the earth, which the angels have corrupted; and announce life to it, that I may revive it. 11 All the sons of men shall not perish in consequence of every secret, by which the Watchers have destroyed, and which they have taught, their offspring. 12 All the earth has been corrupted by the effects of the teaching of Azazyel. To him therefore ascribe the whole crime. 13 To Gabriel also the Lord said, Go to the biters, N13 to the reprobates, to the children of fornication; and destroy the children of fornication, the offspring of the Watchers, from among men; bring them forth, and excite them one against another. Let them perish by mutual slaughter; for length of days shall not be theirs. (13) Biters. More accurately, "bastards" (Charles, p. 73; Michael A. Knibb, ed. and trans., The Ethiopic Book of Enoch (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1978), p. 88). 14 They shall all entreat you, but their fathers shall not obtain their wishes respecting them; for they shall hope for eternal life, and that they may live, each of them, five hundred years. 15 To Michael likewise the Lord said, Go and announce his crime to Samyaza, and to the others who are with him, who have been associated with women, that they might be polluted with all their impurity. And when all their sons shall be slain, when they shall see the perdition of their beloved, bind them for seventy generations underneath the earth, even to the day of judgment, and of consummation, until the judgment, the effect of which will last for ever, be completed. "Rabbi Jose says, following a tradition, that these [Nephilim] were Uzza and Azazel, whom, God deprived of their supernal sanctity. How, it may be asked, can they exist in this world? Rabbi Hiya answers, that they were of a class of spirits referred to in the words, and birds which fly on the earth' (Gen 1:20), and these, as we have said, appear to men in the form of human beings. If it is asked, how can they transform themselves? The answer is, that they do, in fact, transform themselves into all kinds of shapes, because when they come down from heaven they become as concrete as air and take human shape. These are Uzza and Azazel, who rebelled in heaven, and were cast down by God, and became corporeal on the earth and remained on it, not being able to divest themselves of their earthly form.

Subsequently, they went astray after women, and up to this day they exist and teach men the arts of magic. They begat children whom they called Anakim (giants), while the Nephilim themselves were called sons of God'" (Zohar, vol. 1, p. 186). 70 Generations of binding

Now if one counts the generations from Enoch to Yeshua one finds there were sixtynine generations (Luke 3:23-37). So the seventy generations ended one generation after the life of Yeshua. This brings us to an interesting statement made by the Nazarene writer Hegesippus around 185 C.E. as he recounted the beginning of the apostasy: Up to that period the Assembly had remained like a virgin pure and uncorrupted: for, if there were any persons who were disposed to tamper with the wholesome rule of the proclaiming of salvation, they still lurked in some dark place of concealment or other. But, when the sacred band of Emissaries had in various ways closed their lives, and that generation of men to whom it had been vouchsafed to listen to the godlike Wisdom with their own ears had passed away, then did the confederacy of godless error take its rise through the treachery of false teachers, who, seeing that none of the emissaries any longer survived, at length attempted with bare and uplifted head to oppose the proclaiming of the truth by proclaiming "knowledge falsely so called." (Hegessippus; Memoirs) The generation which followed the life of Yeshua and his emissaries was the generation in which Shemikhazah and his associates were to be released. And this was the very generation in which false teachers began with bare and uplifted head to oppose the proclaiming of the truth, the very generation in which the apostasy began. Therefore flee fornication, my children, and command your wives and your daughters that they adorn not their heads and their faces; because every woman who acteth deceitfully in these things hath been reserved to everlasting punishment. For thus they allured the Watchers before the flood; and as these continually beheld them, they fell into desire each of the other, and they conceived the act in their mind, and changed themselves into the shape of men, and appeared to them in their congress with their husbands; and the women, having in their minds desire toward their apparitions, gave birth to giants, for the Watchers appeared to them as reaching even unto heaven.

Nations went astray, and forsook the Lord, and changed their order, and followed stones and stocks, following after spirits of error. But ye shall not be so, my children, recognising in the firmament, in the earth, and in the sea, and in all created things, the Lord who made them all, that ye become not as Sodom, which changed the order of its nature. in like manner also the Watchers changed the order of their nature, whom also the Lord cursed at the flood, and for their sakes made desolate the earth, that it should be uninhabited and fruitless.

Mixing between Fallen Angels and Women

Dan 2:43 And as you saw the iron mixed with the clay of the clay, they shall be mixed with the seed of men. But they shall not adhere to one another, even as iron does not mix with clay. Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings, the God of Heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed. And the kingdom shall not be left to other people. It shall break in pieces and destroy all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Gen 6:4 The giants were in the earth in those days, and even afterwards when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore to them; they were heroes which existed from ancient time, the men of name.

the Targum of Jonathan mentions by name, and calls them Schanchazai and Uziel, who fell from heaven, and were in the earth in those days: Antiquities 1.3.1 For many angels (11) of God accompanied with women, and begat sons that proved unjust, and despisers of all that was good, on account of the confidence they had in their own strength; for the tradition is, that these men did what resembled the acts of those whom the Grecians call giants. But Noah was very uneasy at what they did; and being displeased at their conduct, persuaded them to change their dispositions and their acts for the better: but seeing they did not yield to him, but were slaves to their wicked pleasures, he was afraid they would kill him, together with his wife and children, and those they had married; so he departed out of that land. Antiquities book 5 Chapter 2 sec 3. For which reason they removed their camp to Hebron; and when they had taken it, they slew all the inhabitants. There were till then left the race of giants, who had bodies so large, and countenances so entirely different from other men, that they were surprising to the sight, and terrible to the hearing. The bones of these men are still shown to this very day, unlike to any credible relations of other men.
2 Esdras 5:6 And even he shall rule, whom they look not for that dwell upon the earth, and the fowls shall take their flight away together: 7 And the Sodomitish sea shall cast out fish, and make a noise in the night, which many have not known: but they shall all hear the voice thereof. 8 There shall be a confusion also in many places, and the fire shall be oft sent out again, and the wild beasts shall change their places, and menstruous women shall bring forth monsters:

Companion Bible:
"If these Nephilim . . . were associated with Egypt, we have an explanation of the problem which has for ages perplexed all engineers, as to how those huge stones and monuments were brought together. . . . "Moreover, we have in these mighty men, the 'men of renown,' the explanation of the origin of the Greek mythology. That mythology was no mere invention of the human brain, but it grew out of the traditions, and memories, and legends of the doings of that mighty race of beings; and was gradually evolved out of the 'heroes' of Gen.6:4. The fact that they were supernatural in their origin formed an easy step to their being regarded as the demi-gods of the Greeks" (appendix 25).

According to the Clementine Homilies, in The Ante-Nicean Fathers, we read:

"But when, having assumed these forms, they convicted as covetous those who stole them, and changed themselves into the nature of men, in order that, living holily, and showing the possibility of so living, they might subject the ungrateful to punishment, yet having become in all respects men, they also partook of human lust, and being brought under its subjection they fell into cohabitation with women; and being involved with them, and sunk in defilement and altogether emptied of their first power, were unable to turn back to the first purity of their proper nature . . . But from their unhallowed intercourse spurious men sprang, much greater in stature than ordinary men, whom they afterwards called giants; not those dragon-footed giants who waged war against God, as those blasphemous myths of the Greeks do sing, but wild in manners, and greater than men in size, inasmuch as they were sprung from angels; yet less than angels, as they were born of women" (vol.8, page 273). Amo 2:9 Yet I destroyed the Amorite from before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the great trees. And I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from below.

Jasher 4:18 And their judges and rulers went to the daughters of men and took their wives by force from their husbands according to their choice, and the sons of men in those days took from the cattle of the earth, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord; and God saw the whole earth and it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon earth, all men and all animals. "The angels of your heavens are now committing sin (upon the earth), and your wrath shall rest upon the flesh of the people until (the arrival of) the great day of judgment" (Enoch 84:4). "Again I saw (a vision) with my own eyes as I was sleeping, and saw the lofty heaven; and as I looked, a star fell down from heaven [Lucifer, or Satan -- compare Luke 10:18] but (managed) to rise and eat and to be pastured among those cows. Then I saw these big and dark cows, and behold they all changed their cattle-sheds, their pastures, and their calves; and they began to lament with each other. Once again I saw a vision, and I observed the sky and behold, I saw many stars descending and casting themselves down from the sky upon that first star; and they became bovids [cattle, or quadrupeds] among those calves and were pastured together with them, in their midst. I kept observing, and behold, I saw all of them extending their sexual organs like horses and commencing to mount upon the heifers, the bovids; and they (the latter) all became pregnant and bore elephants, camels, and donkeys. So (the cattle) became fearful and frightened of them . . ." (Enoch 86:1-5).

Yam
In Genesis 36 verse 24 and odd addition of information is given about Anah. He is said to have found mules (yam) in the wilderness. The word for mules is yam which is translated in the Targum as terror. In the book of Jasher chapter 36 verse 29-35 it is told of 120 great and terrible animals that came out from the wilderness at the other side of the sea and came to the place where the mules were. These animals were in the shape of men from the middle down and in the shape of different beasts from the middle up. The animals attacked Anah so he fled to the city and related to his sons and brothers what happened to him. Hab 3:8 Did Jehovah burn against rivers? Or was Your anger against the rivers? Or Your fury against the sea? For You ride on horses; Your chariots of salvation. In the JPS footnotes on this verse it is written "Neharim=floods & Yam=Sea were marine monsters vanquished by the LORD in hoary antiquity. On Yam see Ps 74:13; Job 7:12 Being called both Yam & Nahar figures in early Canaanite literature. Psa 74:13 You broke the sea (yam) by Your strength; You burst the heads of seamonsters (tanin) in the waters. Psa 74:14 You cracked open the heads of leviathan; You gave him to be food for the people of the wilderness. Job 7:12 Am I a sea (yam), or a sea-monster (tanin), that You set a watch over me? Job 26:12 With His power He quiets the sea (yam), and by His understanding He shatters pride (rahab).

Critias also supports this concept, that a group of divine beings in ancient times, "the gods of the nations", had divided up rule over the earth amongst themselves, a rule that continues today: In the days of old the gods had the whole earth distributed among them by allotment. There was no quarrelling; for you cannot rightly suppose that the gods did not know what was proper for each of them to have, or, knowing this, that they would seek to procure for themselves by contention that which more properly belonged to others. They all of them by just apportionment obtained what they wanted, and peopled their own districts; and when they had peopled them they tended us, their nurselings and possessions, as shepherds tend their flocks, excepting only that they did not use blows or bodily force, as shepherds do, but governed us like pilots from the stern of the vessel, which is an easy

way of guiding animals, holding our souls by the rudder of persuasion according to their own pleasure;-thus did they guide all mortal creatures.5 5 Plato, Critias (The Active Mind: http://www.activemind.com/).

Origin of Demons/evil spirits?

1Enoch 15:8 Now the giants, who have been born of spirit and of flesh, shall be called upon earth evil spirits, and on earth shall be their habitation. Evil spirits shall proceed from their flesh, because they were created from above; from the holy Watchers was their beginning and primary foundation. Evil spirits shall they be upon earth, and the spirits of the wicked shall they be called. The habitation of the spirits of heaven shall be in heaven; but upon earth shall be the habitation of terrestrial spirits, who are born on earth. N24 (24) Note the many implications of vss. 3-8 regarding the progeny of evil spirits. 9 The spirits of the giants shall be like clouds, N25 which shall oppress, corrupt, fall, content, and bruise upon earth. (25) The Greek word for "clouds" here, nephelas, may disguise a more ancient reading, Napheleim (Nephilim). 10 They shall cause lamentation. No food shall they eat; and they shall be thirsty; they shall be concealed, and shall not N26 rise up against the sons of men, and against women; for they come forth during the days of slaughter and destruction. (26) Shall not. Nearly all manuscripts contain this negative, but Charles, Knibb, and others believe the "not" should be deleted so the phrase reads "shall rise up." Enoc 16:1 And as to the death of the giants, wheresoever their spirits depart from their bodies, let their flesh, that which is perishable, be without judgment. N27 Thus shall they perish, until the day of the great consummation of the great world. A destruction shall take place of the Watchers and the impious. (27) Let their flesh...be without judgment. Or, "their flesh shall be destroyed before the judgment" (Knibb, p. 102). Pseudo Jubilee 10:1 And in the third week of this jubilee the unclean demons began to lead astray the children of 2 the sons of Noah, and to make to err and destroy them. And the sons of Noah came to Noah their father, and they told him concerning the demons which were leading astray and blinding and 3 slaying his sons' sons. And he prayed before the Lord his God, and said: 'God of the spirits of all flesh, who hast shown mercy unto me And hast saved me and my sons from the waters of the flood, And hast not caused me to perish as Thou didst the sons of perdition; For Thy grace has been great towards me, And great has been Thy mercy to my soul; Let Thy grace be lift up upon my sons, And let not wicked spirits rule over them Lest they should destroy them from the earth. 4 But do Thou bless me and my sons, that we may increase and Multiply and replenish the earth. 5 And Thou knowest how Thy Watchers, the fathers of these spirits, acted in my day: and as

for these spirits which are living, imprison them and hold them fast in the place of condemnation, and let them not bring destruction on the sons of thy servant, my God; for these are malignant, and 6 created in order to destroy. And let them not rule over the spirits of the living; for Thou alone canst exercise dominion over them. And let them not have power over the sons of the righteous 7 ,8 from henceforth and for evermore.' And the Lord our God bade us to bind all. And the chief of the spirits, Mastema, came and said: 'Lord, Creator, let some of them remain before me, and let them harken to my voice, and do all that I shall say unto them; for if some of them are not left to me, I shall not be able to execute the power of my will on the sons of men; for these are for corruption and leading astray before my judgment, for great is the wickedness of the sons of men.' 9 And He said: Let the tenth part of them remain before him, and let nine parts descend into the 10 place of condemnation.' And one of us He commanded that we should teach Noah all their 11 medicines; for He knew that they would not walk in uprightness, nor strive in righteousness. And we did according to all His words: all the malignant evil ones we bound in the place of condemna12 tion and a tenth part of them we left that they might be subject before Satan on the earth. And we explained to Noah all the medicines of their diseases, together with their seductions, how he 13 might heal them with herbs of the earth. And Noah wrote down all things in a book as we instructed him concerning every kind of medicine. Thus the evil spirits were precluded from 14 (hurting) the sons of Noah. And he gave all that he had written to Shem, his eldest son; for he 15 loved him exceedingly above all his sons. Amorite

The Amorites by intermarriage with the Rephaim were in "height like that of the cedars and strong as the oaks" (Amo_2:9).
Amo 2:9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath. "The wicked emperor Hadrian, who conquered Jerusalem, boasted, 'I have conquered Jerusalem with great power.' Rabbi Johanan ben Zakkai said to him, 'Do not boast. Had it not been the will of Heaven, you would not have conquered it.' Rabbi Johanan then took Hadrian into a cave and showed him the bodies of Amorites who were buried there. One of them measured eighteen cubits [approximately 30 feet] in height. He said, 'When we were deserving, such men were defeated by us, but now, because of our sins, you have defeated us'" (quoted in Judaism, edited by Arthur Hertzberg, p.155-156, George Braziller, New York: 1962).

Gen 14:5 And in the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him came and struck the giants in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim, Gen 19:5 And they called to Lot and said to him, Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.

Nephilim were on the earth in the days of the Egyptian Exodus

Num 13:33 And there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.'
Deu 2:10 The Emim lived there in days gone by, a great and plentiful people, and tall as the Anakim; Deu 2:11 they are reckoned to be giants (rephaim), they too, like the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim. Deu 2:20 That also is accounted a land of Rephaim: Rephaim dwelt therein aforetime; but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim, Deu 2:21 a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead; Deu 3:11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbah of the children of

Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man. Deu 9:2 a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you have heard it said, Who can stand before the sons of Anak? Jos 11:21 At that time Joshua came and cut off the Anakim from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anah, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel. Joshua completely destroyed them with their cities. Jos 11:22 There were none of the Anakim left in the land of the sons of Israel; only some remained in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod. Jos 12:4 and the border of Og king of Bashan, of the remnant of the Rephaim, who dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei, Jos 12:5 and ruled in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and half Gilead, even unto the border of Sihon king of Heshbon. 2Sa 21:16 And Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of Rapha the giant, the weight of his spear being three hundred bronze shekels in weight, and was girded with a new sword, even he said to strike David. 2Sa 21:18 And it happened after this that the battle was again in Gob of the Philistines. Then Sibbechai the Hushathite struck Saph, who was among the sons of Rapha. 2Sa 21:19 And again the battle was in Gob with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim the Bethlehemite struck one of Goliath the Gittite, and the wood of his spear was like a weaver's beam. 2Sa 21:20 And again the battle was in Gath, and there was a man of stature, and the fingers of his hands were six, and the fingers of his feet six, twenty four in number. And he also had been born to Rapha. 2Sa 21:21 And he cursed Israel; and Jonathan, the son of David's brother Shimeah, struck him. 2Sa 21:22 These four here born to Rapha the giant in Gath. And they fell by the hand of David, by the hand of his servants. 1Sa 17:4 And a champion came out from the armies of the Philistines, Goliath was his name, from Gath; his height was six cubits and a span. 1Sa 17:5 And a bronze helmet was on his head, and he was clothed with scaled body armor; and the weight of the armor was five thousand shekels (156lbs) of bronze. 1Sa 17:6 And a covering of bronze was on his legs, and a javelin of bronze between his shoulders. 1Sa 17:7 And the wood of his spear was like a weaver's beam; and the blade of his spear weighed six hundred shekels of iron. And the shield bearer went before him.

his spear must be twenty six feet long, since Hector's in Homer (m) was eleven cubits, or sixteen feet and a half:
Sir 16:7 He was not pacified toward the old giants, who fell away in the strength of their foolishness. Bar 3:26 There were the giants famous from the beginning, that were of so great stature, and so expert in war. Bar 3:27 Those did not the Lord choose, neither gave he the way of knowledge unto them: Bar 3:28 But they were destroyed, because they had no wisdom, and perished through their own foolishness. 3Maccabees Chapter 2

4: You destroyed those who in the past committed injustice, among whom were even

giants who trusted in their strength and boldness, whom you destroyed by bringing upon them a boundless flood. Jubilees 29:9 speaks of Gilead formerly being a land of the Rephaim whose height was from 7-10 cubits (up to 16+ ft tall) 29:9 speaks of the land of Gilead which was the sites of many Maccabee victories (1 Macc 5.26, 43-44; 2 Mac. 12:21,26) Edrei was Og's capital (Jos. 12:4; 13: 12, 31) 3 types of "giants" 1 Enoch 86:4; 88:2; Jubilees 7:21-22...Giants, Naphil, Eljo

Jubilees 7 21 from fornication and uncleanness and all iniquity. And the Lord destroyed everything from off the face of the earth; because of the wickedness of their deeds, and because of the blood which they had shed in the midst of the earth 26 He destroyed everything. 'And we were left, I and you, my sons, and everything that entered with us into the ark, and behold I see your works before me that ye do not walk in righteousness: for in the path of destruction ye have begun to walk, and ye are parting one from another, and are envious one of another, and (so it comes) that ye are not in harmony, my sons, each with his brother. 27 For I see, and behold the demons have begun (their) seductions against you and against your children and now I fear on your behalf, that after my death ye will shed the blood of men upon the earth, 28 and that ye, too, will be destroyed from the face of the earth. For whoso sheddeth man's blood, and whoso eateth the blood of any flesh, shall all be destroyed from the earth.

29 And there shall not be left any man that eateth blood, or that sheddeth the blood of man on the earth, Nor shall there be left to him any seed or descendants living under heaven; For into Sheol shall they go, And into the place of condemnation shall they descend, And into the darkness of the deep shall they all be removed by a violent death.

Mysterious chapter in Ezekiel Gen 10:11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

the national god Asur or Assur, whose high priest and representative was the king. Asur was originally Asir, the leader in war, who is accordingly depicted as a warrior-god armed with a bow and who in the age when solar worship became general in Babylonia was identified with the sun-god.
Ashur Eze 31:2 Son of man, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his host: To whom are you like in your greatness? Eze 31:3 Behold, Assyria (Ashur) was like a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches

and forest shade and exalted in height, and his top was among the thick boughs. Eze 31:4 The waters made him great and the deep made him high with her rivers, going all around her planting, and she sent out her channels to all the trees of the field. Eze 31:5 On account of this, his height was lifted up above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long in his sending, because of the many waters. Eze 31:6 All the birds of the heavens nested in his boughs, and under his branches all the beasts of the field gave birth, and in his shadow dwelt all great nations. Eze 31:7 And he was fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches. For his root was to many waters. Eze 31:8 The cedars did not overshadow him in the garden of God. The fir trees were not like his boughs, and the plane trees were not like his branches. Every tree in the garden of God was not like him in its beauty. Eze 31:9 I have made him beautiful by his many branches, and all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God envied him. Eze 31:10 So the Lord Jehovah says this: Because you were exalted in height, and he has set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height, Eze 31:11 so I have given him into the mighty hand of the nations. Dealing He shall deal with him; I have expelled him for his evil. Eze 31:12 And strangers have cut him off, the fearful of the nations, and have left him. His branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys, and his boughs have been broken in all the ravines of the land. And all the people of the land have gone from his shadow and have left him. Eze 31:13 All the birds of the heavens shall dwell on his ruin, and on his branches shall be all the beasts of the field, Eze 31:14 in order that all the trees by the waters may not be exalted in their height, and do not give their top among the thick boughs, and do not stand up in their mighty exaltation, all drinking waters. For all of them are given to death to the earth's lowest parts, in the midst of the sons of men, with those going down into the Pit. Eze 31:15 So says the Lord Jehovah: In the day he went down to Sheol, I caused a mourning. I covered the deep over him, and I held back her rivers, and many waters were restrained. And I darkened Lebanon on him, and all the trees of the field wilted away because of him. Eze 31:16 I made the nations shake at the sound of his fall when I made him go out to Sheol with those going down into the Pit. And all the trees of Eden shall be cheered in the earth's lowest parts, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink waters. Eze 31:17 They also went down with him into Sheol, to the slain of the sword, even his arm, who dwelt in his shadow in the midst of the nations. Eze 31:18 To whom are you like in glory and greatness among Eden's trees? Yet you shall go down with the trees of Eden to the earth's lowest parts. You shall lie amidst the uncircumcised with the slain of the sword. He is Pharaoh and all his host, declares the Lord Jehovah. Isa 31:8 Then Assyria(Ashur) shall fall by a sword, not of man; yea, a sword, not of man, shall devour him. For he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become forced labor. And Mosheh and Aharon went in unto Pharoh, and did as the Lord had commanded. And Aharon threw down the rod before the sight of Pharoh, and before the sight of his servants, and it became a basilisk.
Basilisk BAS'ILISK, n. s as z. [L. basiliscus.] 1. A fabulous serpent, called a cockatrice, and said to be produced from a cock's egg brooded by a serpent. The ancients alledged that its hissing would drive away all other serpents, and that its breath and even its look was fatal. Some writers suppose that a real serpent exists under this name.

The earth shall be immerged, and all things which are in it perish; while judgment shall come upon all, even upon all the righteous: Isa 24:19 The earth is breaking, breaking! The earth is crashing, crashing! The earth is tottering, tottering. Isa 24:20 Like a drunkard, the earth is staggering, staggering! And it rocks to and fro like a hut. Isa 24:21 And it shall be in that day, Jehovah shall punish the army of the high place on high, and on the kings of the land on the land. Enoch 10:6 Uriel is told to "heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may not perish through all the secret things that the Watchers have disclosed and have taught their sons. The term "Novus Ordo Seclorum," A New Order of the Ages, was adapted by Charles Thomson in 1782 who, while designing the Great Seal of the United States, was inspired by a line in Virgils Ecologue IV from the first century: Now the last age by Cumae Sibyl has come and gone, And the majestic roll of circling centuries begins anew: Justice returns, old Saturns reign With a new breed of men sent down from heaven. Is this why YHWH spoke through Jeremiah saying the following:? Jer 10:11 So you shall say to them, T he gods who have not made the heavens and the ear th, they shall perish from the ear th and from under these heavens. Interestingly, Jeremiah 10 is the chapter talking about the Christmas tree which can be traced back to the tree of knowledge of good and evil which the heathen religion consideres the tree of life. T he tree of life is supposedly a symbol for DNA. T he Christmas tree is then a symbol of the godman. T his is probabl y why the tree was used as a symbol for the

heathen. (genos) Act 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. Psa 91:5 You shall not fear the terror of night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; Psa 91:6 of the plague (dever) that walks in darkness nor of the destruction laying waste (shud) at noonday. Psa 91:10 no evil shall happen to You, nor shall any plague come near Your tent. Targum 5. Be not afraid of the terror of demons who walk at night, of the arrow of the angel of death that he looses during the day; 6. Of the death that walks in darkness, of the band of demons that attacks at noon. 10. The lord of the world responded and thus he said: No harm shall happen to you; and no plague or demon shall come near to your tents.

Psa 91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night,.... The terrible things that happen in the night; as fire, storms and tempests, invasion of enemies, murders, thefts, and, robberies: a good man, when he has committed himself and his family to the care and protection of God by prayer, has no reason to be anxiously careful of these things, or to indulge a slavish fear about them; see Psa_3:5, the Targum is, "thou shall not be afraid for the fear of devils that walk in the night:'' so Jarchi interprets this, and the next verse, of such; as do others of the Jewish writers: a man that trusts in the Lord need not be afraid of men or devils: a fear of evil spirits is natural to men, and very early appeared; perhaps it took its rise from the fatal affair of the fall of our first parents, through an intercourse with an evil spirit; and ever since has been imprinted on human nature an aversion to evil spirits, and a dread of them, and even of all spirits in general; see Job_4:13, nor for the arrow that flieth by day; the judgments of God, such as the sword, famine, and pestilence; these are called the arrows of God, Deu_32:23 (q), because they move swiftly, come suddenly, and strike surely, and are open and visible; they are sent by the Lord, and are ordered and directed by him, and hit and hurt whom he pleases, and none else; and therefore such who dwell in the secret of the Lord, and under his shadow, need not be distressed about them: the Targum interprets it of the arrow of the angel of death, which he sends out in the day; see Heb_2:14, so Jarchi understands it of a demon that flies like an arrow. (q) ---- , Homer. Iliad. 1. v. 51, 53.

Psa 91:6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness,.... Some think, and not without cause, that what is figuratively expressed in the preceding verse is here explained; and, indeed, the "pestilence" may well be called the "terror by night": the name of the plague, at a distance, is terrible; the near approach of it is more so; when it enters a country, city, or town, what fleeing is there from it? and in the night season it is more dreadful than in the day; not only to think of it in the gloomy watches of the night, but to see the vast numbers carried out to be interred, and to hear the dismal cry, Bring out your dead: and so it is here said to "walk in darkness"; in the darkness of the night, or to arise from dark and unknown causes; when it moves and walks through cities, towns, and villages, and there is no stopping it: and this also may be the "arrow that flieth by day"; which flies as swift as an arrow, and that flies as swift as a bird (r); this is taken out of the Lord's quiver, has its commission and direction from him, and does execution by night and by day: the plague that smote the firstborn in Egypt was in the night; and that which was in David's time, and might be the occasion of penning this psalm, began in the day, Exo_12:29, nor for the destruction that wasteth at noon day; as the pestilence, which may be increased, and rage the more, through the heat of the day; and which destroys great numbers wherever it comes: seventy thousand were taken off in three days by the plague occasioned by David's numbering of the people: the Targum is, "of a company of devils that destroy at noon day;'' that is, thou shall not be afraid: some think respect is had to a pestilential hot wind, common in the eastern countries, which begins to blow about eight o'clock in a morning, and is hottest at noon; which instantly suffocates persons, burns them, and reduces them to ashes presently, which the Arabs call "sammiel", or a poison wind (s). (r) "Voluces sagittae", Virgil. Aeneid. 12. "volante sagitta", Ovid. Trist. eleg. 10. (s) Vide Thevenot's Travels, par. 2. sect. 1. c. 12. p. 54. & l. 3. c. 8. p. 135.
Sammiel (poison wind) = Samael? Samael (also Sammael) is an important archangel in Talmudic and post-Talmudic lore, as well as Christian tradition and demonology, a figure who is accuser, seducer, and destroyer. He has been regarded as both good and evil. In rabbinic lore he is identified as the chief of Satan's and the Angel of death. In the Secrets of Enoch (Enoch II) he is a prince of demons and a magician. He was a guardian angel of Esau and a patron of the sinful empire of Rome. Samael is usually considered to be the true angelic name of Satan. The etymology of his name is sometimes thought to be a combination of "sam," and in some combinations 'poison',[clarify] and "el," meaning 'God'; thus he is the poison of God.

In the Divine Comedy, Dante portrays Nimrod as a giant, one of the guardians of the well containing the ninth circle of Hell. He is constantly babbling incomprehensibly, presumably a reference to the Tower of Babel.

Mahuzzim (q); departed saints and their images, whom the Papists make their protectors, defenders, and guardians: the word signifies towers, strong holds, fortresses; and by these titles the martyrs, saints departed, are called by the ancient fathers, who first introduced the worship of them: So Basil (r), speaking of the forty martyrs, says, "these are they, who obtaining our country, like certain towers, afford us a refuge against the incursion of enemies:'' and a little after thus addresses them, "O ye common keepers of mankind, the best companions of our cares, the suffragans of our prayers and wishes, "most powerful" ambassadors with God, &c.:'' and elsewhere (s) he prays, "that God would keep the church unmoved, and fortified with the great towers of the martyrs;'' so Chrysostom (t) calls them patrons and protectors. Or, "with God he shall honour" (u); these along with him, or besides him; these shall be the objects of religious worship and honour, as they are: and that "in his estate"; or in his room and stead, that is, of the true God, our Lord Jesus Christ, the only Mediator between God and man; and yet angels and departed saints are set up as mediators in his stead: The Hebrew word maoz means, properly, a strong or fortified place, a fortress; and Gesenius (Lexicon) supposes that the reference here is to the god of fortresses, a deity of the Syrians obtruded upon the Jews, perhaps Mars. So also Grotius, C. B. Michaelis, Staudlin, Bertholdt, and Winer. Dereser, Havernick, and Lengerke explain it as referring to the Jupiter Capitolinus that Antiochus had learned to worship by his long residence in Rome, and whose worship he transferred to his own country. while Hitzig, by changing into , fortress of the sea, thinks that Melkart, or the Phoenician Hercules, is referred to.

Wis 17:5 No power of the fire might give them light: neither could the bright flames of the stars endure to lighten that horrible night. Wis 17:6 Only there appeared unto them a fire kindled of itself, very dreadful: for being much terrified, they thought the things which they saw to be worse than the sight they saw not. Wis 17:8 For they, that promised to drive away terrors and troubles from a sick soul, were sick themselves of fear, worthy to be laughed at. Wis 17:9 For though no terrible thing did fear them; yet being scared with beasts that passed by, and hissing of serpents, Wis 17:10 They died for fear, denying that they saw the air, which could of no side be avoided. Exodus 8:21 Exo 8:21 Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are. the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves; or the star "your god" (q); meaning the same with Chiun or Saturn; perhaps the same with the star that fell from the air or sky, mentioned by Sanchoniatho (r); which Astarte, the wife of Chronus or Saturn, is said to take and consecrate in Tyre; this they made for themselves, and worshipped as a deity. The Targum is, "ye have borne the tabernacle of your priests, Chiun your image, the star your God, which ye have made to yourselves.''

It may be further observed, for the confirmation and illustration of what has been said concerning Chiun, that the Egyptian Anubis, which Plutarch (x) says is the same with Saturn, is called by him Kyon, which seems to be no other than this word Chiun: and whereas Stephen calls it Rephan, this is not a corruption of the word, reading Rephan or Revan for Chevan; nor has he respect to Rimmon, the god of the Syrians, but it is the Egyptian name for Saturn; which the Septuagint interpreters might choose to make use of, they interpreting for the king of Egypt: and Diodorus Siculus (y) makes mention of an Egyptian king called Remphis, whom Braunius (z) takes to be this very Chiun; see Act_7:43; but Rephas, or Rephan, was the same with Chronus, or Saturn, from whence came the Rephaim (a), who dwelt in Ashtaroth Karnaim, a town of Ham or Chronus; see Gen_14:5.
Voice of melakim in Nineveh Nah 2:13 Behold, I am against you, declares Jehovah of Hosts; and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions. And I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall not be heard any more. Hab 1:6 For, behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, the bitter and impetuous nation which is going into the broad spaces of the land, to possess dwellings not his own. Hab 1:7 He is terrible and fearful; his judgment and his glory goes forth from himself. Hab 1:8 His horses also are swifter than leopards and are fiercer than the evening wolves. And their horsemen spread themselves; yea, their horsemen come from afar; they shall fly as the eagle hurrying to eat. (DSS "spread wings") Hab 1:9 All of him shall come for violence; the eagerness of their faces is forward; and they gather captives like the sand. Hab 1:10 And he shall scoff against the kings, and officials shall be a scorn to him. He shall scorn every fortress, and he shall heap up dirt and capture it. Hab 1:11 Then he sweeps on like a wind; and he passes on and is guilty, crediting this power of his to his god.

Nibiru
Pliny's Natural History, reads: "A terrible comet was seen by the people of Ethiopia and Egypt, to which Typhon, the king of that period, gave his name; it had a fiery appearance and was twisted like a coil, and it was very grim to behold; it was not really a star so much as what it might be called a ball of fire." A time no more distant perhaps than 3,500 years ago. Caius Julius Solinus wrote of the Egyptians: 'The inhabitants of this country say that they have it from their ancestors that the sun now sets where it formerly rose,' Quote from Pomponius Mela, a Latin author of the first century: "The Egyptians pride themselves on being the most ancient people in the world. In their authentic annals ... one may read that since they have been in existence, the course of the stars has changed direction four times, and that the sun has set

twice in that part of the sky where it rises today." Immanuel Velikovsky [Worlds in Collision, p.136] "The fact I hope to establish is that from the fifteenth century to the eighth century before the present era the astronomical year was equal to 360 days; neither before the fifteenth century, nor after the eighth century was the year of this length." In Tractate Sanhedrin of the Talmud it is said: 'Seven days before the deluge, the Holy One changed the primeval order and the sun rose in the west and set in the east. The Aztecs Indians Related: 'There had been no sun in existence for many years ..[The Chiefs] began to peer through the gloom in all directions for the expected sight, and to make bets as to what part of heaven [the sun] should first appear ... but when the sun rose, they were all proved wrong, for not one of them had fixed upon the east.' Quote by Edgar Cayce: "If there is the greater activities in the Vesuvius, or Pelee then the southern coast of California and the areas between the Salt lake and the southern portions of Nevada may expect within the three months following same, an inundation by the earthquakes." - Edgar Cayce. Quote from a Hopi Elder: "Nature and the spirit of our ancestors are giving you loud warnings. Today you see increasing floods, more damaging hurricanes, hail storms, climate changes and earthquakes as our prophecies said would come. Why do animals act like they know about the earth's problems and most humans act like they know nothing? If we humans do not wake up to the warnings, the great purification will come to destroy this world just as the previous worlds were destroyed." -Thomas Banyacya, HOPI Nation address to United Nations, December 10th, 1992 Immanuel Velikovsky [Worlds in Collision, p.126] In the Ancient Syrian city Ugarit (Ras Shamra) was found a poem dedicated to the planet-goddess Anat, who 'massacred the population of the Levant,' and who 'exchanged the two dawns and the positions of the stars.' Rev 6:14 And the heaven departed like a scroll being rolled up. And every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great ones, and the rich ones, and the commanders, and the powerful ones, and every slave, and every freeman hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains. And it was cast onto the earth; and the third part of the trees was burned down; and all green grass was burned down. Rev 8:8 And the second angel trumpeted. Rev 8:12 And the fourth angel trumpeted. And the third part of the sun, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars, was struck, that the third part of them might be darkened, and the third part of the day might not appear; and in the same way the night. Rev 8:13 And I saw, and I heard one angel flying in mid-heaven, saying with a great voice, Woe! Woe! Woe to those dwelling on the earth, from the rest of the voices of the trumpet of the three angels being about to trumpet! Rev 9:1 And the fifth angel trumpeted. And I saw a star out of the heaven falling onto the earth. And the key to the pit of the abyss was given to it. Rev 9:2 And he opened the pit of the abyss. And smoke went up out of the pit, like smoke of a great furnace. And the sun was darkened, and the air, by the smoke of the pit. Rev 9:3 And out of the smoke locusts came forth to the earth. And authority was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have authority. Rev 9:4 And it was said to them that they should not harm the grass of the earth, nor every green thing, nor every tree, except only the men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. Rev 9:9 And they had breastplates like iron breastplates; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running to war. In Hebrew his name was Abaddon, and in Greek he has the name Apollyon. Rev 9:12 The first woe has departed; behold, after these things come two woes. Joe 2:1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; Joe 2:2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. Joe 2:3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. Joe 2:4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Joe 2:5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. Joe 2:6 Before their face the people shall be much pained (twisted, fear): all faces shall gather blackness (glow, illuminated). Joe 2:7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Joe 2:8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. Joe 2:9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. Joe 2:10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: Joe 2:11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? Isa 24:1 Lo, Jehovah empties the land and makes it bare, and distorts its face, and scatters those living in it. Isa 24:2 And as it is with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with the master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor. Isa 24:3 The land shall completely be emptied and utterly stripped, for Jehovah has spoken this Word. Isa 24:4 The land mourns and languishes; the world droops and languishes; the

proud people of the earth droop. Isa 24:5 And the earth is profaned under those living in it, because they transgress laws and violate a statute, and break the everlasting covenant. Isa 24:6 On account of this a curse has devoured the land; and they who live in it are held guilty. For this those living in the land are consumed, and few men are left. Isa 24:7 The new wine has failed; the vine droops; all the merry-hearted sigh. Isa 24:8 The exultation of timbrels ceases; the noise of those who revel ends; the exultation of the harp ceases. Isa 24:9 They shall not drink wine with a song; fermented drink shall be bitter to those who drink it. Isa 24:10 The city of shame is broken down; every house is shut, that no one may enter. Isa 24:11 A crying over the wine is in the streets; all joy is darkened; the gladness in the land is exiled. Isa 24:12 Desolation is remaining in the city, and a ruin; the gate is battered. Isa 24:13 For it is thus in the midst of the land, among the peoples, it shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as gleanings when the grape harvest is completed. Isa 24:14 They lift up their voice; they sing for the majesty of Jehovah; they cry aloud from the sea. Isa 24:15 On account of this, glorify Jehovah in the flames, the name of Jehovah God of Israel, in the coasts of the sea. Isa 24:16 We have heard songs from the end of the earth, Honor to the Righteous. But I said, Leanness to me! Leanness to me! Woe to me! Traitors betray, even with treachery; traitors betray! Isa 24:17 Dread, and the pit, and a snare are upon you, one living in the earth. Isa 24:18 And it shall be, he who flees from the sound of dread shall fall into the pit. And he who comes up out of the middle of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For the windows from on high are opened, and the earth's foundations quake. Isa 24:19 The earth is breaking, breaking! The earth is crashing, crashing! The earth is tottering, tottering. Isa 24:20 Like a drunkard, the earth is staggering, staggering! And it rocks to and fro like a hut. And its trespass is heavy on it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. Isa 24:21 And it shall be in that day, Jehovah shall punish the army of the high place on high, and on the kings of the land on the land. Isa 24:22 And they will be gathered, a gathering of prisoners in a dungeon. And they shall be shut up in a prison; and after many days they will be visited. Isa 24:23 Then the moon shall blush, and the sun shall be ashamed, when Jehovah of Hosts shall reign in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem; and before His elders is His glory. Rev 16:20 And every island fled away, and mountains were not found. Rev 16:21 And a great hail, as the size of a talent, came down out of the heaven upon men. And men blasphemed God from the plague of the hail, because its plague is exceedingly great. Psa 46:1 To the chief musician. For the sons of Korah; A song. For the Virgins. God is our refuge and strength, very much found to be a help in distresses. Psa 46:2 On account of this we will not fear when the earth changes and when mountains are slipping into the heart of the seas. Psa 46:3 Let its waters foam; let the mountains shake in its swelling. Selah. Psa 46:4 There is a river, its channels gladden the city of God, the holy tabernacles of the Most High. Psa 46:5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be shaken; God will help her at the turning of the morning.

Psa 46:6 The nations roared; kingdoms were shaken; He gave forth His voice and the earth melted. Psa 46:7 Jehovah of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is a refuge for us. Selah. Psa 46:8 Come, behold the works of Jehovah, who sets ruins on the earth, Psa 46:9 causing wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts apart spears; He burns the chariots in the fire. Psa 46:10 Be still and know that I am God! I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth. Psa 46:11 Jehovah of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is a refuge for us. Selah. Jer 8:14 Why do we sit still? Gather yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities; and let us be silent there. For Jehovah our God has made us silent there, and He has made us drink poisonous water, because we have sinned against Jehovah. Jer 8:15 We looked for peace, but no good came; for a time of healing, but, behold, terror! Jer 8:16 The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan; all the land trembles at the sound of the neighing of his stallions (abiyr=angel Psa 78:25). For they come and devour the land and its fullness, the city and those who live in it. Jer 8:17 For behold, I will send serpents among you, vipers for which there is no charm; and they will bite you, says Jehovah. Jer 8:18 My refreshing is beyond grief; my heart is sick within me. Jer 8:19 Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a distant land! Is not Jehovah in Zion? Or is not her king in her? Why have they provoked Me with their carved images, with foreign vanities? Jer 8:20 Harvest has passed; the summer has ended, and we are not delivered. Jer 8:21 For the breaking of the daughter of my people, I am broken. I mourn; horror has taken hold on me. Jer 8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no healer (rapha) there? Why then has the healing of the daughter of my people not come (alah)? Rahab? Job 26:12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud (Rahab). Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. Psa 87:4 I will mention Rahab and Babylon to those who know me; behold, Philistia and Tyre with Ethiopia; this man was born there. Psa 89:10 You have broken Rahab in pieces, as one slain; You have scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm. Isa 51:9 Awake! Awake! Arm of Jehovah, put on strength. Awake, as in days of old, everlasting generations. Was it not You cutting in pieces Rahab, and piercing the sea monster? Isa 51:10 Was it not You drying up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who set the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass? Isa 51:11 Yea, the ransomed of Jehovah shall return and come to Zion with singing, and everlasting joy shall be on their head; gladness and joy shall overtake them; sorrow and sighing shall flee. Job 9:13 God will not withdraw His anger; the helpers of pride stoop under Him. Isa 30:7 And Egypt; vainly and emptily they help. So I have called to this: Their strength is to sit still.

Atlantis

Atlantis divided into 10 Point for point the story of Atlantis matches with Moses and Enoch's accounts of the antediluvian world, and how divine beings had intermarried with humans, giving birth to semi-divine giants. Poseidon is said here to have married a human woman, and her name is even given: Cleito. Cleito bore him 10 sons, and he arranged and populated the island of Atlantis with such florae and faunae that their every need was met.

He also begat and brought up five pairs of twin male children; and dividing the island of Atlantis into ten portions, he gave to the first-born of the eldest pair his mother's dwelling and the surrounding allotment, which was the largest and best, and made him king over the rest; the others he made princes, and gave them rule over many men, and a large territory. And he named them all; the eldest, who was the first king, he named Atlas, and after him the whole island and the ocean were called Atlantic. To his twin brother, who was born after him, and obtained as his lot the extremity of the island towards the Pillars of Heracles, facing the country which is now called the region of Gades in that part of the world, he gave the name which in the Hellenic language is Eumelus, in the language of the country which is named after him, Gadeirus. Of the second pair of twins he called one Ampheres, and the other Evaemon. To the elder of the third pair of twins he gave the name Mneseus, and Autochthon to the one who followed him. Of the fourth pair of twins he called the elder Elasippus, and the younger Mestor. And of the fifth pair he gave to the elder the name of Azaes, and to the younger that of Diaprepes. All these and their descendants for many generations were the inhabitants and rulers of divers islands in the open sea; and also, as has been already said, they held sway in our direction over the country within the Pillars as far as Egypt and Tyrrhenia.8 Atlas, in the Greek myths, was actually a titan, one of the original deities who ruled over Earth before the Olympic gods (Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, etc.) overthrew them and took supremacy over Earth. The titans of the Greek myths were giants of great stature that ruled over a "golden age" of mankind: "The Golden Age of mankind lived during the rule of Kronos and the Titanes. This race of man was created by Prometheus and lived in peace and harmony, blessed with the fruits of the earth which grew freely in a garden of Eden-like paradise."9 However, all was not well in Paradise, as the titans did not share their power freely: "The Titanes were jealous of their privileges and refused to devolve any power to the younger generations of gods. Zeus led these in rebellion and after a violent ten year war the Titanes were overthrown and cast into Tartaros."
